“Reading Month” turns to Satire this week, defined as the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity. And the Bible is full of it. This week we will discuss the fun God's prophets had at the expense of idolators; a different take (to say the least) on the Pride and Prejudice story; the madcap adventures of my favorite musical satirist; and how you turn dystopian lemons into your faction's favorite flavor of lemonade.Hal Hammons serves as preacher and shepherd for the Lakewoods Drive church of Christ in Georgetown, Texas. He is the host of the Citizen of Heaven podcast. You are encouraged to seek him and the Lakewoods Drive church through Facebook and other social media. Lakewoods Drive is an autonomous group of Christians dedicated to praising God, teaching the gospel to all who will hear, training Christians in righteousness, and serving our God and one another faithfully. We believe the Bible is God's word, that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that heaven is our home, and that we have work to do here while we wait. Regular topics of discussion and conversation include: Christians, Jesus, obedience, faith, grace, baptism, New Testament, Old Testament, authority, gospel, fellowship, justice, mercy, faithfulness, forgiveness, Twenty Pages a Week, Bible reading, heaven, hell, virtues, character, denominations, submission, service, character, COVID-19, assembly, Lord's Supper, online, social media, YouTube, Facebook.

Continue reading La Ruleta Rusa 09.2023. Pavement. Monster Magnet. I recently had the chance to speak with Dave, the lead vocalist of Monster Magnet. The 90s teenager inside me was blushing and by a miracle I held it together long enough to chat about the new album. Monster Magnet recently released a full length album titled, A Better Dystopia. The album is best described as Acid Rock and features covers of legendary songs from the 60s-70s. Take a moment to listen to what Dave had to say about his journey in music and learn what is coming next from Monster Magnet.

In today's episode Adam asks Rob and Kyle if they prefer bad news or good news first; we review Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia, and then we discuss the dystopian future, sort of. Book: When Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia We mention "AP." In board gaming terms, and perhaps in other areas of our lives, it means "analysis paralysis." It's when one has too many decisions to process, and so things slow way down as the person attempts to parse out the absolute best decision to make. We all suffer from it at times, but poor Adam gets it a lot, because he's an Enneagram 7. (We'll talk about the Enneagram at some point.) Scythe Watch It Played Our Euphoria ratings: Adam - 22 - He hasn't played it yet, and there is no way he would give it a 22. He'll change his mind. Rob - 222 Kyle - 222 Brave New World 1984 Animal Farm The Handmaid's Tale Fahrenheit 451 Catch 22 The Hunger Games Divergent V for Vendetta The Circle (Lord only knows what the algorithms must think of us for looking up all the links to these dystopian novels.) Dave Wyndorf is the lead vocalist and guitarist for American rock band Monster Magnet, a band that helped build the stoner rock genre, and scored big hits in the 90s with the songs 'Space Lord' and 'Negasonic Teenage Warhead'. Their latest album A Better Dystopia is a collection of covers from obscure tracks from the late 60s and early 70s that have made an impression on Dave. His love for this era of music becomes apparent immediately as we talk about Hawkwind and bands that deserve more recognition, art in the internet world, the age of infotainment, the live scene of the 70s, the challenge in covering songs from this era, and a lot more! Iegriežot Ludozauru, Kristaps runās par to kāda saistība Eirovīzijai un Camel Up sacīkstēm.

I’ve been preaching … about intoxication. Proverbs 23 describes two kinds of drunkenness, literal and figurative — and they both start before the first sip.I’ve been reading … Jonathan Edwards, by Iain H. Murphy. I’m no Calvinist, but I dare say Edwards could have taught some of my brethren some things about the sovereignty of God.I’ve been hearing … Religious dissidents in Chinese prisons are being executed and their organs harvested. In our one hundred and seventh episode, we talk about the games we’ve been playing recently and reflect on Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia from 100 episodes ago. Then we review the woodland themed war game Root. This episode is sponsored by Maple Games & Board Game Bliss
MHGG Review - Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia Euphoria is a worker placement game set in a Utopia. Except it isn't, it is ACTUALLY a distopia, but almost everyone else is too stupid to realize this. Using your workers(dice), you will be visiting the different factions of the surrounding area to get commodities, turning them into resources and artifacts, and eventually turning them into victory points by placing stars onto the board. So did this early game from Jamey Stegmaier leave us feeling Euphoric or like we were living in a Dystopia of boardgame mediocrity? It's an Orwellian nightmare this week as the Dog and Thimble crew explore the 2013 Stonemaier Games offering, Euphoria: Building a Better Dystopia. Plus, Tom reveals that he was definitely the voice of the Homestar Runner, Alana muses about how attractive a Studebaker would make you, and Chris finds strange entries in the world of erotic fan-fiction. Strap in, this one gets weird!

The gang is back in front of the mics and ready to give you a review of Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia and to look back at Suburbia. Then Tony rounds up the hot news and lays it out there for you while the rest of the guys give their two cents. Then we take a look at a hot phenomenon known as The Cthulhu Mythos. The show ends with another round of Meet The GM, Jamie edition.
Once again, it's been a while, so a huge portion of this show is dedicated to just talking about games that I've been able to play recently. But I also do a couple of other things, like call some more attention to my ongoing contest to win copies of Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia and Nanuk. And speaking of Nanuk, I then go on to do a detailed review of it and hopefully stoke your desire to enter the contest! Lastly, my voice gives up the ghost before I can get around to reviewing Trains, so we'll have to save that for next show...
