Mark Kidder and Howard Blues raise a glass (and a laugh) with their good friend, the one and only LCL Geek, Triple B Brewmaster, for episode 160 of Beer, Blues, and Bs! Tavern Talk kicks things off with a trip to the North Dakota Heritage Center for Marvel Game Night, a sighting of a TARDIS at Disney (because who wouldn't want a beer with the Doctor?), and a deep dive into Beer Stats and Bad Beer. Sports Bar heats up as Kidder brings the scoop on the Colorado Avalanche's NHL Playoff run, while Howard drops an interesting fact about the Minnesota Timberwolves' surprising NBA Playoff journey. Howard, never one to disappoint, returns with a fresh batch of Dad Jokes of the Week. What's on Tap? takes a wild turn as LCL Geek throws a curveball with Beer-flavored Jelly Beans. Will the hosts be fans? Do they even taste like beer? Sippin' on Shows dives into the latest TV offerings, discussing The Resident, Star Trek Discovery, and The Ones Who Live. Board Game Banter gets its due, with Howard and LCL Geek geeking out over zombie games, Shadows Over Camelot, and Pandemic. Legacy Games also gets a shout-out, and Howard unveils a mysterious miniature, challenging the guys to guess its price. Plus, Howard needs your help finding a hilarious (and possibly lost) clip from a past episode! So, grab a cold one, crank up the blues, and get ready for another episode filled with laughter, libations, and lively discussions with Beer, Blues, and Bs! We will discuss the authority given in the New Testament for local congregations. Simply put, you can’t go it alone, and Jesus will not permit you to try.We will discuss The Bridezilla of Christ, by Ted Kluck and Ronnie Martin. It is tough to adopt a “you first” mentality in a “me first” culture. But we will kill the church if we don’t try.We will discuss what it means to be led by the Spirit. Some Christians use the Spirit as an excuse to disobey Jesus. And they ought to be ashamed of themselves. We will discuss Shadows over Camelot, a game in which King Arthur and his knights cooperate to achieve a common goal. Or not. Sometimes traitors live among us, and they can be difficult to identify.

So we've got something a little different this week. We've been talking about different ideas for setting up a patron page and what kind of content we could offer people who become patrons to help us out with things like beer money, web hosting, etc., and one of the ideas was the Schnell could read rulebooks, which would help us and our listeners with games new and old. This week we're rolling out our first few "Schnell Reads the Rules" for free as a way to introduce this format to our audience. Give it a listen and give us some feedback, either here in the Podbean comments, on Facebook, or via email to beerdgamers@gmail.com.

What's that? Who are we that can summon beer and comedy without brewing or comedy experience? There are some who call us....The Beer'd Gamers. Now that our Monty Python and the Holy Grail joke is out of the way, let us welcome you along on our journey through Camelot, for this week we give you a play through of Shadows Over Camelot, published by Days of Wonder and retailing at roughly $50, depending on the seller. Shadows Over Camelot sees players taking on the roll of various Knights of the Round Table, joining forces to defeat the game board. Over the course of the quest, a traitor may or may not be revealed, either through his own actions or from accusations from other players. The game can be played with up to seven people, which makes it ideal for game night. In this episode, we're all drinking beers from different breweries. Teej enjoys Guinness from, well, Guinness. Schnell gives a porter a go when he drinks Lake Louie Brewing's Tommy's Porter. Junior goes with a favorite brewery of ours, Dogfish Head, and drinks their Flesh and Blood IPA. Nelson enters the fantasy realm with Dragon Flute, from Karben4 Brewing. Bottoms up!
For our tenth episode we discuss what constitutes a house rule and the advantages and disadvantages of house ruling a game, as well as sharing a few examples of our own house rules. We also cover what we have been playing this week including Shadows Over Camelot, Codenames: Deep Undercover, Skull and Tadaam!

A bunch of games were announced, including Terra Mystica: Gaia Project, aka Terra Mystica IN SPACE, a two player version of Caverna, and the fiascos of Gloomhaven and First Martian Preorders are brought to light. In the Kickstarter section, Heroes of Land, Air, and Sea is taken down to prepare for a future relaunch, and some new tracks for Tramway are up. The holiday's are all over, so it is back to normal! We start of the podcast by have a quick look at Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective and Lanterns. Then we have a look back one year at Shadows Over Camelot. Finally we get into discussion Elysium. As usual we have a look at theme and components. Then the different flavours of the god decks (and is there a difference?). Are the decks balanced? Do we feel the game is missing anything? What about strategies, is there more than one? We finish off with our final thoughts, and the Red Corner has a quick look at the game from a casual gamer point of view.
We have a look at Shadows over Camelot - but there is a traitor in our midst who does not like the game? Will the forces for good detect him and stop him before he poisons the minds of the group against Shadows over Camelot? The four corners have a look at the following : - Components - The traitor mechanism (and does it just evolve into a Werewolf situation) - Different ways to play the traitor - Does pre-picking your characters constitute cheating? Or just playing the way you want to play And other topics as well, we then round off the discussion with our ratings and our suggestions of other games like Shadows over Camelot.
