Before we get started, I want to remind you that I invite a lot of different viewpoints on my show, and while that doesn't always mean I agree with everything said, I find dialogue from multiple perspectives helpful. As always, I invite you to think critically as you listen.Getting the news from a medical doctor that you have a terminal illness such as cancer can feel like a death sentence. And the traditional treatments for these diseases aren't much better. Many of them put poison in your body and destroy it, so even if you beat the disease, your body is still broken. If you live in the USA, traditional medicine is stuck on a singular treatment plan. Your doctor won't tell you about other options for repairing your body and overcoming disease. If you want to explore other means of treatment, you have to go outside the USA or do all the research for yourself. My guest today, Dr. Patrick Vickers, is championing one such alternative based on the work of Dr. Max Gerson. Patrick has established a clinic in Mexico to offer up these alternatives to terminal cancer patients, those struggling with diabetes, and many more diseases. He's sharing with us how Gerson Therapy works to heal patients, the methodology, and ways we can implement these treatments as preventative measures in our lives.Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/patrick-vickers-47If you are ready to crush chronic fatigue, balance your mood, reclaim your sleep, and experience a radical shift in your health. Oh, baby, baby! We are talking all things conception, pregnancy, birth, infertility, and integrative care. Deciding to start a family is a big decision. It can be exciting, scary, and can present challenges along the way. You may be in a place where you are wondering how to enrich your soil best so your baby can thrive in pregnancy. When it comes to our genetics, it can sometimes feel like we got the short end of the stick or are stuck with a dysfunctional body. However, it doesn't have to be that way. While there are some genetics you will always have to manage, when you know how to support your body, you can still have a whole and healthy life!I am SO excited for this episode because it covers so many things – health as more than nutrition and exercise, how to eat for wellness, and changing genetic expression. Hustle culture pushes us to do more and to use every moment to get ahead. While that may seem good if you are trying to start a business, make some extra cash, or get a lot done quickly, it can often lead to burnout. My new friend, Heather Paeplow, is a certified Nurse Practitioner and a health and wellness coach. After practicing in the traditional medical model for nearly a decade, Heather found she was no longer aligned with a model that primarily managed diseases. Motivated by her desire to foster holistic health, she encourages others to stop chasing symptoms and go from surviving to thriving. If you have ever forgotten to eat a meal, gotten to the afternoon without drinking a drop of water, or generally felt at the end of yourself, this episode is for you!Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/heather-paeplow-42Support the show

My friends, I loved this episode and I can't wait to share it with you! When you hear “medicine,” what comes to mind? Is it pill bottles and doctors? If so, you definitely aren't alone. In western culture, we associate medicine strongly with these images, but rarely do we consider what we eat as medicine that will either help or hurt our bodies. That needs to change.Isa Kujawski, my guest today, is at the forefront of changing our perception of food, believing it should be viewed as medicine for our bodies. She is a functional Registered Dietitian, author, Navy veteran, and founder of Mea Nutrition. In today's episode, we talk about all things functional nutrition, mind-body connection, and the importance of physical and mental detox.Let's jump in! ❤️Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/isa-kujawski-39/Support the show
After a couple solo episodes, I'm back with a guest today! And this conversation is a GOOD one!
We are jumping into a juicy topic today! It's something that everyone struggles with, but few people get down to the underlying issues causing it. Our topic today is all about fatigue—what causes chronic fatigue, what you can do to have better energy, what issues go hand-in-hand with fatigue, and how YOU can gain more energy. Sounds awesome, right!?So if you are someone who, like me, had to plan your schedule around how much energy you have or don't have, feel like you don't have enough energy to even get through the day, or just want to understand why you feel tired all the time, this episode is for you! The goal of this episode is not to bury you with health jargon, but to give you knowledge you can implicate right away. Let's dive in!P.S. Curious if you struggle with chronic fatigue? Here's a free quiz!Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/overcoming-fatigue-37/Support the show
I love bringing you experts to help me bring different topics and information to you, but in this episode I'll be going solo to teach you about something I firmly believe in: Sleep.Did you know that everything in your health flows out of sleep? So, yes, it's pretty darn important. In today's episode, I want to give you a roadmap for how you can reclaim your sleep, as there are so many people out there struggling with some form of roadblock to a good night's sleep (and I have been right there with you!).If you are ready to transform your sleep, listen in!Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/how-to-reclaim-sleep-36/Support the show
My friends, I've got a great episode for you today, especially for all my entrepreneurs out there! For many of us in the holistic health industry, we've had to build our businesses from the ground-up. That means struggling to build an audience and wearing all the “hats” from marketing to accounting to working with clients. It can be such a challenge to get your business out there and do what you are passionate about: helping people. My guest today is a specialist in teaching holistic nutritionists and health coaches how to build a profitable online practice (get this: without just relying on social media). Andrea Nordling is a lifelong entrepreneur, a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP), a business coach, and so much more! In this episode, she is diving deep into some of the secrets to getting a thriving business off the ground.Heads up: This episode is a bit longer than normal, and every minute of it is SO good. I loved Andrea's energy, excitement, and expertise about this topic, and I know you will too!Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/andrea-nordling-35/Support the show
We tend to think aging has to come along with our bodies breaking down; we gain weight easier, have a lower libido, experience poor sleep, and have mood swings. But what if you didn't have to accept this fate? What if there was something you could do to live the second half of your life with vibrance, energy, and grace? That's exactly what my guest, Leslie Bumpas, did. When she hit menopause, Leslie decided she didn't want to accept all the typical symptoms that come along with it. So she started researching! Today, at 66 years old, she uses nutrient-dense foods and supplements to feel just as energetic as she did in her 20s! Incredible, right?Leslie works as a Functional Medicine Nutritionist and an expert in Women's Wellness. It's her passion to work with women and help them age well with grace and strength. This was SUCH a good conversation, and I'm eager to share it with you today!Show Notes: https://whollywell.health/leslie-bumpas-34/Support the show
I've got a question for you: when faced with a family health crisis, would you do everything in your power, including walking away from your career, to find a solution for your loved one's ailment?Well, my guest today did just that! Through many obstacles, Cynthia Winning (founder and CEO of Vynedic, Inc., a biotech company specializing in Amino Acid Metabolic Technology) helped create one of the most profound and groundbreaking wellness products currently on the market. And the story behind the lengths she went so that her sister could reclaim a normal life is truly inspiring! From product creation to development, you'll hear about Amino Acid technology, the sister who inspired it all, and how to advocate for yourself in the midst of your health journey. It's time for another solo episode and today I am talking about a hot topic I get questions about ALL the time. This is something I know people are thinking about (especially as we enter into the summer months), and that is the metabolism! Many people think they have an understanding of how their metabolism works, but I have my doubts that the majority of people really know what it does for their body. So in today's episode, we are going to talk about what your metabolism is and what it isn't, how you could be killing your own metabolism with various diet fads, and how you can start to support your metabolism to serve you better. It's an honor to provide resources like this for you! Welcome back to the Wholly Well podcast! I am so excited to dive into the topic of health and fitness today… but first, set down your preconceived notions for this topic. Friends, I am so excited about my guest on the Wholly Well Podcast this week! Danielle Hively is a fellow Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner that I've been fortunate to connect with via Instagram. She has a powerful story and, as you'll soon find out, a gift for inspiring others with hope and healing.Danielle had struggled with digestive issues for years, culminating in a hospitalized episode after an overseas trip. After an Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis, heart issues, and more, she started to look for answers herself. Following several months of extensive research, she stumbled upon the Nutritional Therapy Association and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and enrolled in both. Functional medicine has helped her walk her own health journey with parasites, mold, and detoxing. Today, she helps other women with health issues find balance and freedom while creating lasting relief by addressing root causes. In this episode, we dive into the difference between drainage and detoxing, the great parasite buzzword, and some practical habits we can incorporate to support our body through all of this. This conversation was a perfect mix of educational and inspiring, and I know you're going to love it!Show Notes: https://www.whollywell.me/wholly-well-blog/drainage-parasites-danielle-hively-9Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/whollywell)
This week, I get to share the second half of my two-part conversation with Michael Rutherford. (If you missed part one, be sure to listen to it here!) We continue our conversation about thyroid health, and there are so many great takeaways in this one!Michael and I connected via the great land of Instagram, where he shares holistic health practices as The Thyroid Coach. From a young age, Michael was no stranger to extreme digestive issues. IBS contributed to a horrible quality of life. He was consuming 2000mg of Ibuprofen daily, with constant pain and non-existent energy. It wasn't until a conversation with his dad that he was led down the path of diet changes and holistic approaches. Through this, he experienced healing change. Now a champion for nutrition and health, he equips men and women through training, coaching and community at Fundamenta Wealth. Michael lives in the Pacific Northwest with his twin boys.In this episode, we dig a little deeper into why “your labs look fine” isn't the end of the road, why we often need to eat more food, and some super helpful insight into Vitamin D. I know you're going to enjoy this half of the conversation, and all the practical tips along the way!Show Notes: https://www.whollywell.me/wholly-well-blog/part-2-michael-rutherfordSupport the show (https://www.paypal.me/whollywell)

As a new mom, I found postpartum to be a shocking series of events with my hormones, body, and emotions. Navigating this period of life on sparse sleep — and unrealistic expectations — I not only floundered but felt like I was drowning. And I know many of you can relate: this has been a topic many women have asked me to cover over the years. I'll be sharing my entire health and postpartum story in an upcoming episode, but today we're taking a deep dive into hormones + postpartum recovery!I'll be honest, there's so much misunderstood about the postpartum recovery period. And while we're surprised by our issues popping up six, nine, even twelve months postpartum, much of this is directly connected and correlates with our misunderstanding, and quite frankly, disrespect for this precious recovery window. In today's episode, we're taking a journey through postpartum by taking a look from a historical perspective as well as unpacking the role of hormones and adrenals in this season. We'll also look forward with hope as I share practical ways to biohack the postpartum period and honor your body along the way.Friend, my hope is that you'll leave this episode giving yourself radical grace that flows into every season of your life!Show Notes: https://www.whollywell.me/wholly-well-blog/postpartum-recovery-hormonesSupport the show (https://www.paypal.me/whollywell)

Cait Crowell lives outside of Denver, CO with her husband Stuart and her adorable french bulldog Denali. Many of ya'll know her from instagram where you can find her @whatcaitate. I've come to know Cait both in person and on instagram, like many of you, I quickly connected with her message on holistic health and transparency, I also connected deeply with her consistent message of honesty, vulnerability and burnout in nutritional therapy and a return to a more intentional and minimal way of life. Cait has always made time for me and my endless questions on/about nutritional therapy, running a practice, social media strategy and more. On this episode I hope to step outside of the box of what you might expect two nutritional therapists would converse about. I'm passionate about people's story and how our real lives mesh and flow into our work. Cait and I touch on topics including how she has flowed more into mindset work alongside nutritional therapy and the integral role of mindset shifts, shifting her business and brand, emphasizing foundational health practices, diet culture, taking a break from instagram and the lessons that taught her, achieving balance in her day-to-day and her favorite local eatery in/around Denver. At the end: I'm excited to announce a project I've been working on for a little over two months now. I'm launching my first ever step-by-step, play-by-play E-book, titled “reclaiming your mood, sleep + sanity.” This is all the dirty details about my battle with adrenal fatigue, insomnia and crippling anxiety, the strategies and helpful tips I've learned along the way, all condensed and delivered to your inbox. I'm passionate about sharing my story in hopes it can help just one person find answers in one place, and save them hours of research. What is "Nutritional Therapy"?Optimal health is everyone's goal! But as we make our way through life, we often develop symptoms of ill health and feel a loss of vitality.Nutritional Therapy Practitioners dig deep to identify the root cause of these symptoms and address underlying imbalances so that the client can thrive with optimal health. What is an example of an “imbalance” you might ask?Imagine if you consumed too many omega-6 fatty acids and not enough omega-3 fatty acids (That's right there are different types of Omega Acids- see why NTP's are helpful?)This imbalance can contribute to a host of issues:inflammationskin problemsslow healingdepression. One more example that's seen frequently? -someone who is deficient in a particular nutrient, such as iron. Showing symptoms of:fatigueslow metabolismSo what exactly do we do?We use a comprehensive Nutritional Assessment tool to graph an individual's areas of strength and weakness (or “imbalances”) in the categories of:dietdigestionblood sugar regulationessential fatty acid balancemineral balancehydrationThese six areas are the foundations of nutritional therapy. Join me as I take a deep dive into what these foundations mean for optimal, or not-so-optimal health and wellness.
