Matt Waxman learned the game in high school, but really got his career going in 2009 when he final tabled a $5,000 no-limit hold'em event at the World Series of Poker. The Parkland, Florida native won a WSOP Circuit ring the next year in Atlantic City, and followed that up with his biggest score to date, taking down the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris for just over $720,000. Waxman nearly won the Festa al Lago Classic the next year, and in 2013, he won his first WSOP bracelet, banking $305,000 for topping a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event. Waxman had a deep run in the 2014 WSOP main event, and just last year, he picked up his second WPT title, pocketing $463,000 at the WPT Tournament of Champions. In total, the 34-year-old has more than $4.1 million in live tournament earnings to go along with millions more won online. 2 Dec 2018 - Rev. Alex Jacob, on the First Sunday in Advent, tells us that in this season we cannot just look in one direction. We cannot just look back to the birth of the Messiah, and we cannot just look forward to his Second Coming. In order to have the full picture of the Gospel in the present, we must look to the past and to the future. Readings: Jeremiah 33:14-16, 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13, Luke 21:25-36

18 March 2018 - Guest speaker Alex Jacob, director of CMJ UK, looks at some of the historical aspects of CMJ. For New Testament writers this passage is vey significant. Jeremiah 31 is one of the most important passages that leads people to faith, although often the journey to faith is not straightforward. CMJ founder Joseph Samuel Levi became a believer through this passage saying, “These words, I have never heard before. This man and the reading he shared made a deep and lasting impression on me and I was challenged.” On 8 May 1798, Joseph Samuel was baptised in Germany and agreed to be given a new name, Joseph Frey. What is meant by "new" covenant in Jeremiah 31. Is it new that breaks with the past? Or is it new as in renewal and enlargement of previous covenants? Alex makes the case for the latter.
