This week on "Talk About Las Vegas With Ira," Ira sits down with Matthew Robinson and Zahrah Hutton of The Mēla Guitar Quartet, who are set to close out the UNLV Performing Arts Center's 48th Season with a spectacular concert on March 15 at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. In this episode, Matthew and Zahrah dive into the origins of the quartet, revealing how their unique collaboration took shape and why four musicians create the perfect balance of tex-ture and harmony. They discuss the art of dividing musical roles to sustain melody, the fluid and egalitarian nature of a quartet, and how their sound contrasts with a traditional string quartet. They also explore the intricacies of their performances—how selections are chosen, the universal appeal of their music, and the energy of taking an audience on a journey from electrifying highs to tender, intimate moments. Zahrah shares her unique perspective on transitioning from an audience member to a performer within the group, and the duo high-lights the value of fresh voices joining the quartet. Plus, they break down an exhilarating example from Flight of the Bumblebee, discuss why a producer becomes the quartet's “fifth member” in the recording studio, and explain why having both musical and technical ears listening is essential for their craft. Don't miss this deep dive into the artistry, collaboration, and passion behind The Mēla Guitar Quartet! (Also Watch Full Podcast Video)
Growing up in a cult, a desperately yearning Zahrah learned about a god devoid of love. As a child struggling with mental illness her mother surrendered the adolescent Zahrah to her father, who also refused to cope with this suffering girl's mental illness. She became homeless at an early age. Seeking some solace, a practicing witch offered to Zahrah an escape through astral projection and other demonic practices. This led to a downward spiral. Eventually it would lead to Zahrah's death. She found herself being pulled to a door within a hellish place knowing that once she passed through that door, there would be no return. But then someone showed up - the God of Love for whom Zahrah yearned for all of her life. This is a must see interview. This story will unveil the heart of God to a lost soul who today rejoices in finally knowing the loving Father each of us desires.

In this episode I chat to Zahrah Mahmood aka The Hillwalking Hijabi.Zahrah is a new mum to baby Harris and a keen hillwalker. She took up hill walking around 7 years ago to help her manage work stress and despite not enjoying her first trip up a Munro, that walk inspired her to take up walking and to come back into the hills as her confidence and ability grew.Zahrah was extremely sick throughout her pregnancy with an aversion to food which meant she could barely walk which she found frustrating. Once she had her son via emergency C-Section she was so keen to get moving that her stitches reopened and her recovery was delayed. Thankfully she is now back in the hills with her son.Zahrah said that initially it would have been easier to walk without her son as knowing what to pack to take him out felt overwhelming but she is glad she did as now he is awake and enjoying it, they are both getting a lot out of it and she is keen to carry him for as long as she can. Her goal is to climb a Munro with him before he gets too big for her to carry. This feels like a brief episode as both our baby sons decided to start crying mid-recording but I really enjoyed our quick chat and I hope you do too. As ever, please help the Podcast grow by sharing the episode on your social media and with any women you know. Please also take the time to leave a quick review on apple of Spotify. Thanks for listening!

Zahrah from 3rd grade completes our recitation of Juz 'Amma by sharing Surah An-Nas. We offer the final surah to seek refuge with Allah from the retreating whisperers. As mentioned with Surah Al-Falaq, with regards to Prophets Musa and Muhammad ﷺ offering similar sentiments (see 40:27 and 44:20), this reflects their conviction on not giving up preaching the Word of Truth, not caring for detractors’ actions, having sought refuge with Allah, our Creator and Rabb of the whole universe.4th grader Zahrah teaches nine vocabulary words from the last surah in the Qur’an to help you connect with Allah’s Book. Aaliya from 3rd grade and Ustadh Michael Wolfender explain some benefits from Surah An-Nas, including how reciting it provides protection. Zahrah Mahmood is a hiker who lives in Glasgow. Zahrah is hugely motivated in encouraging other Muslim women to get into the outdoors and experience the physical and mental benefits that she's felt from it. The post Zahrah Mahmood, aka ‘The Hillwalking Hijabi' appeared first on The Outdoors Fix.
"Zahrah was born and bred in Goodwood, Cape Town. With a natural inclination for school subjects such as drama and debating, she doesn’t shy away from describing her younger self as: ‘the child whom adults liked, but whom all the other kids hated! I thought I could do anything and everything.’ After matric, Zahrah enrolled at the University of the Western Cape to study law, but in her second year realised that it wasn’t for her. She then started applying for bursaries and volunteered at radio stations, one of them being local Islamic radio station Voice of the Cape, where she became the drive-time show producer. However, she was itching to grace the screens of South African TVs. This dream became more attainable when she made the move from radio to TV production the following year. Expresso was looking for a news and entertainment producer, and Zahrah grabbed the opportunity. ‘I went for the interview and had almost given up hope when I didn’t hear back from them after three weeks. Well not probably anything deep, just talking about drama and how it has ruined a lot of fun I have had in both games. With Second Life, oddly enough success is part of the problem. Lost Angels started on the Satellite sim and was limited to 40 people. If you weren't one of them you stood at the border waiting for someone to leave or crash to get in. Because of that drama and fighting was controlled a bit. Now LA is on its own sim, with several other sims bordering that can be easily crossed. thus when people have issues it can easily blow out of control. With Argent Dawn, Mainly my portion here is talking about regretting letting others control where I play. I was a member of the Alliance guild the Agency, controlled by Davnika. It was a good guild if somewhat notorious. I liked the people and wish now I wouldn't have stopped playing. By the time I gave up caring the guild had changed a lot. I don't even know if it still exists. On the horde side My character Sylvestria met a lady named Zahrah and I enjoyed being with her. She showed me a couple places in the game I sill think of as special, one being the zone next to Tristfall Glades where the Tower is. I have tried writing to her to apologize for leaving but I never expect to hear back. If I could go back in time I would in the case of argent Dawn. La is doomed due to its success and nothing will change that. I will be around as long as it will be.
