IN THIS EPISODE: [2:21] Jenn shares what Salad with a Side of Fries members are getting this week![5:05] What did Anna learn while working for a Congressman and Lieutenant Governor? [12:47] How did Anna's life shift after she decided to leave her role under the Congressman? [15:15] Why is Anna such a big fan of routines?[17:41] What's Anna's take on busy and good busy?[20:27] How do routines and habits work together?[24:15] What is the CURVE method? [30:54] How can people navigate situations faster and simpler so they can move forward quicker? [33:47] How can we navigate schedules during the upcoming busy holiday season?[41:23] Anna shares her final thoughts about routines. [41:49] Rapid fire, off topic questions with Anna. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Routines end up serving as the absolute foundation of your life that everything else builds upon. When busy times come up, and there are things happening outside of the norm, utilize CURVE (Control, Understand, Resources, Vital, Enlist) to help you navigate what you are coming up against. If you are constantly dealing with curve balls - look to see if they are truly external factors or if they are something that you are creating unknowingly. Sometimes curveballs can be avoided with the right routines in place. QUOTES: [10:42] “Sometimes, whenever you are so involved, ingrained, and you throw so much of yourself into your work, I'm sure everybody maybe has experienced this at some point, you really start to lose pieces of yourself along the way. Especially when you're in a crisis situation and you are there for someone who is in the worst experience that they have ever had in their entire life.” - Anna Dearmon Kornick[15:28] “We spend likely more than half of our days just engaged in habit based behavior. We are living a lot of our life on autopilot, in that we are following the same well worn paths throughout our day.” - Anna Dearmon Kornick[33:16] “It makes so much more sense to learn from other people and to get help from other people instead of just trying to do it all yourself, because you feel like it doesn't count if you don't do it all yourself.” - Anna Dearmon Kornick“If, also, what helps you feel in control of your day and your life is maintaining some of your routines, then that's where we enlist the support. If you're someone that struggles with setting goals and staying focused enough to hit those goals, your approach needs to be checked. Asking the right questions when setting goals and when trying to find a business partner can get you farther down the right path. In this episode of The Real Estate Mindset Podcast, we chat with Dave Gutierrez & Stu Grazier about being community-minded and the power of accountability. David Gutierrez and Stu Grazier forged a lasting bond at the Naval Academy, navigating distant postings except for a memorable stint in Naples, Italy. There, amidst shared laughter and future dreams, they decided to embark on a new adventure: real estate investing. But their journey wasn't just about bricks and mortar. They understood the crucial role of choosing the right partners – in this case, each other. Building on their friendship, they meticulously planned their business partnership. Like pre-marital counseling, they discussed core values, potential roadblocks (unappraised deals, enticing outside opportunities), and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Open communication and mutual respect were key to ensuring they continued to bring their best selves to the table.Their story underscores a vital message: before diving into any partnership, have the essential conversations. Just like marriage, discuss expectations, anticipate challenges, and create a roadmap for success. In their case, clear communication and meticulous planning laid the foundation for a thriving business built on trust and friendship. What we discuss:(03:00) Creating a community of givers(7:30) The start of the Kinetic Man Mastermind(14:00) The power of accountability (24:45) Goal setting & Building Kinetic Men(36:50) Being a person someone would invest in(47:00) Cut your to do list (48:30) Celebrate the wins(50:00) Find more from Dave & StuTo learn more about Dave Gutierrez & Stu Grazier:Website: https://storehouse310.com/ Podcast: The Kinetic ManThe Kinetic Man Mastermind

As I'm recording this episode, the holiday season is in full swing and I'm planning my 2024 vision, goals, and still noodling on my word for the year. If I'm being honest, I have a mixed relationship with New Year's Resolutions and believe that you can start a new habit any day of the year. This is what this episode is all about - The Art of Creating Habits, whether it's to gear up for the new year or at any other day of your life. This is the first of a three episode series that I'll be doing on habits. I'm incredibly passionate about this topic and am going to share my tips over the next couple of episodes on how to build consistent habits, starting with using my most recent (crazy!) habit, going for daily dips in the ocean, as an example. We're going to cover how to transform your habits into deeply satisfying expressions of your identity, how to become consistent with them, and why building healthy habits is especially important if you're an empath. We're also going to talk about staying present and choosing habits that actually matter. I believe that committing to a new habit can open the door to an entirely new way of life for you, and can't wait to share what I've learned over the last decade of habit setting! Topics: New Year's Resolutions and why they may or may not work when trying to build a new habit Catherine's most recent habit, going for daily swims in the ocean, and how it has impacted her life Mindset practices that help Catherine maintain habits for months, years or even indefinitely How to cultivate mindset strength to stay consistent with habits Why habit building is particularly important for empaths and how they allow you to take better care of yourself and others The idea that habits can be an expression of who you are and your identity How to choose habits that make you feel satisfied and fulfilled Episode Resources: Gay Hendricks, “The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level” James Clear, “Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones” 6-Month Course on Mastering Presence Eve Rodsky, “Find Your Unicorn Space: Reclaim Your Creative Life in a Too-Busy World” Connect with Catherine: Website LinkedIn Instagram YouTube Sign up to receive my weekly digest on empathic entrepreneurship and hear from voices committed to spreading this message, sent straight to your inbox every Friday since 2016, here. What's so special about January 1 anyway? It's just another day. Instead of making resolutions you're doomed to abandon, today's episode will encourage you to create better habits and routines instead.
Auditing your life is a powerful way to reflect on your current situation and make intentional choices to set yourself up for a successful and fulfilling new year. In this episode, Astrid and Alexis share seven categories to help you break down the different segments of your life and rate them on a scale of 1-10. With each category, they share questions to help you dig a little deeper. Once you know which areas of life you want to improve in, you can begin to create habits to support that change! This is a great way to set yourself up for an intentional and successful 2024! //@inbetween.pod//@astridjohanaphoto//@alexisteichmiller
Creating Habits that Will Change Your Life, Your Business, and Your Career When we think of the word "habits", typically we jump to the negative. We may think of all the bad habits we need to get rid of... However, when if we were to rethink the word "habit" we may be able to stretch our mind to the idea of good or positive habits. And by creating those habits we can achieve greater success. In this episode of A New Direction Rahul Sharma joins me to talk about his book "Habits4Miracles: Design Your Life Your Way". Rahul is going to share with us 8 habits we need to develop and the actions that we need to take so that we can unleash our potential and create greater success in our life, career, and business. Rahul Sharma's book Habits4Miracles: Design Your Life Your Way is a practical guide to changing your life, unleashing your potential, and creating greater success. The book uses an acronym format for the word "Miracles", and at the end of each chapter provides actionable steps so that you can create those habits that you need to becoming the authentic you. The book is well organized, well written, provides some great research, and relatable stories that everyone can connect with. I highly recommend that book. As a special gift to A New Direction listeners Rahul is offering a free Habits4Miracles workbook by going to the website and mentioning you heard him on A New Direction. Introduction: Welcome to October, dear listeners! If you're tuning in today, it's the early part of this promising month. As we embrace October, we're also mindful of the fact that we're nearing the end of the year. For those who approach life in quarters, this is your last chance to achieve the goals you've set for the year. For many of us, the journey through infertility has added a unique layer of complexity to our goal-setting. In this episode, we'll explore how setting goals and cultivating habits can be especially empowering for those who've faced fertility challenges. The Series: This episode marks the beginning of a multi-part series. While we'll provide valuable insights today, the series will continue with subsequent episodes that build upon these principles. Our aim is to help you understand that, despite the challenges of infertility, you have the capacity to achieve your dreams and goals. Redefining Goals as Habits: Before we dive into the details, let's reframe how we think about goals. Often, when we hear the word "habit," we think of negative behaviors we're trying to overcome. However, we can view habits as new, positive elements we wish to incorporate into our lives—tools that will help us reach our goals. Goals as Habits: Many of us who have experienced infertility have a history of being goal-oriented. We're accustomed to setting our sights on targets and pursuing them with determination. However, infertility can sometimes shake our confidence in our ability to achieve our goals. Let's start thinking of these goals as habits we're determined to cultivate. Brainstorming: Start by brainstorming what you desire more of in your life and where you'd like to intensify your focus. Grab a journal or some paper and list all the things that resonate with you. Perhaps you've heard someone talk about something and thought, "I wish I could be someone who does that." Well, it's time to identify those desires. My Personal Habits: To illustrate, let me share my own goals for this month and the final quarter of the year. I've chosen three habits I want to nurture, and these are especially important to me as I've navigated the challenges of infertility: Regular Exercise: Committing to at least three sessions of physical activity per week. Exercise has been a source of strength and resilience during my fertility journey. Daily Vitamin Intake: After concluding my fertility treatments, I developed an aversion to vitamins. Now, I'm ready to reintroduce daily vitamin consumption into my routine, prioritizing my overall health. Meal Planning: I want to engage in meal planning at least four days a week. This practice helps me make intentional choices about what I eat, which is essential for my well-being during this journey. Adjusting Habits: I call these "habits" rather than goals because they're actions I wish to integrate into my daily life. It's crucial to consider how frequently you're willing to perform these habits. Start with achievable numbers, and if needed, be open to adjusting them as you progress. Plan and Prioritize: As you brainstorm your own habits or goals, also consider their importance and feasibility. What impact will they have on your life, particularly in the context of infertility? Are these high-impact habits, or are some less crucial and can be postponed? Conclusion: This marks the conclusion of Part One of our series on achieving goals through habits, with a special emphasis on the challenges of infertility. I encourage you to dedicate some time to brainstorming your own habits or goals, rank them by importance and feasibility, and understand the profound reasons behind them. In our next episode, Part Two, we'll delve deeper into the process of creating and maintaining impactful habits, providing you with additional insights and practical advice. Stay tuned as we continue to support you on your journey toward goal achievement amidst the complexities of infertility.

In this episode we interview our friends Autumn and Andrew Elliott. They saw a major turn in their connection after some counseling revealed a need for a "baseline." This baseline served as their way to stay connected on the most basic level so that the small conflicts that used to tank them before were no longer pulling them down. Another possible name for this "baseline" are "connection habits." It was a few simple, basic habits they put in place that got them out of the red and to a good baseline from which they could get through the craziness of their schedules and find even deeper connection. Please rate, review & share the podcast! For more on what the Zints have to offer, check out ZintSquad.com where you can book one-on-one or couples coachings for emotional and relational health with Jenna and Aaron, join the waitlist for Jenna's life-changing Habit Mastery Course and check out Aaron's new book Numb to Known: The Surprising Path Away From Porn.
