Find out more about Donna on her website: https://www.artisanfacebody.com/home ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ ︎ABOUT OUR GUEST: Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Anesthesiology, Donna Gonzalez is not only an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist, but a skilled and experienced advanced aesthetic practitioner. Proudly, she is also a national trainer of aesthetics with the American Institute of Aesthetic Medicine (AIAM). More than 20 years ago, Donna graduated nursing school with honors and began her career as a trauma and ICU specialist at Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital and Doctor's Hospital in Coral Gables. She worked closely with some of the country's finest doctors, surgeons and nurses. These colleagues include some of the most prominent oral maxillofacial surgeons as well as nationally recognized plastic surgeons. Always thirsting for more knowledge, Donna, broadened her scope of nursing practice to incorporate neuroscience and post anesthesia care. It wasn't long before she found herself enrolled in one of the finest nurse anesthesia programs in the country and graduated as a nurse anesthetist. Subsequent training and practice in neuroscience and anesthesiology afforded her the ability to work with aesthetics for medical treatments, which later blossomed into cosmetic aesthetics. The culmination of her educational background and clinical experience has given Donna the opportunity to implement theoretical and practical experience in creatively combining the art and science of aesthetic treatments to her repertoire. In many circles “DG” is known as “the cannula queen”, for using a highly skilled technique to minimize bruising, bleeding and overall downtime. Donna's focus and passion is completely on the field of aesthetic medicine. It is her belief that both men and women of all ages deserve to look their best, whether it be for cosmetic reasons or sometimes even medical. Donna understands aesthetic medicine at a cellular level to combine therapies with the latest skin rejuvenating techniques providing naturally beautiful results that are reproducible with each treatment! Take note that treatments are not exclusive to the face but to the body as well! DG's results are achieved by utilizing any combination of wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, PDO threads, Stem Cell and Fibrin therapy (PRF/PRP), collagen stimulation therapy (CST), skin brightening and resurfacing with laser therapy and the use of medical grade cosmeceuticals…let us not forget skillful technique and expert knowledge! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/13th-ave-media/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/13th-ave-media/support

Jacqui O'Riordan is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner from Harrogate, North Yorkshire in the UK. She has worked as a mental health nurse for almost 20 years, including working in a secure unit with chronically ill patients. She has worked in crisis assessment with Accident and Emergency and the Police since 2008.  Now 49, Jacqui was diagnosed as autistic and ADHD a year ago, and her two children are also autistic. Since learning more about autism, she has begun to question the lack of proper training in neurodiversity that mental health professionals in the UK are currently given. She wants to see a push for better training and the inclusion of autistic staff in planning and delivering training. To this end, she recently set up a working group of autistic staff who work in her NHS organisation, including a Consultant Psychiatrist, social workers, nurses and admin staff, to explore this further. In our conversation we talk about: ➡ How she and her children came to realise they were all autistic ➡ The positives and the challenges of living as a newly diagnosed family unit ➡ How her work as a psychiatric nurse has been impacted and informed by her deepening understanding of autism, and addressing the lack of knowledge and awareness in the profession Squarepeg is a podcast in which neurodivergent women, and trans and nonbinary people, explore navigating a neurotypical world and share their insights, challenges and successes. I hope that these conversations will be inspiring and thought provoking, open you up to new ways of thinking about being neurodivergent, and help you feel more connected to a worldwide community of people with similar experiences. I'm Amy Richards, and after being diagnosed autistic at the age of 37 I'm now on a mission to learn more about different perspectives and issues around being a neurodivergent adult in a world that feels like it doesn't quite fit. Theresa highlights how newer multiple myeloma treatments are less associated with the traditional side effects of chemotherapy, but have their own unique side effect profile. Theresa outlines very clearly the effects of treatment on the ‘blood factory', kidneys, bones and nerves. Theresa also provides important tips on how patients can manage common side effects of steroids, bone medication as well as managing symptoms including fatigue and peripheral neuropathy. Finally, Theresa highlights the importance of not suffering in silence, healthcare professionals are there to help you manage any side effects, don't be afraid to ask no matter how trivial or embarrassing it may be for you, our aim is to keep you on treatment with the minimum side effects for as long as they are effective. “Cancer is only one chapter in your life it's not the whole story”. In this episode, Dr Louise Newson is joined by Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Mandy Garland and Specialist Nurse, Sharon Hartmann - together they discuss nurse education for menopause and HRT in primary care.  Both Mandy and Sharon chose to develop their own skills and knowledge in menopause by completing the accredited training through the British Menopause Society. They are currently waiting to submit their final log book; following an intensive 2 years of study, specialist visits and practical assessments.  In this podcast, Dr Newson chats to Mandy and Sharon about how they have used evidence based practice to develop a pathway of care, offering patients at their busy NHS surgery a holistic service founded on NICE guidance; such as initiating and reviewing a patient’s use of HRT. This has been particularly challenging due to the lack of funding their surgery receives for management of the menopause. Mandy and Sharon hope that the long term benefits will be evident, with the improved quality of life women experience when on appropriately prescribed HRT, and that nurses all over the UK will receive the same opportunity to study at a higher level. Mandy Garland, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Menopause Specialist and Nurse Prescriber - @garland_mandy Sharon Hartmann, Specialist Nurse: Integrated Sexual Health, Menopause Specialist and Nurse Prescriber - @hartmann_sharon Mandy and Sharon's Three Take Home Tips for nurses who want to gain a better menopause education: Menopause is a complex, in-depth subject and should be seen as a Holistic Medicine. During your training, find a like-minded nurse or professional that you can work with and study alongside. Attend as many clinics as you can within the local area and work with your local pharmacy.
