Welcome back to another episode of Fratello On Air! As promised, we've returned after a week with more banter and plenty of watch talk. This time around, we discuss the oft-mentioned summer watch and how we feel about it in 2026. Of course, we cover plenty of other subjects. Enjoy the show!Ah, the summer watch. If given little thought, it's easy to call it a diver and walk away, but we find that definition limiting. We eventually come to the topic but hit upon more than a handful of other watches. Settle in for a lengthy chat while you're prepping the pool or the back terrace for the season to come.HandgelenkskontrolleWe begin our show discussing recent performances that we've attended. Mike returned from Beetlejuice The Musical, a fun romp that just opened in London. Balazs, on the other hand, saw Slowhand, aka Eric Clapton, in concert. Then, there's the long-awaited opening of Terminal 3 at your hosts' favorite airport, Frankfurt.Mike shares a tip about pre-ordering duty-free there and the availability of a desirable bourbon. For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Balazs is wearing one of his favorites, the Ming 17.09 on a Ming rubber strap. Mike is back into vintage with his Heuer Carrera 2447 S, a watch that recently accompanied him to Soccer Aid 2026.The intermezzo — new releasesBefore attacking our main topic, the summer watch, we discuss a bevy of new pieces that could qualify as timepieces of the season. First, there's the Tudor Black Bay Chrono 39 "Bumble Bee," which heralds a new case size from the popular brand. Both of us like it and are excited to see which colors may come next. The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Fifty is a beautiful, albeit luxurious, release that nails its brief as a true contender to other pieces in its competitive set. For Mike, this watch enters the horse race against his longtime crush, the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF 36. Balazs mentions the surprising new Timex Atelier collection. It consists of four modern watches, some of which have Sellita automatic movements. More to come! Finally, Mike segues to our main topic with the Norqain Wild One Skeleton X-Lite, a watch that feels like nothing is on the wrist, an important criterion in the heat. The summer watchBalazs leads off our discussion of the summer watch and makes it clear that it's not only about dive watches. We mention some key attributes that help define a piece that works in the heat, by the pool, or just in general. Brightly colored dials work well during this sunny period, but so do audacious designs, including skeletonized pieces. However, we're both quick to agree that a skeletonized piece needs to be executed well, or it looks cheap. No one wants that by the Riviera! If a brightly colored dial isn't your cup of tea, why not try a vividly hued strap instead? Loads of options can help a watch dress down during the warmer season. Of course, lightweight materials are very on-trend and feel great when the mercury rises. Titanium is incredibly common now, and carbon has become a go-to medium for many companies in different price ranges. Most of all, though, we think it's best to choose something enjoyable for the summer that's worry-free and satisfying. We hope you enjoy today's episode and look forward to your comments. Let us know what you'll be sporting this summer, whether at the office or by the sea.

Coming Soon: The Tom Jorgensen Broadway Drumming 101 Podcast EpisodeThere's a line that's stuck with Tom Jorgensen ever since he first heard it from jazz legend Michael Carvin:“It's not about what you're playing — it's about what you're doing.”It sounds simple. But as Tom explains in the upcoming episode of the Broadway Drumming 101 Podcast, that one sentence completely changed how he approaches music, performance, and storytelling on stage. For those who don't know Tom: he's the drummer on the North American tour of Beetlejuice The Musical, which returned to Broadway in a limited 13-week engagement at the Palace Theatre beginning October 8, 2025 and running through January 3, 2026. In this episode, Tom opens up about how Carvin's philosophy guided him through every stage of his career. From late nights on cruise ships to the bright lights of Broadway. He shares how mentors like Rich Mercurio and Nadia DiGiallonardo helped him realize that playing music isn't just about perfect notes or flawless grooves, it's about listening, intention, and being part of the story. This episode goes beyond chops and technique. It's about presence, purpose, and what it truly means to serve the music. If you've ever found yourself going through the motions—counting bars, chasing perfection, or just trying to “get through” a gig—this conversation will hit home. It's a reminder that every note, no matter how small, can help tell the story.Clayton Craddock is the drummer for the upcoming Broadway revival of Cats: The Jellicle Ball, opening at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 7th. He is also the founder of Broadway Drumming 101 and the author of the forthcoming book Broadway Bound and Beyond: A Musician's Guide to Building a Theater Career. His Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include tick, tick…BOOM!, Memphis, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Ain't Too Proud, and The Hippest Trip: The Soul Train Musical, along with extensive subbing on shows such as Rent, Motown, Evita, Avenue Q, and the Hadestown tour.Clayton is currently on tour with The Rock Orchestra and has appeared on The View, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, and the TONY Awards, and has performed with artists ranging from Chuck Berry and Ben E. King to Kristin Chenoweth and Norm Lewis.www.claytoncraddock.com Get full access to Broadway Drumming 101 at broadwaydrumming101.substack.com/subscribe
Scott Brown and Anthony King are the Tony-nominated writers behind Beetlejuice the Musical. Together they adapted Tim Burton's cult classic into a Broadway hit that blends grief, special effects, and lots of laughs. I am an unabashedly huge fan of Beetlejuice the Musical, which first opened on Broadway in April 2019, closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic, returned for a second run in April 2022, and wrapped again in January 2023. Now the show is set for its third Broadway engagement at the Palace Theatre, running October 8, 2025 through January 3, 2026, and I cannot wait because I have really missed this show.In this conversation, Scott and Anthony share how they built the show's unique tone, why fourth-wall breaking was the key to unlocking Beetlejuice onstage, and how endless iteration in workshops and previews sharpened the comedy and emotional beats. They also discuss the responsibility of protecting and adapting iconic properties. Here are Scott Brown and Anthony King.Show NotesStage & Film Projects MentionedBeetlejuice the MusicalBeetlejuice Jr.Gutenberg the MusicalBeetlejuiceLost Boys (musical in development)Death Becomes Her (musical adaptation referenced)Hamilton (filmed stage production mentioned as preservation model)Stranger Things stage productionMovies & Shows ReferencedDeadpool (comparison for Beetlejuice's tone)Rick and MortySouth ParkPeople MentionedTim Burton (original film director)Michael McDowell (original Beetlejuice screenwriter)Eddie Perfect (songwriter, performing Beetlejuice in Australia)Alex Brightman (actor, Beetlejuice on Broadway)Follow Scott Brown at:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/9scott9Website: https://www.scottbrownwritesthings.com/IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4447552/Follow Anthony King at:IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1511524/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theanthonyking/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theanthonyking/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anthony-king-4738a594/
Greetings, Twenty-Siders! It’s close enough to Halloween that we can quote Beetlejuice: The Musical. We continue our fight against a ghast. That’s more fun to say than to type. (It’s actually a banshee, but that’s not as much fun.) Enjoy the Adventure…
Eddie Perfect has been entertaining us for years. A star of stage and screen, he's a writer of Broadway musicals, played Mick Holland on Offspring, and once composed a musical about Shane Warne. Eddie's currently starring in the titular role for another musical he wrote – Beetlejuice - and he nails it. But for someone with such a varied life in song, I was curious about the inspirations he drew from. Strap in for his source material, and some truly beautiful nerding out on music. The Beach Boys - 'I Get Around'Lauryn Hill - 'Ex-Factor'Rage Against The Machine - 'Killing In The Name'Ella Fitzgerald - 'Fascinating Rhythm'Joni Mitchell - 'Both Sides, Now'

It's been a hot minute since I've podcasted, and I have truly missed it like crazy. It has been one heck of a year, and I have truly been SUPER BUSY. However, when it comes to releasing episodes, I really want to continue to share my passions with the world, so I have decided to start a new series through this podcast called "Episodes from the Vault." Every episode is going to feature an interview I have done over the past year, and despite the extremely overdue release, I still want to share it with whoever will listen. Without further ado, this is Episodes From the Vault. Larkin Reilly made her broadway debut in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Bad Cinderella. Despite the short run on Broadway, she got to perform in an original company of a musical. Since this interview, Reilly has been on the road touring with Beetlejuice: The Musical in the ensemble and covering Lydia Deetz. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jayme-starr/support
Lauren Boebert's much-anticipated primary is tomorrow, and we could know by the end of the day if her career in Congress is finally over. But before we get to that point, her rivals on both sides of the political aisle are trying to get a few more shots in. One of her Democratic rivals posted a video of himself sitting in the same exact seat at the theater where she was removed during a performance of Beetlejuice The Musical in an attempt to both humiliate her and get donations. Also, Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. did not meet the criteria for participating in this week's presidential debate, and his campaign is not taking the news very well. The campaign released a statement that essentially accuses CNN of breaking the law by excluding him, and they went as far as to suggest that a conviction could result in jail time. That's not going to happen because they don't even realize that their whole claim is invalid. And Steve Bannon is desperate to stay out of prison, but he keeps striking out with the Appeals Court. A three-judge panel ruled on Thursday that Bannon cannot stay out of jail as he continues with the appeals process, meaning he has no choice but to report for his sentence on July 1st. But it was the opinion of the dissenting judge that should be getting attention, as the Trump-appointed jurist tried to protect Bannon by throwing the entire legal system in the trash. Finally, Donald Trump's campaign has spent years telling us that President Biden is so cognitively impaired that he can barely function, and now they are starting to regret those comments. With the first debate just days away, Trump's campaign is now freaking out that they may have set the bar too low for Biden and that any performance from Biden that doesn't portray him as demented will be a huge victory for the Democrats. This is the fourth episode of a special, limited-run podcast series, Lauren Boebert Can't Lose, from City Cast Denver. Don't miss the first episode, “The Escort Rumors,” the second, “How The Boebert Brand Was Born,” or the third, “The Pueblo Problem.” It all started because Congresswoman Lauren Boebert got caught in a lie. She said that all she did was dance and sing too loud during Beetlejuice: The Musical. She joked about getting kicked out and missing the end of the show. But when people saw what she really did on the high-resolution surveillance footage that leaked to the press, it changed the course of her career forever. So on the fourth episode of this limited podcast series, we've got the story of how the Beetlejuice scandal played out, and what it meant to the people who supported her most. Bree Davies is our host. Paul Karolyi reported and produced this episode with tons of support from the rest of the team at City Cast, including but not exclusively Wil Fulton, Olivia Jewell Love, Andi McDaniel, Xandra McMahon, David Plotz, Andrea Silenzi, and Noah Sniderman. Beetlejuice: The Musical is coming to town and the musical theater prodigy Isabella Elser joins Jeff to talk about the show coming to town!
This week I'm pleased to be joined by Abe Goldfarb, who is currently playing Otho for the touring company of Beetlejuice: The Musical and both starred in and co-directed First Time Caller (which I reviewed here). You may remember a few months back that Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert got kicked out of a showing of Beetlejuice: The Musical; well, Abe happened to be onstage when all that went down. After having a few laughs about that, we get into the world of indie filmmaking and his recently released project, First Time Caller. Turns out that one of the best ways to make money on a project like this is to make it and release it on an ad-supported streaming channel, yet more evidence that we've torn down the whole system just to reinvent cable. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to check out First Time Caller and Beetlejuice: The Musical, on tour now. And make sure to share this with a friend!
On Friday's show: As the Houston-built Odysseus lunar lander goes dark, we reflect on what went right during the mission, what went wrong, and what it means for future space missions with Eric Berger of Ars Technica. Also this hour: From a big day for renewable energy in Texas, to Houston now being home to the oldest person in America, we break down The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of the week. Then, with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo underway, we learn about the history of Black rodeos and Black cowboys in Texas. And we talk about the phenomenon of translating popular movies into musicals as Beetlejuice the Musical comes to The Hobby Center March 5-10.

How well all the covered topics relate to one another is debatable in this lustiest of episodes from It Happened One Year! Ostensibly here to discuss the shameful handling Miss America Vanessa Williams received in 1984 over the publishing of old nude photos, Sarah & Joe pivot into the many and varied scandals enveloping politicians and celebrities thanks to their uncontained urges - with cameos along the way from everyone from Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and Bill Clinton to Rob Lowe, Hugh Grant, and the many notable men who impregnated their nannies - before landing at the real reason for this episode, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's recent attendance at a production of Beetlejuice: The Musical. This one is decidedly not family friendly, despite all the Harry Belafonte musical fun!
Ashley and Karen talk about all the fun they had at Beetlejuice (The Musical! The Musical! The Musical!), playing at the Des Moines Civic Center October 3 - 8, 2023.

Lauren Boebert was recently kicked out of a theater performance of Beetlejuice: The Musical for being generally disruptive (vaping, recording, and being obnoxious to those around her.) Boebert says she laughed "hysterically" as she was being thrown out, but her advisers definitely aren't laughing. They see her poor poll numbers and lagging fundraising, and they know that scenes like this aren't helping anything. Also, if you needed any more proof that the forthcoming impeachment inquiry into President Biden was nothing more than revenge theater, here it is: Donald Trump recently hosted Marjorie Taylor Greene for a dinner where the duo plotted how to make the impeachment as "painful" as possible for Biden. Trump has also been talking impeachment with other House Republicans, and it is now clear that he's the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes. And finally, the Republicans are basing their entire impeachment inquiry into President Biden on stories that they were told by questionable people during the sham House investigations that they've been conducting all year. And now an FBI agent is refuting the testimony of one of Jim Jordan's star witnesses (an alleged "whistleblower" who said that the US attorney prosecuting Hunter Biden admitted he was being pressured by the DOJ.) According to the agent that was at the meeting, none of the claims made by the "whistleblower" are true.

Bella Esler is a new comer in the world of professional theatre. She graduated high school in 2022, and now she is starring in the national tour of Beetlejuice: The Musical as Lydia Deetz. Growing up, Esler always loved going to the theatre and catching her favorite national tours such as Wicked and The Book of Mormon . Little did she know that shortly after she flipped her high school tassel from left to right that it was going to be her turn to take a show on the road and originate a role for a brand new tour. Esler didn't travel a whole lot as a kid, so a she is seeing a majority of the country for the very first time. WTOP Entertainment Reporter Jason Fraley chats with Sophia Anne Caruso, who is currently starring in the Netflix original movie "The School for Good and Evil." They spoke in 2018 alongside Tony-nominated co-star Alex Brightman when they brought the pre-Broadway world premiere of "Beetlejuice: The Musical" to National Theatre in Washington D.C. (Theme Music: Scott Buckley's "Clarion")
In a HUGE episode Wyatt gets to chatting with Kris Kukul. Kris has orchestrated, he has conducted, he has composed, he has Music Directed...he's done it on Broadway, in like ALL the countries (seriously though but Wyatt was SHOOK when Kris revealed how many countries he's worked in), he's done it regionally and he's done it in the land of the dead! Kris is currently wrapping up the Broadway run of the Tony nominated Beetlejuice The Musical . But of special interest to our Salesianum family, Kris did the Pasadena Playhouse production of Head Over Heels (aka Our Winter Musical this year!) AND he did an incredibly well regarded production of The Heart of Robin Hood (aka our Spring Play this year!). He's friends with Mr. Bogad from back in the old days, but we won't hold that against him! Follow Kris on the socials @kriskukul or check out his website www.kriskukul.comandgo see Beetlejuice before it closes on Broadway OR when it comes through this area on tour!!!
Beetlejuice will forever hold a very special place in my heart. Every Saturday morning, Beetlejuice was my go-to cartoon, and my VHS of the movie practically melted from being watched so much. I had the action figures, the soundtrack, and the Halloween costume (as a child and as an adult). It wasn't only my quintessential gateway horror movie, but it also shaped a lifelong unapologetic appreciation for all things weird and macabre. The movie had a “lightning in a bottle” combination of a devilishly rebellious spirit and a singularity of vision that introduced the world to the wonders of Tim Burton. It was and forever will be an iconic and magical movie and a very important part of me. The movie is just as sacred to countless others for all of the same reasons, which is likely why the Beetlejuice sequels and remakes have remained in production hell for decades. How can you possibly reimagine a classic that means so much to so many people? The answer: turn it into a musical. Despite being a little apprehensive at first, what struck me within the first ten minutes of Beetlejuice: the Musical was that it was developed with a tremendous amount of love and respect for the original movie. The show encompasses all of the many facets of what made the movie so great while expanding on the story in very inventive ways. It even has several nods to the cartoon, which just made me happy. This is a killer show, and I urge you to go see it if you're in the New York area. The costumes, the music, the humor, and the insanely elaborate Burtonesque sets and visuals are an overwhelming and blissful experience for fans of the original, plus the anarchistic spirit of lewdness and rudeness from the movie is retained in full force. The show will be on tour beginning in December so if you can't make it to New York, check and see if it's coming your way at: beetlejuicebroadway.com/tour. The show is ignited by the performance of Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice. Alex Brightman is an actor, singer, and two-time Tony Award Nominated Actor. He was nominated for his roles on Broadway as Dewey Finn in the musical adaptation of School of Rock and as the title character in Beetlejuice the Musical. After shuttering due to COVID, Beetlejuice is back on Broadway. We sat down with Alex to catch up on what the experience was like as well as how he created his take on the iconic & beloved character of Beetlejuice. Please enjoy this interview with Alex Brightman. ----- Produced by Simpler Media
