Faith is a factor in healing, but there is complexity and nuance within that statement. One thing we do know is that Jesus told us to have the faith of a child. Lacy Finn Borgo wrote a book on just that, and today she shows us what the innocence and faith of children have to teach us amidst our suffering. Lacy also talks to us about her children's book, All Will Be Well, which she wrote to help children process the loss of someone dear in their lives. This is a great episode that might surprise you! Some of life's greatest lessons come from unexpected teachers. For Lacy Finn Borgo, some of her greatest teachers have been children. In Lacy's new book, Faith Like a Child: Embracing Our Lives as Children of God, Lacy invites us to consider what we might learn from children. Moreover, could welcoming our child selves draw us deeper into wholeness and our relationship with God?Lacy Finn Borgo teaches and provides spiritual direction through Renovaré, Mercy Center Burlingame, Companioning Center, and with children at Haven House, a transitional facility for families without homes. She holds a doctor of ministry degree in leadership and spiritual formation and a certificate in spiritual direction from Portland Seminary. Borgo has also authored Spiritual Conversations with Children and the children's book, All Will Be Well. In our time together, Lacy and I discuss what we can learn from children and what it means to welcome our child selves. We also consider the importance of tending to childhood wounds, how to remain open to wonder amidst life's griefs and brokenness, and why imagination is pivotal in the life of faith. The discussion on Climate Change has become a dogma that is cult like. Everyone must accept man made climate change as fact and any questioning of that is mocked and ridiculed, the term "Climate Change Denier" is used to silence all dissent. Jeremy Nieboer is someone who for the last decade has sought to understand climate change and analyse the "facts" behind it. The truth is that the story we are given is not based on any data or fact but on fear and propaganda. Jeremy's latest book 'Climate, All Is Well, All Will Be Well' which is a must read for anyone who wants to know the truth about the Climate Change ballyhoo. Jeremy Nieboer was educated at Harrow School and Oriel College Oxford. After a period practising as a member of the Bar in Kings Bench Walk he was later admitted as a solicitor becoming a partner in two City law firms. He specialised in corporate work, including mergers and acquisitions, capital market public offerings, private equity transactions and commercial law. He still acts for a few long-standing clients. His first encounter with any challenge to the accepted doctrine of 'global warming' came through his contact with Christopher Booker, whom Jeremy first met when acting as lead solicitor on the application by Lord Rees-Mogg to restrain ratification of the Maastricht Treaty. Christopher himself published his essential work "The Real Global Warming Disaster" in 2009. Just at the time of its publication, there was a public meeting in Church House addressed by Professor Plimer in which he succinctly set out the fundamental scientific flaws of alleged CO2 driven global warming. It was this that set Jeremy on a path of enquiry and research. Jeremy has since spoken at numerous meetings as to the want of any tenable scientific basis for the vast proposed expenditure on the folly of de-carbonisation. He published his first booklet on climate alarmism with the Bruges Group in 2010, "A Lesson in Democracy", and has been a lead speaker at public meetings and debates on the subject. Jeremy's latest book ‘Climate, All is Well, All Will be Well' available on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Climate-all-well-will/dp/1838065857/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= And he will be giving a talk on his book at ‘The Winston Smith Literary Review' event at Wallingford Town Hall, near Oxford on Wednesday 22nd June at 7pm, free entry and all are welcome! Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) - Episode 472 - THE WOOD DRAKE SESSIONS with Paul Ranheim and Kirk Sauers Wood Drake Sessions' co-creators Paul Ranheim (top) and Kirk Sauers. About The Wood Drake Sessions Birthed in 2020 when longtime friends Paul Ranheim and Kirk Sauers began songwriting via Zoom, The Wood Drake Sessions is a creative collective seeking to provide inspired and timely worship songs for the Church. The Wood Drake Sessions also offers a variety of resources, including charts, lead sheets and tutorials to help worshiping communities sing together. Ranheim is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, worship leader, pastor and church planter currently on staff at Redeemer Longmont in Colorado. A Pacific Northwest native, he has served with Young Life as well as at churches in Spokane, Washington; Santa Barbara, California; St. Louis and Nashville, among others. Currently a worship leader and artist-in-residence at First Presbyterian Church in Augusta, Georgia, Sauers spent eight years in Nashville as a songwriter, touring mandolinist and background vocalist. His acclaimed solo worship EP, Always and Forever, released in 2015 and Sauers' songs have been recorded by bluegrass favorite Lonesome River Band and chart-topping Canadian country artist Jess Moskaluke, among others. THE WOOD DRAKE SESSIONS FULL-LENGTH DEBUT WITH SANDRA MCCRACKEN AND LESLIE JORDAN AMONG STANDOUT COLLABORATORS From the Valley to the Golden Shore Released April 29, 2022 NASHVILLE, Tenn.—From the Valley to the Golden Shore, the full-length debut from worship newcomers The Wood Drake Sessions, is set to bow April 29. Showcasing collaborations with such luminaries as bestselling singer/songwriter and worship leader Sandra McCracken; singer/songwriter Leslie Jordan (All Sons & Daughters); modern hymnist Wendell Kimbrough; and NPR-lauded singer/songwriter Liz Vice, among others, the album was written by The Wood Drake Sessions' co-creators Paul Ranheim and Kirk Sauers. Produced by Lucas Morton, From the Valley to the Golden Shore features nine roots-based, organic pop tracks conveying the surety of Christ's sovereignty despite the turmoil of the times. Offering a preview of the album's overarching message, the April 15 Easter-themed single “All Will Be Well” is a Sauers-led track joyfully proclaiming Jesus' victory over death, “I'm alive/I have won/See the grave I've overcome.” Additional highlights include album opener “Oh How Good To Be Together,” an engaging corporate worship anthem led by McCracken; “I See A King,” with Vice's signature vocals atop an R&B-infused groove celebrating the Savior who will right all wrongs; the Kimbrough-featured “Grace Will Prevail,” articulating God's unfailing promises; and Jordan's poignant closer, “Bountifully With Me,” a gentle song of praise for Christ's provision. “Our great desire is to see the Church flourish today, and we believe new songs that capture God's faithfulness and great deeds in the midst of our cultural moment are important for her flourishing,” Sauers shares. “We hope our music can inspire and stir the affections of our hearts to continue to love, trust and enjoy God. We also envision these songs helping shape the faith of God's people as they sing them together in worshiping communities, serving not just to help us know Truth and inform our heads, but to feel Truth and shepherd our hearts.” “All too often we feel like we're drowning in the noise of this world,” Ranheim adds. “We need to be reminded that we have a King who is coming, and believers of all cultures, races, and times—along with all creation itself—will rejoice at the restoration and shalom that Jesus will bring. We need songs that shape us to hope deeply in Him.” “We wanted the album to be brought to life by a variety of people, to have greater representation than just our own voices,” Ranheim continues. “I still remember the moment I heard Sandra in my head singing ‘Oh How Good To Be Together,' and I knew she could make that song come to life unlike anyone else. Pretty soon we found ourselves reaching out to a handful of artists who all generously agreed to join in our mission.” “The Wood Drake Sessions name was inspired by a Wendell Berry poem, ‘The Peace of Wild Things,'” explains Sauers of both the duo's moniker and mission. “When despair grows within, the poet writes of lying down ‘where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water.' The imagery of a still and worriless creation extending its welcome of peace profoundly touched the ache of our hearts. Paul and I knew this was how we wanted our songs to exist—as works of art inviting us into the stillness of God's presence, the grace of His goodness, and the rest of perfect peace.” For further information: visit thewooddrakesessions.com or turningpointpr.com. All Will Be Well: white-out in Parachute, Colorado. Meredith reflects on her many trips back and forth across the country from 2010-2017. She finds herself surprised at the uncommon quiet in Sturgis, South Dakota with what would have been the time for one of their famous motorcycle rallies. She stops for the night near the autumn colored Twin Falls, Idaho and then is off to the Green River State Park. It's not long until she's on the road again, thinking of poetry and heading East to Colorado with temperatures falling rapidly. All of the sudden she's in the midst of a blizzard and she bundles up to keep warm. Who can read with mittens on? Snowball is having trouble and Meredith spends the night in a hotel. The next day, as she crosses a stretch of Colorado river, a white horse on a hill captures her focus, and she is reminded, “all will be well”. This Passion Sunday is, in one way, a very sad day: Walking with Jesus on this day can break your heart. But it's also the brightest of days, because it tells how very much we are loved, and because it reminds us, who view it from the vantage point of the resurrection, that despite all appearances, ALL WILL BE WELL! So let us rejoice, because, thanks be to our good God, ALL WILL BE WELL!

Freed from the catacombs, Ol' Matty is now pursued by a vengeful M16 packing bear and has somehow used his "charms" to befriend a secret kingdom of hunters. Surprisingly civil, Ol' Matty decides to repay them with a Delicious Word Sandwich, regaling the story of King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard, which can only go well because it's not too colonialist. Idiot.EPISODE NOTES:Published in 1886 on a five shilling wager that he could write a story as good as Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, H. Rider Haggard became the penultimate pioneer of what would become the lost world genre, which would go on to inspire The Man Who Would Be King, The Lost World and eventually even Indiana Jones. Now, we watch how Ol' Matty, who idolises Indy, dances around not associating himself with big game hunting. Dance, ya hunter, dance. He tells the tale of King Solomon's Mines, the story of famed hunter Alan Quatermain and his friends travelling to the secret kingdom of Kukuanaland, fighting to return the rightful king to the throne and discovering the fabled diamond treasure. One of the original and archetypal old fashioned adventure stories that few could balk at, and yet Ol' Matty's new friends seem utterly outraged. In a turn of events that was truly shocking, it seems this was a radical sect of the tribe from the story that were still loyal to the usurped king and his diabolical witch general, and thus it was that Ol' Matty had to make yet another hare brained, and bear pawed, escape. Now, you may ask about the bear paws. He cut off the bears hands, the bear ate his other human hand, Matt sewed the paws on crudely and they have since been surgically integrated into his body proper thanks to the tribe's liquid diamond technology. He asked after the procedure, naturally, if new human hands were possible (they totally were). All the same, Ol' Matty has created a wonderfully delicious word sandwich with all the danger and mystery of Haggard's iconic lost world adventure, hunting through the jungles of history (bread), story (meat), characters (cheese), themes (sauce) and his final thoughts (seasoning). On the run from both the bear and the tribe, he may have forgotten to add salad. One step forward, two steps backward and into their awaiting spears? One can only hope.King Solomon's Mines (1885) is a rollicking adventure by the English Victorian adventure writer and fabulist Sir H. Rider Haggard. It tells of a search of an unexplored region of Africa by a group of adventurers led by Allan Quatermain for the missing brother of one of the party, with startling imagery and visceral adventure around every corner. It is the first English adventure novel set in Africa, and is considered to be the genesis of the Lost World literary genre. Just keep the colonial/imperialist undertone in the back of the mind, taking the whole thing with a grain of salt. Note, add a little salt to sandwich.Love stories? About this episode: Today’s guest is a Nashville-native and one of the most talented piano musicians of our time. Songwriter/artist Gabe Dixon, began playing music at age 7, with exposure to household names like Elton John, The Allman Brothers and Paul Simon. Natural talent and interest in music, led him to pursue a career writing songs and performing alongside names like: Gavin DeGraw, Alison Krauss and Union Station, OAR, Supertramp and many others. Early in his career he picked up a gig playing keys and vocals on Paul McCartney’s 2001 album “Driving Rain” and shortly after performed with the Beatle’s legend at a fundraiser concert in New York City. I was excited to have him in the studio last week to talk about his evolution from The Gabe Dixon band to going solo, and co-writing hits like “All Will Be Well” and “Find My Way” with songwriter and Semisonic frontman, Dan Wilson. Gabe also expands on the theme and production process for this recent album “Turns To Gold,” and why the uncertainty that comes with songwriting is what makes the creative process so rewarding. Visit gabedixon.com for news on his latest projects, show dates and more. You can see Gabe on tour this April with singer/songwriter artist Tyrone Wells. You’ve heard Tyrone’s music on tv shows like “American Idol,” “Grey’s Anatomy” “One Tree Hill,” and most recently “This is Us.” Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@NSAIOfficial) to stay up to date with upcoming events and more. Starting the new series All Will Be Well
This week, we're joined by the hilarious and conveniently located James Colley! We discuss the joys of being an online nuisance (it's no coincidence this is an extra-long episode), the importance of expressing oneself (even if it's into a mailbox), and the perils and pitfalls of OKCupid profiles. Also, Tom asks if James' mum is hot! Woo!Also - we got so much great listener mail this week that this turned into a bumper-length episode. The length of a bumper! That's pretty long. Anyway, thanks!MUSIC USED:SSJ Theme 2: Xavier Rubetzki NoonanAll Will Be Well: RoccoWBonus Oceans: Jeff RosenstockCLICK HERE to download!Check out James' podcast: Stop The PostsFind him on Twitter: @JamColleyEmail Tom or Xavier or both!
