The structure of a society is the sum of the different kinds of agency different kinds of people exercise. Here we tell a story of the rise of the current intrigue-riddled, paranoid state of the world by examining the roles played by four individuals. Each is a case study in a distinct political personality. One, Noel Field, who we will call the Idealist: a pious Quaker activist whose naivete entangled him in a plot that got a truly astonishing number of people tortured and killed. Two, C. Wright Mills, who we will call the Renegade: a motorcycle-riding sociologist whose 1956 book The Power Elite informed subsequent revolutionary movements. Three, John F. Kennedy, who we will call the Celebrity: a man who was no stranger to Dark Triad traits, but who lacked the monumental propensity for deception of his rivals in the national security establishment. Four, Allen Dulles, who we will call the Councilor: a man who lacked the charisma of true celebrity, but who ultimately succeeded in his power struggle with Kennedy. We examine how people with extreme psychologies can often outmode others because of their very rarity, enabling them to concoct strategies no one sees coming. And, using cross-species comparison, we see how psychological traits vary so massively in part because there really is no evolutionary optimum, contradicting the idea of species-typical psychology—and by extension, species-typical social structure. 

How did we come to live in such an intrigue-riddled, spook-haunted world? In this two-part series, we tell a story about the ascent of the post-WWII espionage establishment, and the permanent sense of crisis and unreality it has created. We tell this story through the lens of revolutionary biology, examining a few of the different political personalities involved: the critics, the pawns, and the conspirators. We examine how ritual deception is a common instrument of domination in traditional societies, and how a very similar psychology is involved in what we call false flag operations today. We look at the truly shocking prevalence of the Dark Triad traits—Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy—in human populations, and the difficulty more empathetic and honest people have coming to terms with this reality. We do this by focusing on the story of how former CIA chief Allen Dulles, a paradigmatic case study in Machiavellianism, helped create a clandestine Nazi power structure that survived and thrived after World War Two.

The OSS Origins and the "Get the Food, Mary" Moment Liza Mundy Book: The Sisterhood: The Secret History of Women at the CIA Liza Mundy's book explores the history of women in US intelligence, beginning with Mary Bancroft during World War II, a time when the US needed to rapidly build intelligence capabilities (in 1941, the US had no spy agencies). Bancroft, a college-educated woman who spoke German and French, was recruited by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). She began by writing vital open-source reports from neutral Switzerland. She was later recruited by Allen Dulles to be his right-hand woman, assisting with intelligence analysis and collection. Bancroft also handled a key German double agent plotting Hitler's assassination. Despite her critical role, she often faced dismissive treatment; in one meeting, Dulles famously ordered her, "get the food, Mary." Rarely is one of our shows as intricately fascinating and self-disclosing to our guest and ourselves that we cannot adequately describe all that we covered, all that we learned, and all that we began integrating anew into our knowledge as the interview evolved.   Our guest, physician Juliette Engel, was a captive, slave, and experimental subject controlled by the CIA from early childhood until age sixteen. Acting on her own, she then escaped the CIA/MKUltra house of devil worship — a subject we will let her tell you about in the interview. She began her new life as a college student, and to manage her severe post-traumatic stress, she developed amnesia for her horrendous past. As a therapist and researcher, I know this happens, but it requires a powerful mind like Dr. Engel to accomplish it and ultimately to flourish.   Dr. Engel is part of a growing number of people coming forth about their experiences as victims of CIA experiments, which in part were training her to become a part of what I have decided to call, “the global community of abusers without conscience,” a powerful aspect of the global predators and their unholy empires.   Adding incredible background to her personal testimony, she sent us in advance a document released from the National Security Archive on December 23, 2024. The ominous title is “CIA Behavioral Control Experiments Focus of New Scholarly Collection.”   The CIA documents confirm many of Dr. Engel's memories, which only began to unfold much later, after a life of medical reform work in Russia.   Confirming Our Own Experiences with the Deep State and CIA   One huge confirmation for me and Ginger is how much the CIA was indeed focused on defending and supporting the very kind or torturous and inhuman psychiatric treatments that I began openly opposing in the early 1970s, including lobotomy and other forms of psychosurgery and electroshock (ECT) which I have described as an electrical closed-head lobotomy.   Another insight for me was the similarity between the CIA agents and collaborators, as described in the CIA documents, and the global predators we have described in our book, COVID-19 and the Global Predators: We Are the Prey. This is the same profile we continue to explore in our recent columns about America's four current empires: the Western Global Empire, the Eastern Global Chinese Communist Empire, the Russian Empire, and the Caliphate Muslim Empire.   These predators, across a broad spectrum of activities, are primarily motivated by a lust for power over other human beings. They also desire wealth, but mostly as a tool for gaining power. What drives them is the desire to exert power over as many people as possible within their sphere, whether it is a political party, a criminal cabal or conspiracy, a government agency, a nation, an empire, or a global governance.   If they did not lust for power, they would not succeed in their goal of dominating, controlling, exploiting, enslaving, or killing as many people as possible. They must also possess extreme cunning and shrewdness to be able to manipulate and exploit so many people and to compete for power among so many other violent, cunning people. Probably above all else, they must be masters of conspiracy, able to seduce or intimidate others into helping them pursue their evil aims.   These predators must lack identification with the people within their own family,  group, nation, or empire, because seizing and growing enormous power usually requires, as history demonstrates, killing competitors in their own families and their own inner circles of co-conspirators, as well as millions of their own people, as demonstrated by apex global predators from Alexander “the Great” to Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and the current leaders of Communist China.   These predators must not allow themselves to genuinely love anyone, because such entanglements and feelings would check or inhibit the kind of evil conduct required for fulfilling their primary lust for power. Ultimately, they must not identify with anyone but themselves.   The following excerpts are taken from the vastly important document that our guest, Juliette Engel, MD, first drew to our attention, “CIA Behavior Control Experiments Focus of New Scholarly Collection.”  [The document lacks page numbers, but the excerpts can be located by means of searching the document:]   Excerpt 1 from the CIA Documents   Asked whether the CIA had tried to identify “techniques of producing retrograde amnesia,” Gottlieb said it was something that they “talked about,” but that he could not “remember any specific projects or specific research mounted in response to that question.” Asked if the CIA ever used “psychosurgery research projects,” Gottlieb said his “remembrance is that they did.”   Excerpt 2   The elevation of Allen Dulles to deputy director of central intelligence in 1951 led to an expansion of BLUEBIRD programs under a new name, ARTICHOKE, and under the direction of Gottlieb at TSS. Last Resort Beyond Last Resort: The JFK Assassination, The Need to Protect West Berlin, and Why a Second Invasion of Cuba Never HappenedJohn F. Kennedy was an embattled president. He was consistently at odds with the Joint Chiefs, the CIA, the radical-right, and Fascist groups in America and Western Europe, who considered him too weak to contain the spread of communism. After the Cuban Missile Crisis, the animosity for the young President grew as JFK cracked down on right-wing Cuban exile groups in America by preventing them from running sabotage raids against the Cuban mainland. Confusion reigned, for at the same time, Robert Kennedy was putting together a coalition of left-wing Cuban exiles to launch a second invasion of Cuba at the end of 1963. Meanwhile, a right-wing Cuban exile group operating independently of the Kennedys was looking to assassinate JFK, which they believed would be a catalyst to compel the United States to invade Cuba with its military in retaliation. The plan could have worked because of Lee Harvey Oswald. He was a Marxist and Castro supporter who had defected to the Soviet Union in 1959, had renounced his citizenship, and had revealed military secrets to the Russians. He allegedly tried to shoot right-wing General Edwin Walker, was a member of the pro-Castro Fair Play for Cuba Committee, and in the summer of 1963, he was arrested in New Orleans for handing out pro-Castro literature in public. He traveled to Mexico City and tried to reach Havana two months before the JFK assassination. He wrote a letter to the Russian Embassy in Washington D.C. upon his return, saying he used an alias while he was in Mexico. He was measured as 5'-9" tall during his autopsy, which was two inches shorter than when he left the Marines four years before. All this made him the perfect patsy to be used to justify a second invasion of Cuba. So, why didn't the United States invade Cuba after the JFK assassination when they had the opportunity to do so once and for all? The answer to that question is West Berlin, the gateway to Western Europe and a city President Kennedy was determined to protect at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing Cuba to the Communists. And a second invasion of Cuba placed Berlin in jeopardy, so it could not be allowed to happen. Another group came together in the spring of 1963, made up of CIA right-wing Cold War veterans like Allen Dulles, James Angleton, Henry Hecksher, William Harvey, and Tracy Barnes. These men had fought the Nazis during World War but came to consider them the lesser of two evils compared to the Soviet Union when the war was over. And they were hell-bent on keeping communism out of Europe by any means possible. For over a decade leading up to JFK's Presidency, they had collaborated with ex-Nazis, European Monarchists, and French military Fascists in the war against communism to keep Europe safe. So, it was not surprising that they all came together once again to assassinate President Kennedy – not to justify an invasion of Cuba but to prevent that from occurring. They knew that if a second invasion of Cuba were to happen, the Soviets would take West Berlin, which would almost certainly have led to World War III. So, as a Last Resort Beyond Last Resort, this group inevitably concluded that the only choice they had was to remove JFK from power before it was too late. Rarely is one of our shows as intricately fascinating and self-disclosing to our guest and ourselves that we cannot adequately describe all that we covered, all that we learned, and all that we began integrating anew into our knowledge as the interview evolved.   Our guest, physician Juliette Engel, was a captive, slave, and experimental subject controlled by the CIA from early childhood until age sixteen. Acting on her own, she then escaped the CIA/MKUltra house of devil worship — a subject we will let her tell you about in the interview. She began her new life as a college student, and to manage her severe post-traumatic stress, she developed amnesia for her horrendous past. As a therapist and researcher, I know this happens, but it requires a powerful mind like Dr. Engel to accomplish it and ultimately to flourish.   Dr. Engel is part of a growing number of people coming forth about their experiences as victims of CIA experiments, which in part were training her to become a part of what I have decided to call, “the global community of abusers without conscience,” a powerful aspect of the global predators and their unholy empires.   Adding incredible background to her personal testimony, she sent us in advance a document released from the National Security Archive on December 23, 2024. The ominous title is “CIA Behavioral Control Experiments Focus of New Scholarly Collection.”   The CIA documents confirm many of Dr. Engel's memories, which only began to unfold much later, after a life of medical reform work in Russia.   Confirming Our Own Experiences with the Deep State and CIA   One huge confirmation for me and Ginger is how much the CIA was indeed focused on defending and supporting the very kind or torturous and inhuman psychiatric treatments that I began openly opposing in the early 1970s, including lobotomy and other forms of psychosurgery and electroshock (ECT) which I have described as an electrical closed-head lobotomy.   Another insight for me was the similarity between the CIA agents and collaborators, as described in the CIA documents, and the global predators we have described in our book, COVID-19 and the Global Predators: We Are the Prey. This is the same profile we continue to explore in our recent columns about America's four current empires: the Western Global Empire, the Eastern Global Chinese Communist Empire, the Russian Empire, and the Caliphate Muslim Empire.   These predators, across a broad spectrum of activities, are primarily motivated by a lust for power over other human beings. They also desire wealth, but mostly as a tool for gaining power. What drives them is the desire to exert power over as many people as possible within their sphere, whether it is a political party, a criminal cabal or conspiracy, a government agency, a nation, an empire, or a global governance.   If they did not lust for power, they would not succeed in their goal of dominating, controlling, exploiting, enslaving, or killing as many people as possible. They must also possess extreme cunning and shrewdness to be able to manipulate and exploit so many people and to compete for power among so many other violent, cunning people. Probably above all else, they must be masters of conspiracy, able to seduce or intimidate others into helping them pursue their evil aims.   These predators must lack identification with the people within their own family,  group, nation, or empire, because seizing and growing enormous power usually requires, as history demonstrates, killing competitors in their own families and their own inner circles of co-conspirators, as well as millions of their own people, as demonstrated by apex global predators from Alexander “the Great” to Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and the current leaders of Communist China.   These predators must not allow themselves to genuinely love anyone, because such entanglements and feelings would check or inhibit the kind of evil conduct required for fulfilling their primary lust for power. Former Gambino family mobster Lou Ferrante joined us for an episode about his three volumes of research on the Mafia. Krasny asked Ferrante of analogies he made in print between the Kennedys and the Medicis and the episode concluded with Krasny drawing out a humorous story from Ferrante about Cuba, President John F Kennedy, Ian Fleming and the CIA's Allen Dulles, and asking Ferrante about the ultimate fate of Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa and what drives and inspires Ferrante to write.

In 1961, at the height of the Cold War, the fight against communism was in full swing. The CIA was deep into the politics of Central America, having already assisted some dictator-ish guys staying in power. The U.S. felt like it couldn't lose when it decided to "intervene". America was friendly with the current regime of Cuba, and it probably had nothing to do with all of the American corporations controlling most of Cuban industry. When Fidel Castro came into power as a result of one of the many Cuban revolutions, the U.S. was panicking because we didn't know which way he was leaning, Capitalist or Communist. With Cuba only being 90 miles from Florida, this was a cause for concern (not at all escalated by the Nukes we put in Turkey aimed at Russia). When the U.S. botched the first interactions with Fidel and issued economic sanctions, to be fair he seized a bunch of American corporation property in Cuba, he decided to just get what he needed from Russia, and boy were they excited, a communist friendly country 90 miles from the United States, oh the possibilities. Well because of this Uncle Sam decided Fidel had to go, so you do what any rational government would do. You find a bunch of exiled Cubans, train them as guerrilla fighters, teach them to pilot WW2 era bombers, secure them ships, and supply them with everything they need to invade Cuba and start a revolution to topple Castro. In the first half, author and researcher Jerome Corsi discussed his latest book, "The Final Analysis," co-authored with Dr. David Mantik, which delves into the JFK assassination. Mantik, a radiation oncologist with a PhD in physics, analyzed JFK's autopsy X-rays and concluded that all three of the ones in the archives had been falsified "to hide evidence of frontal shots," Corsi stated, asserting that there were clear indications of shots fired from the Grassy Knoll. Corsi expressed confidence that the release of classified documents, which could happen during the next Trump administration, will reveal more about the assassination. "The final documents will show that Lee Harvey Oswald was working for the CIA," he said, adding that, "I don't believe Lee Harvey Oswald fired a single shot that day."The discussion also touched on the concept of the "Deep State," which Corsi characterized as a group of unelected officials and bureaucrats making decisions and controlling power behind the scenes. He implicated intelligence agencies in the cover-up of JFK's assassination, suggesting they manipulate public perception and control narratives. Further, Corsi believes the CIA was "deeply involved in killing Jack Kennedy" and acted in a conspiracy with organized crime to carry it out. Discussing Robert Kennedy, he thinks that RFK was aware of the conspiracy and, if he had lived, would have pursued the truth about his brother's assassination. Corsi posited that former CIA director Allen Dulles, after being dismissed by President Kennedy, began plotting revenge against him.------------In the latter half, author, researcher, and ufologist Anthony Sanchez offered commentary and analysis on the state of ufology and the recent UFO/UAP hearings. He has stirred controversy within the UFO community by posing provocative questions about the current UAP narrative, suggesting it could be a "psyop" orchestrated by defense industries. He also shared concern over the motives behind the mainstream media's focus on UAPs, pondering whether this was a tactic to manage public perception and justify expanded government control. The current drone mystery could be part of that agenda, he added.Regarding the congressional hearings, "the major revelations in 2023 were the confirmation of non-human biologics associated with UAPs," he said, as well as the riveting testimony of retired naval pilot David Fravor on the 2004 "Tic Tac" incident aboard the USS Nimitz. Sanchez contrasted that with the 2024 hearings, which he felt lacked the same level of impact, with the focus shifting towards integrating discovered technologies into national security frameworks. The hearings may serve as a kind of "grand pageantry" to excite and distract the public while pushing hidden agendas, he remarked. On the topic of advanced technologies like zero-point energy and anti-gravity, he argued that declassifying such information could lead to transformative societal benefits, including environmental improvements and energy independence.

MK-Ultra was a secretive CIA project that took place between 1953 and 1973, during which the agency conducted various experiments on unwitting U.S. citizens to explore the potential use of drugs like LSD for mind control, brainwashing, and psychological torture. The project originated from Cold War paranoia, as the U.S. government feared that Soviet and communist agents were using mind control on American prisoners of war. The CIA, led by Allen Dulles and headed by Sidney Gottlieb, initiated MK-Ultra to develop techniques for manipulating human behavior, using drugs, electroshock therapy, and other psychological tools. Over 150 experiments were conducted, many without the knowledge of the participants. One notable drug used in MK-Ultra was LSD, synthesized in 1938 by scientist Albert Hofmann. Originally intended as a circulatory stimulant, Hofmann discovered its hallucinogenic effects after accidentally ingesting the substance in 1943. His intense experience with hallucinations and vivid colors led to further exploration of LSD's mind-altering properties, and the CIA soon took an interest in its potential for brainwashing and interrogation. The CIA purchased large quantities of LSD, experimenting on various groups, including prisoners, military personnel, and even its own employees. One of the most infamous incidents was the case of Frank Olson, a bacteriologist who worked on biological warfare at Fort Detrick. After being unknowingly dosed with LSD during a CIA retreat in 1953, Olson's mental health deteriorated, and he died shortly after, allegedly falling from a New York hotel window under mysterious circumstances. Many believe Olson was murdered by the CIA to keep him silent about the agency's dark practices. MK-Ultra also included projects like Operation Midnight Climax, where unsuspecting individuals were lured by prostitutes into CIA-run safehouses and dosed with LSD. The program's secrecy was such that even top government officials were unaware of its scope. Although officially halted in 1973, MK-Ultra's true extent remains obscured, as most records were destroyed. Revelations about the program came to light through investigations by the Senate Church Committee in the 1970s, revealing the CIA's illegal experiments on unwitting citizens.
