Not only is Dolly's story amazing, Radiolab producer Jad Abumrad has taken over 2 years of his life to work on this 9-part series and create what I think could be the best produced podcast of all time.

Full Interview with Jay from Best of the LeftCongratulations on 10 years of podcasting!Hey Villains! Rate and Review the show!https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/majority-villain/id877298705?mt=2Jay! Tomlinson is my guest and he is the host of the award-winning podcast Best of the Left. He became seriously interested in politics in 2003 during the Iraq war invasion. With zero experience editing audio or managing a website Tomlinson launched Best of the Left in January 2006 at the age of 23. In 2009 the show won it's first Podcast Award in the Best Produced category and then again in 2012. With help from activist/journalist, Katie Klabusich the show has been refined and expanded over the years to now include voicemails from listeners and activism segments produced in-house that give listeners an outlet to make a difference in the stories they hear on the show. It is an extremely hands-on approach to podcasting. Now, with 10 years of podcasting, Jay is a pioneer in podcasting, and with almost 1000 episodes, Best of the Left is one of the best shows there is for receiving the rundown on all that progressive radio and television has to offer. Profitcast: Monetize Your Podcast | Grow a Large and Loyal Audience
First of all, I had a TREMENDOUS opportunity to be a part of the Podcast Awards review team this last week! It was a treat and it was very encouraging to be a part of! I share a few things I saw in the review process that I thought was hilarious, but more importantly, very confirming, encouraging, and helpful for our podcasts! Our podcast, Arrow Squad, is a finalist in the Best Produced category!! I am beyond excited and thankful! Congratulations if your podcast was nominated and selected as a finalist!!! The big thing I did this week was some extensive research on sponsorships for podcasts. I contacted companies that advertise with podcasts. I also researched other companies, podcasts, networks, etc. to see what sponsorships worked for them and how they worked. I wanted to aggregate the data to determine how best to utilize sponsorships for our podcasts. I went into this bright-eyed and bushy-tailed with high hopes that I would find some encouraging results for all of us. I had some very nice and informative conversations with great people. Unfortunately, the answers were somewhat discouraging and challenging. But don't worry! I share my findings, what I believe about podcasting and advertising vs. radio, TV, and other forms of media. I also share some options for us with our podcasts and some possible solutions if you're interested in sponsorships. Question of the week this week! What do you think about sponsorships? Read More... On this week's episode of The One Piece Podcast, we bring the whole gang together. Seriously, there's a lot of people on this episode, though thankfully not at the same time. We have host Zach Logan taking us through the whole thing with appearances by co-hosts Ed and Steve. We have Stephen Paul (translator for One Piece in Weekly Shonen Jump) stepping in as our co-host for this episode and Jammer (Editor-in-Chief of OnePiecePodcast.com and Writer) as a co-host for our News segment. We also have very special guests Greg Werner (Japan Correspondent, writer for Shueisha's V-Jump Magazine and Greg-sensei's SUPER One Piece Course for One-Piece.com -- available in English), Jose Argumedo (video editor/videographer for The One Piece Podcast, production assistant at CNN), Joey Weiser (comic writer/artist, creator of Mermin), Sai-Chan (artist and frequent podcast contributor), and Caroline (editorial writer for Caroline's Column at The One Piece Podcast). That's a lot of people. Please take the time to nominate us in The Podcast Awards in the "Entertainment" and "Best Produced" categories. We want to thank you for all your love and support over the last five and a half years, and we hope a nomination -- perhaps even a win -- can represent us, the One Piece community and the anime community! This week we have some News with Zach, Jammer, and Greg, a Manga Recap of Chapter 774 as we head into a Tontatta adventure -- complete with voices -- with Stephen, Joey, Caroline, and Sai. We also have an in-depth review of the Nintendo 3DS game One Piece: Super Grand Battle X with Stephen. Then we have a discussion about the state of Toonami with Jose Argumedo along with a Toonami Recap for Episode 285. After that we have an Anime Recap for Episode 679 -- as we find out the true identity of Mr. Cravat, and an all-star Piece Together segment with most of the crew. We also have a lot more little surprises sprinkled throughout, stitched together in a podcast of chaotic hilarity. 0:00:00 Introduction 0:04:05 News with Zach, Jammer, and Greg 0:20:56 Manga Recap: Chapter 774 1:15:26 Review: Super Grand Battle X 1:35:26 Toonami Recap: Episode 285 2:00:22 Anime Recap: Episode 679 2:14:35 The All Star Piece Together 3:08:58 A Moment with General Septum 3:11:33 To Be Continued Next week we have a recap of Manga Chapter 775, Anime Episode 680, Toonami Episode 286, and a hell of a lot more. #404 For Members Only: Jeff Ritter may be one of the most insightful and approachable teachers ever on Golf Smarter. That's why we continue to ask him back on a regular basis. In this episode, host Fred Greene and Jeff cover nuanced information like something as simple, but easy to forget, as feet position at address. Mostly we discuss an email from a listener who's common frustrations are due to the lack of improvement in his game, or lowering of his scores. He notes how he experiences short bursts of progress and just falls back into the same old groove "No Matter What". Next up for Members Only, Fred records his custom fitting with Nick Manzano (episodes #394 + #395) and amazingly discovers the results of just how different each club manufacturer can be. TWD S4 is coming up and in preparation, we go back and review the first eight episodes of season three. I was surprised at how much more I got out of the season by binge watching. In particular I think I understand much more clearly what was going on in the Governor's twisted brain. Listen in as I lay it out for you and go over all the bits of foreshadowing and other elements that take on a new significance when viewed as a whole. And have you checked out the guest and events lists for the upcoming Walker Stalker Convention we've been going on about? Here are a few highlights:* Norman Reedus* Lauren Cohan* Greg Nicotero* Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from Breaking Bad)* Sarah Wayne Callies* Laurie Holden* A concert from Emily Kinney* A podcast panel with us, The Walker Stalkers, The Talking Dead, and Watching Dead (and we're working on setting up a meetup with you guys too)* Tons more. Seriously, those are some of the highlights, but there's a lot more going on too. You can find out more and get tickets at walkerstalkercon.com. Karen and I will be hosting many of the Q&A sessions and we would love to see a whole bunch of you out there. And finally, the 9th Annual Podcast Awards is fast approaching. If you want us to win, you can nominate us in the Entertainment and Best Produced categories at podcastawards.com on Oct 1. We appreciate it!
