EP62 - Tony Burgess - A Stag, a Bet, and a Gangster's Debt Joining us on the AllMadeUp sofa is comedian and writer - Tony BurgessBilly Grogan has spent 15 years addicted to heroin on Manchester's streets. At 29, he bets £500 he can stay clean for a year. His friend and fellow addict, Cravat, supports him while facing his own struggles. Cravat's resolve is tested at his friend Philip's stag do, filled with posh friends unaware of his addiction. To maintain appearances, Cravat brings Billy, hoping his friend's determination will help. Complicating matters is David Boom, a local gangster seeking the £500 Billy stole for the bet. Navigating cocaine-fueled pigeon rescues, extravagant homes, and David Boom's looming threat, the friends embark on a chaotic, hilarious journey of redemption. This is a darkly comedic tale of friendship, resilience, and the lengths people go to escape their pasts and build better futures. Welcome to this 106th episode of The Shift featuring documentary film maker Marcy Cravat. Her new film, Terrain, features the controversial Dr. Andrew Kaufman who, for the past two years, has become well known for his advocacy of the terrain theory of disease and opposition to the long established belief that viruses and other germs are responsible for contagion. The film presents Kaufman's argument in a concise two part cinematic journey that will make the most ardent germ theorist question this most foundational assumption upon which much of the allopathic system of medicine resides. Marcelina Cravat of Passelande Pictures shares her passion for revealing truth through her award-winning documentary films. With two completed award winning films, Angel Azul and Dirt Rich, already under her belt, Marcy is currently in production on her third film, Terrain which chronicles the subject of terrain theory vs germ theory. Marcy received her training at The Art Center College of Design after graduating from The University of California in San Diego, and later in life she attended The Berkeley Digital Film Institute for film training. Making a transition from photography to film came later in life when her love for storytelling motivated her to return to school to pursue a career as a writer/director. Upon graduating she co-founded a small production company specializing in portrait style documentaries on artists and then went on to found Passelande Pictures that serves as an umbrella for all of her projects going forward. Marcelina grew up around Hollywood sets as daughter of character actor Nick Cravat, Burt Lancaster's life long chum, circus partner and co-star. For years she was an editorial photographer, transitioning into film later in life after her kids were grown. Marcy is passionate about the subject matter of her films which motivates deep exploration, growth and an ever expanding understanding about human consciousness. Matt Davies Adams is back with Adrian Clarke, Sam Parkin, and Kelly Somers to discuss the Championship promotion contenders, the goal thumpings in League One, and the headbutts of League Two. This week: who's the side that's good on paper and better on grass? Is it worth being promoted? And can anyone call the League One relegation battle? All that plus why did Clarkey get headbutted by a team mate, which game is a nine-pointer let alone a six pointer, and who's got the better fashion sense: Matt or Phil Brown? In this episode, I talk about how I treated myself to a class on knitting vintage sweaters and all that it brought up, including all kinds of inspiration (reminding me of my love for Elsa Schiaparelli's Cravat sweater) and a reminder that it's okay to treat myself. In this episode of The Shift, host Doug McKenty discusses sustainable living practices with the director and producer of the documentary Dirt Rich, Marcy Cravat. The two go in depth about the issues we all face living in an unsustainable world and the many solutions for those who wish to pursue a life that harmonizes with nature. They also discuss what it's like to wake up to the manipulations of a mainstream, corporate sponsored media system that compels us all to consume the lies we are told and the unsustainable lifestyle it perpetuates. For more information check out all of Marcy's work at http://www.passelandepictures.com/dirtrich.html.

From the peaks of All Quiet on the Western Front to the possible valley of Wesley Ruggles Best Picture winner, Cimarron. As the Academy Awards first major epic film to win the big prize, this outwardly racist and categorically theatrical film covers the decades after the historic Oklahoma land rush in the late 1800's, following the Cravat family. In this episode, hosts Andrew and Dave have their first disagreement about the value of this Best Picture winner. Andrew stumbles in his defence of a film that is possibly indefensible, while Dave stands steadfast in the evisceration of this Western film. Well the hiatus is over and some things are just worth the wait. DK, Big B and Choo Choo Stu arrive in the studio full of fire this week. We make our final predictions for the US presidential race and Big B has his first rant in a month. Then it appears that Choo Choo Stu has a rare digestive disorder and it makes for more fun in the studio. We then discuss Halloween and DK has an issue with some of the treats that are handed out. Then Choo Choo Stu tells us what its like at Sir Big B's house, all decked out in a robe and a Cravat. To restore order DK attempts to introduce 2 news stories about freaky pregnancies. Just then the boys decide they are going to make up the story from the headline. Choo's daughter gets pierced and DK's son is in a soccer tug of war, of course we play some wing sings for Big B and DK gives an update on the message potatoes. There is so much we couldn't squeeze it all in. Cave Crew Radio is live every Thursday at 9pm eastern on www.cavecrewradio.com and on youtube Cave Crew TV. We are also on Saturdays at 8pm eastern on the podcast radio network. See ya next week!

I've been at around 3 sessions in as many months and this tune was played at 2 of them (albeit by the same person). According to my statistical analysis this tune is therefore played at 66.66666% of all sessions. I'm afraid that the flute here sounds a bit like it has a cravat stuck up it somewhere; possibly with a maritime person attached.
