MERRY CHRISTMAS WEEK, La Plática fam! What's better than Josh and Sebas doing a solo episode? Josh and Sebas doing a solo episode dressed up as The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, Mahh Ehhhhh! This week we got a fun one for you as your favorite hosts test their knowledge about the iconic 2000's film - How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and discuss some of their favorite behind the scenes moments. They also ranked their top 3 favorite Christmas movies, just in case you needed something to watch this holiday season.
Looks like you've found yourself on Santa's Naughty List! How the Grinch Stole Christmas isn't just a beloved holiday classic; it's a deep dive into the complexities of acceptance, compassion, and the true spirit of Christmas, that also contains a Mean One!From Dr. Seuss's iconic original story to its 1966 animated version and the 2000 live-action adaptation featuring Jim Carrey, the Grinch's transformation from a cynical hermit to a figure of redemption mirrors our own struggles with loneliness and societal pressures during the holiday season. The live-action movie's rights were auctioned by Dr Seuss' widow, Audrey Geisel, in 1998; with a list of strict rules the winning studio had to follow. Ron Howard's idea to flesh out the backstory of the character, and to give more agency to Cindy Lou Who was part of the winning bid, and Geisel wanted a big name star like Jim Carrey to play her late husband's iconic green character. She got Jim Carrey. But his gruelling makeup and costume process would cause tensions on the elaborately designed set that brought Whoville to life.Christmas is about more than just presents; it's about togetherness and the power of kindness, regardless of how big our hearts might be. The Grinch's story is ultimately one of of acceptance and the true spirit of Christmas.I would love to hear your thoughts on How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! We take a fresh look at Christmas and why Cindy Lou Who had a hard time understanding Christmas, given the people and environment around her. We discuss how Christmas has been hijacked by the figure of Santa Clause and ‘gift giving.' We also reflect how this can affect younger generations to forget why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. Lastly, we reflect on why we really celebrate Christmas and what the spirit of Christmas really means. Merry Christmas! Mr. Grinch! We did both the Boris Karloff & Jim Carrey versions because we love them both!"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is a heartwarming holiday film based on Dr. Seuss' beloved children's book of the same name. The story unfolds in the whimsical town of Whoville, where the cheerful residents eagerly anticipate the arrival of Christmas. However, residing just outside of Whoville is the Grinch, a green, furry, and grouchy creature who despises the holiday season and everything associated with it.The Grinch concocts a mischievous plan to steal Christmas from the Whos by disguising himself as Santa Claus and sneaking into their homes on Christmas Eve. With his faithful canine companion, Max, by his side, the Grinch sets out to pilfer presents, decorations, and even the festive feast, believing that removing these material trappings will dampen the Whos' holiday spirit. As the Grinch goes about his thieving mission, he encounters Cindy Lou Who, a sweet and innocent little girl who questions the true meaning of Christmas. Cindy Lou's kindness and curiosity start to chip away at the Grinch's icy heart, and he begins to reconsider his disdain for the holiday. In a heartwarming twist, the Grinch's change of heart is catalyzed by the Whos' unshakeable joy and love for one another, even in the absence of material possessions. The film delivers a powerful message about the true spirit of Christmas, emphasizing love, generosity, and the importance of togetherness.Ultimately, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is a timeless tale of redemption and the transformative power of love, beautifully capturing the magic and warmth of the holiday season.Check out the merch: http://shop.backinthedaypodcast.comFriends of the Show1 Man Mafia (twitch.tv/1man_mafia)Jayke The Gamer God (twitch.tv/JaykeTheGamerGod)IB Best Gaming (https://www.tiktok.com/@ibbestgaming)Intro for the shopSupport the show'Beavis and Butt-head' Cover art created by Joe Crawford

"The world has decided so many things about me that are grossly inaccurate and if I carried the weight of all those I would be crushed and never be able to get out of bed." It's a rare occasion that the highlighted quote is spoken less than 5 minutes into a conversation with a guest! And, truthfully, there could have been 30 more. This conversation is not only the longest one we've ever aired, but also one of the most fun! Courtney is ecstatic to welcome Dr. Erika Michalski to the show as our Season 2 finale. Courtney first met Dr. Erika in 2020 as part of a leadership conference for women who work in higher education. When considering how to close the season, Dr. Erika felt like the perfect guest: brimming with enthusiasm, vibrant, brilliant, fun, and able to speak on issues that face so many women and female-presenting folks. The name of this episode actually arose from the planning session held between Erika and Courtney, and while these words are never explicitly spoken in this episode, it is the main takeaway: to live authentically as one's fullest self, out loud, is to be awesome as fuck. Dr. Erika shares her own personal experiences with courageous authenticity, enthusiasm, and showing up in the world as a be-glittered, blonde-haired, cheerleading nerd. (Sounds like an absolute dream of a combo!) She also shares some practical tips, including direct permission, for anyone listening who would like to live more authentically. Courtney and Erika also discuss such cultural icons as Cindy-Lou Who and Barbie. Yes, it's all related but you'll need to listen to learn how! About our guest: Dr. Erika Michalski is an aggressive optimist and authenticity advocate. She is passionate about data, documentaries, dance parties, and dessert. Her signature “Eat Cake for Breakfast” bag references a lifestyle choice she is very committed to and an external reminder that she chooses to move through the world unapologetically as herself. A former competitive cheerleader and collegiate cheerleading coach, Erika loves glitter AND enthusiastically encouraging everyone she meets. After exploring the unique intersection of authenticity, data, and encouraging the development of others, she founded Strategically Authentic – a consulting company dedicated to helping individuals and teams leverage who they ARE to get where they want to BE. Erika is known by clients and colleagues as the one who believes even the most ambitious goals are possible as long as there is a nimble plan rooted in authenticity ... and she is ready to celebrate successes of every size along the way to achieving them! This wife and mother of 2 was once referred to as a “big bite of food”. It was intended to be a backhanded compliment … but the data doesn't lie. She IS a big bite of food … so I hope you're hungry! You can follow Erika's work on Instagram where she can be found as @consultantbarbie. And while this is a wrap on Season 2 we do have a quick ask of you: Please tell us which episodes should be included in our Pragmatic Summer Replay! We'll be choosing 8-10 episodes to give a second airing while Courtney breaks in publication in order to record Season 3. What episodes best capture the spirit of the show? Which ones had the biggest impact on you? What would be a good introduction for folks who are just finding us? Share wherever you're listening, on our social media (on IG as @alchemybhc or @pragmaticalchemypod) or email courtney@shineandsoar. That's also the address to send us topic ideas or guest suggestions for Season 3, questions, or any other feedback. Don't forget to rate review and subscribe wherever you're listening! Turn on some classic cartoons from the 1960s and one of the voices you're sure to hear is that of June Foray, the finest female voice actor of the 20th Century. From Stan Freberg parodies, to voicing Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, to playing Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Natasha Fatale on the classic Rocky and Bullwinkle show June was everywhere during the golden age of TV cartoons. In later life, June also became an tireless advocate for advancing the animation arts. The great Looney Tunes director Chuck Jones once said that June wasn't the female Mel Blanc - Mel was the male June Foray. High praise indeed! Find more June Foray below and thanks for sharing our shows. Want more June Foray? When June came to Hollywood she soon found a friend and fan in Stan Freberg, the master of parody. In one of her best roles, June plays "Little Blue Riding Hood" being interrogated by Stan's tough cop (an early take on his Joe Friday impersonation). https://youtu.be/hzDvoJWB3t4 When it comes to enthusiasm, few cartoon characters match Rocket J. Squirrel, the plucky flying rodent who is Bullwinkle's best friend. June's voice for Rocky is animation gold. In this bit Rocky and Bullwinkle stumble into the Hatfield-McCoy feud with predictable results. https://youtu.be/a4LPQEljkRE Rocky and Bullwinkle debuted during the Cold War and that resulted in one of June's signature character -- super spy Natasha Fatale who labored (with Boris Badenov) in futility to bring down "Moose and Squirrel". https://youtu.be/4txmBNCAXg8

Merry Christmas, Kaiju Lovers! And yes, you read that right! Nathan is covering a holiday “monster movie”—because his real sister said so! Yes, Sarah Marchand joins him as a guest host to discuss one of the movies that they've, ironically, bonded over: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey. While it stretches the purview of the podcast thinly, Nathan does justify it with some weak connections (like Rick Baker making the Grinch costume and makeup). While Sarah is quite nostalgic for this movie, having seen it when she was about the same age as Cindy Lou Who, it's a guilty pleasure for Nathan because he has issues with it as an adaptation of a classic Dr. Seuss book and the original 1966 animated TV special. Expect to hear almost the entire film—or at least Jim Carrey's lines—quoted throughout! But Nathan and Sarah do agree that, despite this movie's faults, it's better than the stupid new horror parody, The Mean One. In this episode of 25 Days of Christmas, Patricia and Carlene discuss about the 2018 Illumination animated film The Grinch, based on the 1957 book How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. In the town of Whoville, The Grinch hates Christmas for multiple reasons. He comes with an idea to steal Christmas from the Whos by disguising himself as Santa and grab all the gifts, trees, and food and tossing it away to make them miserable. Meanwhile, Cindy Lou Who wants to capture Santa so that she can make a wish to make her single, hardworking mother happy. What did Patricia and Carlene think of this film? Listen and find out. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/old-school-lane/support

We are often told to be hopeful; we are rarely told what hope actually is. It turns out, hope is nothing more than a fancy word for expectation. When wellness gurus, psychotherapists, politicians, journalists, and religious leaders tell you to keep hope alive, they are simply telling you to continue to expect things from others. But why? Why should we expect to receive things from people who, for the most part, are completely opposed to helping their neighbors? Why should we expect anything of anyone? Expectations ruin relationships. If you expect your lover to cook for you everyday, eventually they will grow tired of you and seek love elsewhere. If you expect your children to do exactly what you say at all times no matter what, they will grow to hate you and rebel against everything you have to say, even if it makes sense. If you expect your boss to give you a raise for Christmas, he will give you a lump of coal and pink slip instead. If you expect your prayers to be answered then people will laugh at you. If you expect your wish to be granted then people will call you spoiled or selfish. Political movements are often based on hope, hope that a better tomorrow will occur someday, somehow, somewhere over the rainbow...But the hope is never fulfilled, the dream is never accomplished and the belief in miracles is never legitimized. Many people were hopeful that Joe Biden would be the next FDR, but his policies are so far to the right of FDR, and always have been by the way, that such a hope is simply laughable. Many hoped Donald Trump would clean the swamp of political corruption, but he only became a part of it and made it ten times worse. We hope for things all the time and we are constantly disappointed when, yet again, Santa never leaves the little boy with cancer a Christmas present, Scrooge never lightens up on his workers and The Grinch gives Cindy Lou Who the finger as he races back to his ice mansion with all the toys and decorations on black Friday. Hope will drive you mad in the end. It will send you over the edge and there will be no one there to break your fall. You cannot expect things from people who lack empathy, who refuse to understand, who continue to mock and laugh at your suffering. Expect nothing from these people and you will be happier, much happier than you have ever been in your entire life. Identify the people who deny you, who scorn you, who would rather leave you for dead than give you a job with a fair paying wage for they are the ones who murdered hope, not me. Should you be able to expect decent working conditions, a reasonable salary and adequate transportation? Of course you should. You should also be able to work for someone who cares about your well-being. You deserve that, most people do. But, looking at the state of things today, can you really expect such things? Can you really keep living under the delusion that the same wealthy people, with all the money and resources in the world to feed, house and clothe the earth's inhabitants, and yet who choose not to, will actually help little old you? Can you really expect the leaders of today's world, who time and time again, have refused to do anything to stop climate change, but instead ask you to save the climate by denying yourself food, water and even the right to start a family, will help you maintain your civil rights? Can you really expect a government that has consistently failed to prosecute known criminals while at the same time jailing and, in some instances, murdering people for committing petty crimes will bring you any kind of sustainable peace? You would be foolish to have such expectations. You would be doing yourself great harm to expect a murderer to save your life. But do not worry because you do not need hope; you do not need expectation. You can achieve what you like with thought, with your mind. You can transcend belief. You can make the rainbow come to you. How? Value yourself and the answer will become clear. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/morecontentplease/support

We had some fun today talking all things Christmas. Have you ever thought that Frosty the Snowman, The Grinch and Here Comes Santa Clause preach Jesus? Join us as we discover the parallels between these Christmas classics and the Gospel."Frosty is such a picture of the Gospel", the kids are all sad and hopeless - until a miracle comes to bring JOY! But, following the JOY is an evil that tries to destroy it. The evil thinks he has won when he destroys Frosty, but... we know that is NOT the end of story. It is NOT the end of either story! "Christmas is not a 'what' question - it's a 'who' question". The Grinch is about a changed heart and a person who relentlessly pursues him. Cindy Lou Who saw the good in him, when he didn't see the good in himself. This is such a picture of how the Lord sees us, and relentlessly pursues us - even when we are at our worst. We pray that you see JESUS in every moment of this season, and maybe as you watch your favorite Christmas movies - you see them thru different lenses. Content warning: we end up talking about racist WWII propaganda, 9/11, and internment camps for a while around the 30 minute mark in this episode. If you want to skip that, we resume our talk about the Grinch at the 36 minute mark. We’d also like to apologize for the sound quality. We’re not exactly sure what happened between this episode and the last one, which we recorded on the same evening, but Gillian’s connection seems to have been full of feedback this time. We did our best to take out the worst blips, but if things sound odd, that’s why. We blame 2020.Gillian Daniels joins us again to talk about a Christmas special she remembers liking as a kid even though she never celebrated Christmas. Gillian is a fantasy and horror writer, and you can find her at gilliandaniels.com, on twitter as @gilldaniels, and on instagram as @gillianlynndaniels.We all agree: This one is a classic for a reason. It has great voice actors, great music, and great animation. Here’s Gillian’s summary:What I remember of the Grinch special from the seventies (?):- "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" song- Max the dog, reluctant and with antlers tied to his head- The Grinch joyfully stealing everything- Cindy Lou-Who meeting the Grinch and thinking Santa's real- The Whos down in Whoville being okay with all their stuff stolen the next morning and then singing it out- Grinch being okay with Christmas and getting to cut the roast beastThat was all pretty spot on. Charming as an eel or just the thing to grow your heart a few sizes every holiday season? We're tackling Ron Howard's garish – or utterly charming? – take on Dr. Seuss in our latest podcast episode.
Content warning: we end up talking about racist WWII propaganda, 9/11, and internment camps for a while around the 30 minute mark in this episode. If you want to skip that, we resume our talk about the Grinch at the 36 minute mark. We'd also like to apologize for the sound quality. We're not exactly sure what happened between this episode and the last one, which we recorded on the same evening, but Gillian's connection seems to have been full of feedback this time. We did our best to take out the worst blips, but if things sound odd, that's why. Here's Gillian's summary:What I remember of the Grinch special from the seventies (?):- "You're a Mean One, Mr. We really didn't imagine going into this that we would end up talking about 9/11, beowulf, and kink shaming in the course of this conversation, but there you go. It's a whole journey. "Oh, the Who-Manity!" in my best Grinch voice. No, I'm not gonna draw some mind-blowing parallel to Whoville, where Cindy-Lou Who resides. On the other hand, I would like to take you walking through Whoville, where all the Whos are allowed to steal our happiness, leaving us all Grinchy, and we never understand why!
An oft-discussed but not previously resolved question: is Die Hard a Christmas movie? We settle the matter, I guess, provided you don't care very much about the matter in the first place. Turns out the whole question turns on the secret, possibly offscreen shenanigans between Bruce and the security guard. If you can read between the scenes to imagine some help-shtooping, then you have yourself a holiday classic. Take that, Julie Andrews! Our handy rule turns out to illuminate the question for many other Christmas movie candidates, although the degree to which off-screen activity is implied is sometimes controversial. Screenwriters of the future, take note: make sure that you explicitly clarify the off or on screen antics involving the help if you want to be included in the holiday rotation. If you need help with how to write about expressly boning, email us (maskedman@limitedappeal.net). Theme music courtesy of General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners and Ipecac Recordings.
In this episode Will and Jake take a look back at the year, highlighting the most talked about issues and the guests we had that joined us. Jake confesses to being scared, and Will discusses dressing up as Cindy-Lou Who.

December is either a magical, mystical month or humans are so tired of the cold and dark that we have evented no less than 40 sacred or secular celebrations – all packed into the month of December – at least according to Wikipedia!SHOW NOTESHappy Holidays – well, at least Holidays with more ease, meaning and joy. On this episode of Crina and Kirsten Get to Work, our hosts tackle the holidays at work. How do you feel about the holidays – are you a scrooge and don’t enjoy the holidays or just do not want to participate? Are you a Tiny Tim and do it out of guilt? Or are you a Cindy Lou Who from Whoville – just spilling over with holiday joy? As listeners know, we think whoever you are is just spectacular – so embrace it, come to terms with it and make the holidays into a time that works for you.We can really step in the metaphorical “it” during the holidays – as evidenced by Crina’s tale of coming into the office early one morning to decorate her office (and those of others) with trappings of the Christmas spirit. Unfortunately, her ardor (and good intentions) did not have the desired effect as not all of her co-workers shared her enthusiasm and wanted to live in a Christmas wonderland for the next several weeks.Holidays are complicated - some of us are depressed and some are excited and some struggle with big issues from childhood that affect our holidays. There are good reasons that some of the best episodes of The Office are about the holidays. People can be really messed up.Our hosts tackle gifts, parties, activities and collective days off – at work – during the holidays,Gifts present an interesting power dynamic. Some people feel that they should not give their bosses a gift and that gifts flow down. And if that is your belief – that is just fine. Alternatively, if you are a gift giver and you find joy in that, do it – up the ladder, down the ladder, and across the ladder (and that should be a thing – across the ladder). Kirsten shares her stories of co-workers who give really fun, uplifting gifts – and her admission that she knows people at her workplace do not participate in gift giving, but she does not know who they are – and that is just fine. You will hear that a lot in this episode – what works for you is JUST FINE! Whatever you do - do not spend a lot of money!!Most employees dread parties and with good reason. Some of us feel uncomfortable interacting with our co-workers in an entirely different way, some people misbehave at parties and some people just do not like a party. Parties can be a great time for team - building and setting office culture - particularly inclusion of all employees. These kinds of parties tend to have fun activities – and keep us out of the punch bowl. Many workplaces choose to engage in a giving activity – adopting a family or a child for Christmas, working at the foodbank, delivering meals – these are all wonderful ways for co-workers to connect over something bigger than themselves. And then we have many folks’ favorite part – the collective days off where we can all stop and take a deep breath. We know these breaks are rejuvenating and necessary – and there is something really special when the whole workplace does it! Whoever you are, whatever you enjoy – make the holidays your own. If you can make agreements with people about what the holidays look like in a way that works to give you more of what you want during the holidays – wonderful. If not, remember you can make agreements with the best person to make agreements with – yourself. Okay listeners – get out there and make some more ease, meaning and joy! And a good read:Preparing for the Holidays During COVID-19
On this episode, we're investigating two very different interpretations of Dr. Seuss' ultimate holiday meanie - The Grinch. Join us as we compare and contrast the classic 1966 TV special How The Grinch Stole Christmas with the 2000 live-action feature film adaptation. Topics include: Seuss' original inspiration for the character, his reluctance to sign off on screen adaptations, why the Grinch is green, how two different directors stretched this short children's tale to the required length, the different approaches to Cindy Lou Who, how the beloved dog Max came to be under the Grinch's care, Jim Carrey's hellish experience with his costume and his extreme coping mechanisms, the 2018 Illumination version, what makes us Grinchy, and more! The Grinch didn’t steal Xmas! In this episode of Sigmund’s Café Dominic & Branden have a conversation inspired by the all time Xmas classic “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!” They cover how unjust the citizens of Whoville were to the Grinch, empathizing with those who do us wrong, & why Mr. Grinch just might actually be the most underrated Superhero.

Link: https://slatestarcodex.com/2019/12/24/acc-should-you-have-a-merry-christmas/ [This is an entry to the 2019 Adversarial Collaboration Contest by Cindy Lou Who and the Grinch] Christmas Day is a a time full of laughter and cheer which is held in the West at the end of each year. Believers in Jesus traditionally think the day marks his birth; scientists disagree. They point to the shepherds; when carolers sing about fields full of sheep, that occurs in the spring. The Star of the Magi provides further doubt. Simulations can tell us what star it’s about: it was most likely Jupiter shining near Saturn, but it’s only in autumn one sees such a pattern. It is proven in space and it’s proven on Earth – Christmas isn’t the real time of Jesus’ birth. One of the most popular Yule celebrations is handing out gifts to one’s friends and relations. Parents offer the story these presents appeared due to Santa, a jolly old man with a beard. Originally a historical saint, his tale was embellished, with little restraint. He flies through the air in a reindeer-pulled sleigh, and visits all households on Earth in a day. This tradition seems pagan, with some scholars noting the details are pulled from a legend of Odin. Though sources like NORAD appear to support Santa’s presence, we think that their data fall short. After reading the pros and the cons, we both feel the consensus perspective is Santa’s not real. And what are these gifts’ economics effects? According to Goeddeke and Birg, it’s complex. Since presents are valuable, one might assume that their giving would cause stores and markets to boom. You give to your parents! You give to your boss! But economists say it is all deadweight loss. You would spend the same money on something, you see, and presents are chosen incompetently. Others’ preferences aren’t as clear as our own, so when we buy for others, their needs are unknown. Presents don’t increase welfare and don’t increase growth; all the papers agree they are harmful to both.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas. *The one with Jim Carrey*In a magical world that exists on a snowflake…Cindy Lou Who is an antagonist! WHO knew? We'll see ourselves out…This week, Darth and Jason welcome brand new (and unsuspecting) guest, Alli, to discuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Hindsighters, this episode forces Darth and Jason to ask … WHY HE GOTTA BE A GREEN GRINCH?!? The Whos might be impervious to gravity and concrete, but greenism still hurts.Your favorite podcasters may never be able to solve the mystery of unsolicited racism in a children's Christmas movie, but they cannot rest until they determine whether yak hair costumes merit torture training. Can someone get Sarah Jessica Parker on the phone? She would know.#Hindsighters, you've got to love it when a 30 minute Christmas classic transforms into a 2 hour feature film with jokes about key parties and cuckolding. Sometimes, Hindsight ruins a childhood. Regardless, if you're Jason's neighbor, you're certainly a sex offender, but only on Halloween.Darth and Jason would love to distract you from this ugly Halloween truth with some lessons from life and this super “wholesome” movie:Star Wars is all about perspective and carefully accepted delusion. The Grinch would have LOVED Hans Gruber.Cancelling plans that you made with yourself is unacceptable. The real lesson is that we all grew up to be the Grinch. The good news is that none of us grew up to be Mike Myers in Cat in the Hat … except for Darth and Jason's trolls. Your most hated podcasters will pray for you. This week we travel all the way to Whoville to examine How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966 & 2000) and The Grinch (2018) and discuss othering, consumerism, the value of a real apology, and why Cindy Lou Who is a true punk rock queen.

Welcome to the Holiday Shows. This Episode is How The Grinch Stole Christmas Chris’s last pick of the season. We will be going through our other movie picks as well and you the listen will get to chose through our battle rounds on what is next. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (also known as Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and simply The Grinch in the UK) is a 2000 American Christmas Fantasy Comedy Film directed by Ron Howard and written by Jeffery Price and Peter S. Seaman. Based on Dr. Seuss’s 1957 Book of the same name, the film was the first Dr. Seuss book to be Adapted into a full-length feature film. The film stars Jim Carry in the title role, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Boill Irwin, Molly Shannon, and Taylor Momsen. Because the film is based on a children's picture book, many additions were made to the storyline to bring it up to feature-length, including some information about the backstory of the title character and reworking the story's minor character Cindy Lou Who as a main character. Most of the rhymes that were used in the book were also used in the film, though some of the lines were to some degree changed and several new rhymes were put in. The film also borrowed some music and character elements (such as the Grinch's green skin tone) that originated in the 1966 animated Television special. Produced by Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was released by Universal Pictures on November 17, 2000 to mixed reviews from critics yet grossed over $345 million worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest grossing film of 2000 and was originally the second highest-grossing holiday film of all-time behind Home Alone (1990). Grinches are fricky and slicky and trickyThey try to steal Christmas and make us feel icky.We all have grinches in our lives that make the holidays a little...extra. We have lots of ways of trying to deal with difficult people who seem to bring out the worst in us. Sometimes we want to just avoid them, sometimes we end up acting just like them, but what if this Christmas we could practice loving them? What does that even look like? Cindy Lou Who will be live and in person to share with us some tips on how to love those grinches. She promises not to rhyme - at least not the whole time. Or she'll owe you a dime.

In this special bonus episode, we salute the late June Foray - the titan of voice acting who passed away July 26th just shy of her 100th birthday. From Rocky Squirrel to Witch Hazel to Cindy Lou Who, chances are you've heard and enjoyed her work from a career that stretched over eighty years. Among her many radio credits is The Stan Freberg Show, one of the absolute best comedies radio ever produced and as a tribute to June Foray we'll hear two episodes (originally aired on CBS on July 21 and 28, 1957) that show off her amazing voice.
Not a Dr. Seuss character, but a funny character in her own right, Cindy Lou Who has traveled to many interesting places and also discusses her time living in Germany. I took my podcasting prowess to her home, and met her lovely household of animals; you can actually hear her dog, Hank, panting away in the background at many different points during the interview! We also discuss her plans for taking me away on one of her many upcoming cruises so we can do a podcast on location in some exotic places. Thailand, anyone?
December 16, 2016 Speaker: Luann Prater & Rachel Olsen Have you seen “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” yet this year? The real hero is Cindy Lou Who, she knew there was some good left in the Grinch. Don't be a Grinch, be Cindy Lou Who and be on the lookout for someone that could use a little extra love this Christmas.
Just in time for the stupid holidays, it's the long-awaited (by two or three people, maybe) return of the Flopcast Top 4 1/2 List! And in a desperate attempt to be festive, we're counting down our favorite holiday villains! If you've watched as many holiday cartoons as we have, you know there's a never-ending supply of creepy characters who want to stop Christmas, arrest Santa, turn Frosty into a puddle, kidnap Baby New Year, tell big fat lies to Cindy Lou Who, and of course, get rid of all the toys. (Raggedy Ann even faced a holiday villain obsessed with sealing up all the toys in "gloopstik" -- remember?) So if you're as cuddly as a cactus and as charming as an eel, we just might be celebrating you this week. (We're also celebrating World Monkey Day. We're multitasking. We're despicable and we make ourselves plain sickable. Don't judge us.)
Four Segments on strategies for navigating Holiday stress. "Keeping Reindeer Poo off of your lawn", " Are you on the Left or Right of the Holiday Photo", "Holiday Obstacle Course", and "Who is driving your Holiday Sleigh...The Grinch or Cindy Lou Who?"
Cindy Lou-Who grew up and made an awesome album.
In this week's episode, Cindy Lou Who will receive a Congressional Medal of Honor, the Catholics will sigh with relief upon realizing their latest sex scandal was just a dude stealing from the collection plate to pay a gay male porn star to pee on him, and Lucinda will join us in learning that the Bible definitely saved the best for last.
