Als Einstimmung auf die beiden von radioeins präsentierten Berliner Paul Kalkbrenner-Konzerte gab es in dieser „elektro beats“-Ausgabe ein ausführliches Special von Olaf Zimmermann. Paul Kalkbrenner war in den letzten 15 Jahren sechsmal zu Gast in den „elektro beats“. Parts daraus sind in dieser Sendung noch einmal zu hören. Da ging es immer um Details zu dem jeweils aktuellen Album, sehr viel Biografisches, seine Arbeitsweis, aber auch um den „Berlin Calling“-Film, das Erlernen der Trompete in frühester Jugend und vieles mehr. Den auf der Insel Usedom aufgewachsenen Wahlberliner Elektronik-Musiker und -Produzenten begrüßte Olaf Zimmermann in der zweiten „Elektro Beats“-Stunde und stellte mit ihm gemeinsam die Stücke seines neuen Albums "Alliance" vor. Denn der Ort, wo ich herkomme - Rostock - der hat mich sehr geprägt. Seit über einem Jahr sammelte ich Tracks und Tonspuren von zuhause dafür und habe immer wieder arrangiert. Ich habe allein vier Hafenrundfahrten mitgeschnitten. Das hier sind also meine „Loveletters to the Baltic Sea“ Die vertretenen Künstler*innen kommen alle aus dem Ostseeraum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Mit einigen bin ich aufgewachsen, andere habe während meines Studiums kennengelernt, mit einigen habe ich mich übers Auflegen und Musik machen angefreundet, ein paar Bekanntschaften, andere wissen gar nix von mir und sind vielleicht überrascht, dass sie hier auftauchen. Ein Track ist auch ganz frisch von der Insel Rügen von Harro Triptrap feat. Judith van Waterkant. Yeah! Der Podcast ist eine biographische Reise durch ein oft vergessenes, dünn besiedeltes Bundesland mit hoher Arbeitslosigkeit und dem größten Alkohol-pro-Kopf-Verbrauch der Republik (isso!), dessen größte Schönheit die Natur ist und wo ich eine wunderbare Kindheit verbracht habe. Aber die Straßen waren schon öfter rough. Früh musste man sich hier als Jugendliche politisieren ohne überhaupt richtig verstanden zu haben, um was es eigentlich genau geht. Früh wurde man gefragt „Bist du links oder rechts“ und mir wurde von älteren Freunden gesagt, dass ich links sagen soll und dann soll ich schnell rennen. Denn manchmal bekam man dafür auf die Fresse. Neonazis mit Springerstiefeln gehörten in den Neunzigern ganz normal zum Stadtbild und ich will nicht wissen wieviele Kilometer Umwege ich damals genommen habe um denen nicht zu begegnen. Umso mehr konnte man dann die Orte und Clubs wertschätzen, in welchen man sich frei bewegen konnte, wie das Jaz, die Stubnitz, welche mittlerweile im Hamburger Hafen liegt, oder die Fusion. Ich bin dankbar für alle Menschen, die solche Orte in der Region geschaffen und die diese mit ihrer Kunst lebendig gemacht haben und so Alternativen für Jugendliche zu „gelangweilt an der Bushaltestelle saufen“ gaben. Wie man richtig feiert und dabei aufeinander Acht gibt, habe ich früh gelernt. Natürlich haben wir uns auch mal aufs Maul gelegt, aber wie oft tat mein Gesicht eher vom Lachen weh. Was ich aus vollem Herzen sagen kann: diese Region wird immer mein zuhause sein, egal wo ich wohne. Ich bin schon öfter ein lauter und impulsiver Mensch, aber wenn mich eines zur Ruhe und Besonnenheit bringt, dann ist es die Ostsee. Ich muss regelmäßig auf sie raufstarren und manchmal reinrennen, das macht mich glücklich und pegelt mich wieder ein. Es ist schön zu wissen, dass meine Familie und Freunde mich dort immer mit offenen Armen und Wärme empfangen. Das Duo Moiselle & Wolfke hat es im Sommer zunächst in die Sammlung der DJ Sets vom Fusion Festival geschafft und sich mit dem “Bummeln gehen”-Set als Soundtrack für meinen Sommerurlaub bewährt. Das erste Türchen eröffnen die beiden mit einem Zwischenspiel zur Vorbereitung auf das Jahresende. Viel Vergnügen damit. Diese Fragmente, Schnipsel, Zwischenstücke bedeuten so viel mehr als nur die Überleitung von einem zum nächsten Track. Uns passiert es oft, dass wir ein einmaliges Vinyl-Album unserer Lieblingskünstler anhören und uns in diese Verbindungsstücke noch mehr verlieben als in die Tracks selbst. Dabei passiert in einer Pause manchmal das Wichtigste. Auch in dem Interlude der Natur, dem Winter. What do these tracks mean to you now? A: Each of this tracks had a great impact to me and is an all time favourite of mine. Like the first track Deftones - "Drive" I was listening to at the age of 16. I usesd the acoustic version because it fits better into the mix. I remember after I had listen to Aphex Twin - "Vordhosbn" and Extrawelt - "8000" my stylistic in electronic music has found a kind of direction. Q: How would you describe your development as an electronic artists, from the roots until today? A: In the first years of producing my music was very experimental. I produced in different genres but I was always more driven by the electronic stylistic. Now my music is more conceptional and more specific. And of course, I'm allowed to play my music in front of many people and being a part of a great community at Ki Records. Q: You recently released your album "Hands Rest" on your homebase label Ki Records. Whats the story behind and which interesting projects are coming next? A: The album is a summary of 2018 wich was a very difficult time for me. The title track is about to stop all activities for some time to regenerate. Its also about continue doing what you want to do. I'm very looking forward to the release of the remixes of my new Album „Hands Rest“ – a remix from Lusine for example! I also worked on a remix for Vimala and Wallis Bird, which will come out soon.

There is something so special about that city, and the energy that people share out there. Everyone seems happy, positive, smiling, and free.
