Osmium #66: de deur achter 2024 dichtgetrokken middels roestige jaarlijstjes

Roestig. Onderwerpen: Blood Incantation - The Stargate [Tablet I] (00:00) Introductie over fluitende radiatoren en pragmatische bouwvakkers (00:10) Vier vijf jaar Osmium en plak stickers! Interview by Kris Peters,After managing to steer clear of this side of the world since 2016, North Carolina stoner/sludge/doom outfit Weedeater have declared 2024 the year of the Weed as they prepare to traverse Australia with their good mates King Parrot for the When The Weed Meets The Speed Australian Tour kicking off on November 6.No strangers to touring overseas together - as recent as last US Summer and as far back as 2015 - this will be the two band's first tour of this country together in what promises to be an entertaining, energy charged and musically brutal run of shows. While polar opposites of the musical spectrum, Weedeater and King Parrot connect where it matters. Live, loud, and in front of an audience.Just to make sure the needle of chaos pushes into the red, Astrodeath and Choof will join the party as the bands play 11 shows in 12 days from one side of the country to the other.HEAVY spent some time with Weedeater for a chat ahead of the tour, starting with why the boys have neglected Australian fans for the last eight years."We're not attempting to neglect you," they assured. "I'm not sure if you're aware, but it's kind of far away from where we live (laughs). We love Australia. We've always had a good time there, but it's not easy to get there, and it costs a lot of money to do so. It's a big pain in the ass, but when we get there, we have a damn good time. I would love to ask you a question. Why have you not come to North Carolina and visited me?"One point Weedeater. Zero points HEAVY.In the full interview we discuss what to expect from Weedeater's shows, their friendship with King Parrot, some tales from the road, their brand of hot sauce and if any will be making its way Down Under, the term 'sludge-toned tar-heels' and what it means, new music, three songs to listen to in order to know the band better, future plans and more.KING PARROT + WEEDEATER + ASTRODEATH + CHOOF“WHEN THE WEED MEETS THE SPEED” AUSTRALIAN TOUR, NOVEMBER 2024Wednesday, November 6th - Mo's Desert Clubhouse, Gold Coast QLDThursday, November 7th - The Triffid, Brisbane QLDFriday, November 8th - King Street Warehouse, Newcastle, NSWSaturday, November 9th - Manning Bar, Sydney, NSWSunday, November 10th - The Basement, Canberra ACTTuesday, November 12th - Volta, Ballarat VICWednesday, November 13th – Barwon Club, Geelong VICThursday, November 14th – Singing Bird, Frankston VIC (All Ages)Friday, November 15th – Max Watts, Melbourne VICSaturday, November 16th – Lion Arts Factory, Adelaide, SASunday, November 17th – Magnet House, Perth, WATickets on sale now: www.kingparrot.oztix.com.auBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Interview by Kris PetersUK metal outfit Orange Goblin are a band who has had to work hard for everything they have. Bloody hard.Formed in 1995 and born into a musical landscape already dominated by bands such as Black Sabbath, Trouble, Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Pentagram, Cathedral, Danzig, Monster Magnet and Kyuss, Orange Goblin spent many of their formative years deflecting criticism of their sound, defiant in the knowledge that while a sum of their many influences, they were also a force unto themselves.Combining elements of hard rock, stoner rock, doom metal and more, comparisons to the legendary bands listed above were bound to be prominent, but over the course of nine previous albums Orange Goblin have left their indelible mark across the music world, in the process gaining the respect and level of acceptance they so rightfully deserve. That growth and progression promises to continue on Orange Goblin's upcoming album Science, Not Fiction, which will be unleashed on July 19. Blending the aforementioned genres with some outside of the box, Science, Not Fiction is an aggressive, adrenaline-fuelled sonic journey of a band with one eye on the past but the focus firmly on the future.HEAVY caught up with founding member and vocalist Ben Ward to find out more."This one's different," he measured. "Obviously, it's our first album for Peaceville Records and the whole campaign has been far more hands on than we've ever had before. In the past we might have just delivered the record to the label and said right, you get on with that, but with this record the label have been really proactive and enthusiastic in getting us to be involved in the marketing. It's been a really strong campaign. There's been three singles released so far and all had videos for them. We've got another video and single coming just prior to the release. We're doing some album launch shows here in London and Leeds in the UK and we've got a summer of festivals lined up to promote it. It's all go at the moment. We're definitely not sitting back and letting it happen. We're all very proactive."In the full interview, Ben discussed Orange Goblin's upcoming album release more, including the musical influences, proactive marketing campaign, and impact of a new band member. He provided insights into the album concept, highlighting the significance of science, spirituality, and religion. The discussion also touched on the balance between imitation and inspiration in creating an album, with Ben emphasizing the band's commitment to creating music that is interesting to them and their belief in the importance of honesty in their music.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Who takes which interpretation, however, is not what you might expect. This week's visit to the Hate Crew Gaybar sees two albums for the jukebox. “How close can we sound like Black Sabbath without ripping off Black Sabbath?” Initially we had planned to only do a 4-volume series on STONER & DOOM Metal, but we quickly realized that the likelihood of that was as unrealistically absurd as sparking up a spit moistened doob with a waterlogged lighter, because there is ALWAYS some kind of stony, doomy, glorious metal goodness oozing out of the wood paneled, shag carpeted, smoke filled, tri-county Stonerverse. Awww mannn, it's time to turn on the black lights and lava lamps, light the incense, trim up your “Drug Beard” to resemble a well-groomed wizard, and find out what Christopher Cross does NOT drink on his boat. It's time again to set the controls for the heart of the sun and celebrate our co-host: Robert Harrison's birthday! Space out with us as we absorb a collection of songs that evoke the essence and vibes of his favorite band: Pink Floyd. While not obscure at all (they have 2 albums that are diamonds!), we shine on with snippets of similar sounds and themes by somewhat more modern bands from the 90s until today. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is usually forced to test his endurance, but this week is all about songs firmly in his big bang zone. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, even with this collection of great dance songs sounding similar to one of the biggest selling rock acts of all time.Songs this week include:The McBroom Sisters – “What Do You Want From Me”from Black Floyd(2020)Porcupine Tree – “The Jokes On You” from Up The Down Stair (1993) King Buffalo – “Mammoth” from Regenerator (2022)RPWL – “Masters Of War” from The RPWL Experience (2008)Thee Oh Sees – “Carrion Crawler” from Carrion Crawler / The Dream (2011)North Atlantic Oscillation – “Ceiling Poem” from Grappling Hooks (2010)Anathema – “Your Possible Pasts / Goodbye Cruel World” from Alternative 4 (1998)Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

For an album that was originally going to be called “Cocaine” (yes, you read that correctly, but the suits chopped that idea. The band even tried for “Snowblind”, until the suits bumped that idea as well), BLACK SABBATH VOL. 4 is a landmark album and (somewhat ironically) a stoner metal masterpiece built on the stony, doomy, metal foundations crafted by the band over the course of their 3 previous “volumes”, resulting in one of the finest offerings from the legendary period known as “The First Six”.   It's “time to hear what cocaine sounds like”.  Find out what sort of sonic gloriousness you can create when “the budget for blow is larger than the recording budget”, discover “the magic of marinara”, listen to “the most important riff of 1972” and pay heed to our “public service announcements” regarding “ride share rules” & “driver's license requirements” before you break out your straw and JOIN US for a look back at 50 years of stoner metal excellence as we talk outside the lines and dive snout first into BLACK SABBATH, VOL. 4.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, Google Podcasts or wherever you get your Podcasts. Discord Spring CleaningSupport Night Clerk Radio on Patreon In this episode, we're discussing the haunted plunderphonics project: chipmunks on 16 speed. These albums consist of pop covers, as sung by Alvin and the Chipmunks, slowed down and processed to sound as if they are being played on a 16 RPM record player. The result is a sludgy and doomy rendition of a pop song that sits perfectly between the unsettling and the familiar.Music Discussedchipmunkson16speed - SoundCloudchipmunkson16speed - BandCampChipmunks On 16 Speed - Sludgefest (Full Album) Other LinksBehold The Sludgy Post-Punk Doom Of Slowed-Down Alvin & The Chipmunks SongsBrian Borcherdt slows down Alvin and the Chipmunks songsAnd it's oddly compellingDo I look like I know what a JPEG is?
