Najbolj je človek srečen, če je zdrav in če ima zdravo familijo. In celo familijo. Bojan Roš Rojen je bil v Hrastniku, odraščal v družini, ki jo je povojna razlastitev močno zaznamovala. Kot mladenič je hodil peš čez hribe v šolo, študij medicine končal z odliko, hkrati pa vodil enega najbolj znanih študentskih zbirališč v Ljubljani. Žena Katja je več kot 30 let pisala zgodbe za časopis Delo. Hči Maja je stopila po mamini poti, le da je za pripovedovanje zgodb uporabljala televizijsko kamero. Kranjc smo že lahko spoznali kot pesnico, ki je leta 2024 objavila prvenec Mreža na dlani, konec lanskega leta je izšel njen prvi roman Klopotec in skoraj hkrati je prejela še nagrado modra ptica za še neobjavljeno delo, tako da bomo njen drugi roman lahko brali že letos! Zdi se, da je Maja B. Kranjc doživela nenaden ustvarjalni razcvet, a pravzaprav gre za vseživljenjsko gojenje veščine, saj v pesniški zbirki Mreža na dlani lahko preberemo, da se s poezijo sooča že od otroštva. Avtorico je pot vodila od dramaturgije do psihologije, zato nas ne preseneča, da se roman Klopotec ne razpira v široko zastavljeno zgodbo, temveč gre v globino in se odvija na ravni čustev, notranjih doživljanj in odnosov. Vse zunanje praktično odpade, v kratkih poglavjih se izmenjujeta glasova Vere in njene hčerke Nine, zadaj slišimo zvok klopotca, ki je včasih tišji in počasnejši, spet drugič pa glasno tolče v neusmiljenem ritmu. Klopotec iz naslova je osrednja metafora romana, je tisto, kar si mati in hči delita, čeprav tega dolgo ne vesta. Obe ga čutita v trebuhu in v prsih, ta klopotec, ki je pravzaprav ime za tesnobo in osamljenost. Vsaka zase se v samoti borita s temi občutki. Kar ju združuje, ju hkrati tudi ločuje, zaradi tesnobe se ogradita tako druga od druge kot tudi od sveta nasploh. V ospredju romana je zapleten odnos med materjo in hčerjo. Vera je mamo izgubila, ko je bila še otrok. Njeno otroštvo se je takrat končalo, saj je morala stopiti v prevelike mamine čevlje in prevzeti skrb za starejšega, a manj zrelega brata. Strogi oče je pričakoval, da bo prevzela gospodinjsko in skrbstveno delo ter da bo odgovorna, vestna in resna. Merila, ki so veljala zanjo, so bila za njenega brata drugačna, bolj ohlapna. Morda si zato kasneje ne želi otrok, morda je skrbela že dovolj. Verina želja je bila, da bi živela sama, da bi učila in pisala, zato se sprva ne želi vezati s Tinetom, ki jo sicer očara, a čuti, da je med njima preveč razlik. Njeno življenje se zasuče v drugo smer, ko zanosi. Otrok jo je prisilil k vrnitvi k Tinetu, razmišlja Vera, in ta otrok jo od njega začne oddaljevati. Tine je presrečen, ona pa je obupana v krču poporodne depresije. Občutek osamljenosti se dodatno poglablja zaradi stigme. Komu bi sploh lahko povedala, da otrok v njeno življenje ni prinesel veselja, ampak še več skrbi in bolečine? Uteho začne iskati v alkoholu. Medtem že zaslišimo drugi pripovedni glas: Nina ponudi otroški pogled na Vero, Tineta in njun odnos. Začutimo lahko njeno željo po materini toplini, a Vera tega ne zmore. Po ločitvi se odnos med materjo in hčerjo le še ohladi, Vera je do Nine stroga, nepopustljiva in nadzorovalna. Nina možnost drugačnega življenja vidi z Bojanom in ko z njim nepričakovano zanosi, se veseli nove družine, ki jo bosta skupaj ustvarila. A mladostna idealizacija kaj kmalu zbledi, saj je Bojan nasilen in oblastniški, k čemur njegove težave z alkoholom ne pripomorejo. Tako Vero kot Nino spremljamo od dekliških let naprej, roman pa spretno preskakuje v času, saj prizore filmsko niza v kratkih poglavjih. Dogajanje je razpeto v širok časovni lok, a ni preobloženo. Avtorica Maja B. Kranjc je precizno odbrala ključne momente za razvoj glavnih junakinj, ker pa je roman tako zelo osredotočen na notranjost Vere in Nine, se bralci težko orientiramo, kje in kdaj se pravzaprav nahajamo. Ko se Vera loči od Tineta, izvemo, da se je osamosvojila na isti dan kot država – šele na tem mestu je prvič jasno, kdaj se zgodba dogaja in to je ena redkih orientacijskih točk v romanu. Roman se tako zelo osredotoča na notranjost, na tisto, kar se dogaja v posameznici, in na tisto, kar se dogaja v družinski celici, da popolnoma odmisli širšo, družbeno dimenzijo. Posebej za Ninino zgodbo se občasno zdi, da bi se lahko dogajala tudi petdeset let prej, le v njenih pogovorih s samozavestno, odločno in svobodomiselno prijateljico Sandro, ki jo spodbuja, naj Bojana zapusti, dobimo občutek, da se zgodba dogaja v sedanjosti oziroma bližnji preteklosti. Lažje bi razumeli tudi Verin občutek osamljenosti, krivde in sramu ob poporodni depresiji, ki je sicer še danes tabu, a vseeno nekaj, o čemer smo bolj ozaveščeni kot v poznih sedemdesetih oziroma zgodnjih osemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja, ko Vera najverjetneje sploh ni vedela, kaj se z njo dogaja. Poleg psihološkega raziskovanja likov se roman osredinja tudi na vzorce, ki jih podedujemo od prednikov. Čeprav Verina mama v romanu nikoli ne spregovori, se izkaže, da je tudi ona čutila klopotec v trebuhu. Zgodba kaže nekakšno napredovanje, od Verine mame, ki s klopotcem ni zmogla živeti, prek Vere, ki se je z njim borila po svoje, z alkoholom in pisanjem poezije, do Nine, za katero lahko ob koncu optimistično upamo, da ji bo uspelo razbiti okove podedovane travme. Prav tako se zasveti možnost, da bosta Vera in Nina premostili razdaljo, ki se je z leti ustvarila med njima, ter vzpostavili bolj pristen in topel odnos. Roman tako deluje očiščevalno, saj sporoča, da je mogoče zaživeti drugače in da za to nikoli ni prepozno. Veliko vlogo pri tem ima za obe junakinji prav pisanje – to je poleg klopotca, ki se vrtinči v njunem drobovju, še ena stvar, ki jo imata skupno. S pisanjem ta klopotec pravzaprav premagujeta. Vera poezijo piše ponoči, ko ima čas in mir, Nina v najstniških letih poskuša tudi sama, a jo od pisanja odvrne prav Vera, ki njene pesmi brez dovoljenja pokaže stricu. Nina to občuti kot izdajo in pisanje za dolga leta opusti, želja pa v njej ponovno vzbrsti, ko se po ločitvi in bolezni sooča s svojo preteklostjo, s klopotcem. Roman je tako tudi svojevrstna hvalnica terapevtski in katarzični moči besed, izlitih na papir. Moški liki v romanu nastopajo samo obrobno, a vendarle je vredno omeniti, da jih je Maja B. Kranjc prikazala plastično, in ne zgolj stereotipno v vlogi antagonistov. Tine, Verin mož in Ninin oče, si želi, da bi družina ostala skupaj, a ga Verin hlad potiska vse dlje od doma. Ne on ne Vera nista dovolj čustveno opremljena, da bi odnos lahko rešila. Nina ima pravzaprav več lepih in toplih spominov nanj kot na Vero, pa vendar Tine v njenem življenju nima večje vloge in v celoti zbledi v Verini senci. Ninin partner Bojan je Tinetovo nasprotje, bolj je podoben Veri, saj je oblasten in obsojajoč, s taščo pa si delita tudi odvisnost od alkohola, na nek način postaneta zaveznika, zaradi česar postane Nina še bolj priklenjena nanj. Bojan je do Nine in do njunega sina Petra tako verbalno kot fizično nasilen, a se v ozadju nakazujejo tudi njegovi notranji boji, posebej z odvisnostjo, ki se je zmore rešiti. Roman je do njega prizanesljiv in dopušča, da se lahko spremeni, vendar pa z jasnim sporočilom, da gre za odnos, od katerega se mora Nina oddaljiti. Kdo smo brez tistih, na katere nas vežejo nevidne niti, se sprašuje roman Klopotec. Oblikujejo nas družina, odnosi, ki jih pletemo z ljudmi okoli sebe. Roman se osredotoča predvsem na družinske in partnerske vezi, na družino kot osnovno celico. Odsotnost širše družbene dimenzije sicer povzroča dezorientiranost v času in prostoru, po drugi strani pa ustvari toliko bolj precizno izrisane psihološke portrete glavnih junakinj. Dogajanje teče gladko in čeprav zajema dolgo obdobje, je avtorica dobro izbrala in izpostavila ključne momente v življenju protagonistk. Roman Klopotec je suveren prehod Maje B. Krajnc od poezije k prozi, pri čemer je avtorica ohranila poetičnost jezika in slogovno izpiljenost. Kljub nekaterim pomanjkljivostim lahko rečemo, da je to tenkočuten roman, ki bo gotovo nagovoril marsikaterega bralca, in predvsem bralke, in da se že veselimo njenega drugega romana.
