As Asian folx – and as Filipinos who have high standards for ourselves – we are always stricken with the feeling of being mediocre: just okay, good enough, nothing special. This feeling can manifest itself as an inner voice (critic even), a lack of motivation, the loss of trust in oneself, and – overall – defeat. For today's episode, we're going to talk about something that we're good at feeling – feeling mediocre – and hopefully find ways to get out of that and also the will to accept it. I wanted to look up what the cultural relationship Filipinx have with animals. The top 3 things came up in Jean's google search, We eat dogs. Dogs are the number 1 pets by Filipinos followed by cats. (SURPRISINGLY!!!??) This information on relationships conflict and the limited research creates a gap in knowing the actual closeness and fondness that exists in our culture with nature’s creatures.
