Mark interviews Bradley Charbonneau about his new book PROCRASTINATE and his new "Book in a Weekend" program for writers. Prior to the interview, Mark shares comments from recent episodes, thanks Patrons, provides a personal update, and shares a word about this episode's sponsor. You can learn more about how you can get your audiobooks distributed to retailers and library systems around the world at starkreflections.ca/Findaway. In the interview, Mark and Bradley talk about: Bradley's love of Europe and his first eye-opening experience at the age of fourteen with the continent His early experience writing extremely long letters to his parents when, several years later, living in France The importance of the "audience" being yourself when you write The fact that on no calendar is there a day called SOMEDAY The concept of Stubborn VS Determined Bradley's first challenge of writing every single day for the month of November in 2012 A further challenge of posting a YouTube video every single day The idea of "practice is perfect" (as opposed to "practice makes perfect") The long-time streak of writing every single day for 2808 days in a row Being painfully reminded of himself when he hears an author say that they have an idea for a book that they might write "some day" Avoiding regret by taking action Bradley's admiration for humor and improv The program to get your "opposite" book written as a critical step to getting to that larger "massive" project that has always been kept at the horizon How the humor aspect of writing your "opposite" book can help bring out new elements of creativity and how it can be therapeutic Bradley's book PROCRASTINATE, which was his "opposite" book project The "book in a weekend" program that Bradley is running to help other writers overcome the things he had to overcome on his own writing journey The idea of writing a book every year as a way of creating a "timestamp" of who we are - the same way creating a photo album every year (which his mother used to do) works The DIY option as well as the interactive "virtual" real-time and "real-life in person" and the "one-on-one" options Bradley is working on And more . . . After the interview, Mark reflects on the importance of adapting "the rules" into something that works in the ways that work for YOU rather than some pre-prescribed notion that doesn't fit. If you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, maybe it's okay to break or shake up a few rules in order to pave your own path to success. I visit with author Bradley Charbonneau, who spent 9 years working on his "best book ever." Because of his intense desire for it to be perfect he never finished it. He was struggling with something that so many of us can relate to: the fear of not living up to unrealistic expectations of perfectionism. So instead he "flipped the script" and wrote the "Worst Book Ever", and thinks you should too.

Apparently, cats have 9 lives. For most humans, it’s usually just 1. For better or worse, he is a human. For all practical purposes and as far as any outsider could see, his life was perfect. He has his own company, lived in a house in the middle of San Francisco, and went every summer to his wife’s home country in Europe. Yet, on the inside, he was wondering when “that life I’m supposed to be living” was going to start. He was starting to hope he was a cat because, apparently, the life he had imagined, wasn’t going to happen in this lifetime. Until he took action on November 1, 2012. Then everything changed. Today's episode features Bradley Charbonneau.Bradley wanted to be that dad that "did cool stuff with his kids" but he didn't know how to make it happen, what to do, how to use the skills and interests that he had and combine them with something that would last longer than an afternoon out at the ball game. So, in 2014, he wrote a short book together with his two sons (then 8 and 10). The book was silly, short, and sparked an idea: they just collaborated on something that started from nothing, from imagination. Now they have a book. A thing they'll have forever that they did together. It was the beginning of "Spark". Now he has written 7 books together with his sons and nieces and is leading groups of parents and children through a one-month experience so that they too can create something from nothing and do it together with a child.
Bradley Charbonneau joins Talking Business Now to discuss the power of habit. He believes most of us suffer from one thing that is something of a quiet poison that keeps us from thriving to new heights. It's being comfortable. Yes, most of us suffer from the habitual, yet not-that-terrible lives we wake up to every day. Charbonneau was living a nice, comfortable life in San Francisco. He was running a successful agency, but it was killing him. His father's death in 2015 jolted him out of complacency. He said: "It was as if, for the first time, I realized we were mortal and had only this life to live." So, he shut down his agency, moved his family to Europe and started writing. A strong believer in the power of habit, Charbonneau made a decision to write for 30 days. He saw it as a formidable challenge. But he realized that if he approached it one day at a time, he could form a habit and achieve his goal. Charbonneau has been writing now for more than 2,000 and has authored 11 books and numerous blogs and articles. Tune in to discover: The power of daily habit and how it can lead to exponential growth. Why "deciding" doesn't need to be difficult. Why the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.The pattern of creating, failing and learning.A twist on what it means to "scale."How to shake the cobwebs out of your daily routine. Charbonneau's two latest books "One Day at a Time" and "Decide" are available on Amazon. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
I spent many years slogging away and getting nowhere. Then I spent some more years slogging away harder and getting somewhere. Then I spent less energy and less time and got beyond where I thought I could ever go: anywhere.? Bradley Charbonneau
Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes author Bradley Charbonneau. I'm excited that Bradley is here because his writing roots are important as a point of inspiration. This is what he told me: My dad died in 2015. It was as if, for the first time, I realized that we were mortal and had only this life to live. Unless you're a cat. But I wasn't a cat and I wasn't living the life I thought I was supposed to live--as an author. Since then, I've been writing. I only have one rule: I write Every Single Day. I've now published 14 books. It's working. About SPARK: "Spark: How to write a book with your kids and why you should." It's not just the story of how I wrote 5 books together with my two young sons, but a collection of other families' stories as well as a guide for you to build a stronger bond with your children through creating something together. If you have done something "creative" (term used loosely!) with your kids and had ANYthing positive as a result, I'd love to hear from you. Find out more at bradleycharbonneau.com/spark. Until then, keep creating Every Single Day.

It's good news. Well, depending on who you are.
Bradley Charbonneau's life was certainly OK. From the outside, things looked just fine. For years, he plodded along as if life was grand--and it was. Well, sort of. But it really wasn't. He wasn't doing anything close to what he dreamed that his life should really be like. He was living the life that he thought he was supposed to live. Then his father passed away and everything started to change. Decisions became effortless because life became clear. In fact, there was no longer really even a decision-making process, he just knew what he needed to do. He closed his company, moved his family to Europe, and began writing full time. All based on a decision to start living the life he knew he needed to live and then acting on that decision Every Single Day. www.bradleycharbonneau.com --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rawrelationships/support

What’s something that you do every single day that has contributed to your success? Do you check in with your followers on Facebook or Instagram to build engagement on those platforms? Do you look for sponsored post opportunities? The little things we do every single day can lead to huge successes, both personally and in our businesses. Small actions lead to big results. In this episode, I’m excited to feature an interview with a repeat guest, Bradley Charbonneau. In Episode 8 of the podcast, Bradley gave us some great tips about writing books and creating a killer book sales page. Today, he’s back to talk about his newest book, 'Every Single Day: A Simple Prescription for Transformation.' Show notes: bloggertoauthor.com/38 Click to view: show page on Awesound
Bradley Charbonneau began writing again after ten years with a thirty day challenge. A thousand days later and two published books he feels like he's just getting warmed up. I believe that we can all be adept at ignoring our inner voice...which generally speaking will point us in the direction of what we feel passionate about. We listen while we’re younger...it’s harder when responsibilities begin to weigh us down. While we all can’t quit our day jobs to chase our creative muses, what we can do is set aside even just a few moments from our day to honor what we feel passionate about. That is exactly what my guest today, Bradley Charbonneau, did. After receiving John Muldoon’s “Monthly Experiments” Challenge, Bradley revisited his love for writing and faced his fear square in the eye and with his pen. Bradley had been published before, but ten years and two children later made it seem like a very far-off place to find his way back to. When demands of family had set in, he gave himself the ultimatum to find a “real job” to pay the bills. But the whisper of passion is relentless, and I can’t wait for you to hear how Bradley found his way back to writing, and how a simple 30-day challenge truly took on a life of its own.
