We watched Dangerous Animals! It's a movie where it's about a serial killer or just a killer or maybe he just does some fishing but anyways he grabs people and films them while his victims get eaten by sharks. It's a time.Check out links https://linktr.ee/kingsofkillpodcast

Guess who's back? No, not Generalissimo Francisco Franco, he's still dead. We've got someone much better than him: the Blonde in Front, Cati Glidewell has returned to join John and El'Ahrai as they review "The Roses", "The Conjuring: Last Rites", "Dangerous Animals", and "Twinless"! Sounds like a rip-roaring good time! You should listen! There's sinning in my heart, there's evil in the world but when I got no one, I talk to God. I ask for strength, I ask for forgiveness, not peace at the end of my days when I got no more life to live or no more good to do but today, right now... What's your heaven?

Evan is off this week, so Megan regales Dave with a tale so strange, we thought we'd never hear it on Spoilerpiece: Jai Courtey is excellent in DANGEROUS ANIMALS (2:31). Who knew? He's a serial killer who loves sharks! Then they caught up with Darren Aronofsky's CAUGHT STEALING (7:30), which is not the movie either Megan or Dave signed up for (it's Aronofsky; they should have known), but they really enjoyed it nonetheless. They round things out with Jay Duplass's THE BALTIMORONS (29:26), which they hated until they loved. Over on Patreon, we celebrate Terence Stamp by watching LINK (1986).

If you're a fan of genre, there was no better place to be at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 than in Ballroom 20 on Thursday night for the Collider Ladies Night After Dark panel. Ladies Night joined forces with the IFC Entertainment Group to celebrate two titles gearing up for their Shudder debut, and to unveil first looks at three upcoming theatrical releases. Even better? It all happened with five big-screen powerhouses - Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Alexandra Shipp, Katie Douglas and Hassie Harrison. In true Collider Ladies Night fashion, the group began by pinpointing pivotal early career experiences that helped pave the way to their latest projects. After that, Douglas and Harrison revisited their time on the Clown in a Cornfield and Dangerous Animals sets, respectively, and then Keen, Nélisse and Shipp debuted the very first footage for their upcoming films. For Keen and Nélisse, that meant celebrating the world premiere of the teaser trailer for their new horror film, Whistle. Directed by Corin Hardy, Whistle puts the focus on a group of friends who happen upon an ancient Aztec death whistle. When someone blows the whistle or hears its sound, the countdown begins. Their future deaths start coming for them. From there, Shipp put the spotlight on Violent Ends, a revenge thriller that poses the question, “If you lost the most dear thing to you, what the fuck would you do to the people who took it from you?” Collider Ladies Night After Dark had the privilege of showing off one of Shipp's most breathtaking moments in the movie before turning towards another upcoming release, Forbidden Fruits. In that one, Shipp stars opposite Lili Reinhardt, Victoria Pedretti and Lola Tung as a group of women who “work at a Free People-esque mall shop,” and also practice witchcraft. Hosted on Acast. Send us a textThe theatrical landscape of 2025 tells a fascinating story through its box office patterns and creative trends. Animation continues its unstoppable theatrical dominance across multiple studios, while long-running franchises like Mission Impossible and Jurassic World show unmistakable signs of fatigue. Has the time come to put these decades-old properties to rest? Our midyear film roundup reveals a striking preference for original storytelling over franchise continuation. From the breathtaking coastal beauty of Paolo Sorrentino's Parthenope to the inventive shark thrills of Dangerous Animals, our top picks demonstrate cinema's continued ability to surprise and captivate. Steven Soderbergh's spy thriller Black Bag showcases masterful craftsmanship, while Tim Robinson's Friendship brings his distinctive comedic sensibilities to feature length with remarkable success. The conversation turns passionate when discussing Ryan Coogler's Sinners and Ari Aster's Eddington – films that blend genres with extraordinary confidence while delivering profound thematic depth. Both represent bold, auteur-driven visions that resonated deeply with audiences seeking thoughtful, challenging cinema.Looking ahead, the remainder of 2025 promises an embarrassment of riches from acclaimed filmmakers including Park Chan-wook, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Jim Jarmusch. Their upcoming works, alongside anticipated releases like Edgar Wright's The Running Man and Blumhouse's Weapons, suggest our year-end lists may undergo significant transformation. What films have captured your imagination in 2025? Join our conversation about this remarkable year in cinema and share your own discoveries and disappointments.
