Es gibt Menschen, die muss man einfach toll finden. So eine anpackende und lebensfrohe Frau ist Alexandra Müller. Sie ist in Frankfurt geboren und wollte immer Köchin werden, denn gutes Essen ist ihre Leidenschaft. „Es muss schmecken, gut aussehen und da darf dann auch Butter dran sein“, ist ihre Devise. Sie lernte das Kochen von der Pike auf bei der LSG Sky Chefs der Lufthansa. „Eine der besten Ausbildungen seinerzeit. Ich habe an vielen Wettbewerben und Fortbildungen teilnehmen dürfen, die mich motiviert haben“, so die 43-Jährige, die ihren Küchenstil als klassisch-modern, intensiv und ehrlich bezeichnet. Nach der Lehre arbeitete sie u.a. im The Dorchester (London), im besternten Restaurant Ente (Wiesbaden) und in einige Top-Häusern in der Schweiz, ihre Wahlheimat. Mit ihrem Mann erwarb sie das Landhotel L'Etoile in Charmey in den Schweizer Voralpen, bekam zwei Kinder – dann zerbrach die Ehe. Wie sie als alleinerziehende Mutter das 20-Zimmer Landhotel mit Restaurant weiterführte und kurze Zeit später einen Michelin Stern für ihre Küchenleistung bekam, und warum sie seit Juni 2024 als kulinarische Botschafterin der Romantik Hotels durch Europa reist, erfahren Interessierte in der Episode 71. Es lohnt sich, dieser mutmachenden Sterneköchin zuzuhören, die im Februar 2024 erstmals beim Schleswig-Holstein Gourmet Festival im Romantik Hotel Waldschlösschen in Schleswig aufkochte und nicht nur die Gäste, sondern auch die Mitarbeiter und Inhaberfamilie Behmer begeisterte.

In dieser Episode sprechen wir mit der Spitzenköchin Alexandra Müller, ehemalige Besitzerin des renommierten Hotels L'Etoile und des Gourmet-Restaurants Nova im Örtchen Charmey in der französischen Schweiz. Nachdem 2018 ihr Küchenchef und Souschef die Küche über Nacht verließen, musste sich die gelernte Köchin spontan selbst hinter den Herd begeben. Wenig später erhielt sie Besuch vom Guide Michelin, bei dem sich der Inspekteur nach dem Essen zu Erkennen gab und ihr einen möglichen Michelin-Stern andeutete. Sie bat um Bedenkzeit, denn sie hatte bereits den Entschluss gefasst, zur rustikalen Küche zurückzukehren, nahm die Auszeichnung an und führte das Hotel und die Küche des Sterne-Restaurans fortan in Doppelfunktion. Nach dem Verkauf des Hotels und mehr Zeit für die Familie, steht Alexandra nun vor einem neuen Kapitel, dessen Details noch geheim sind, aber sie wird weiterhin der Gastronomie und Hotellerie treu bleiben. Aktuell ist sie als Gastköchin unterwegs, wie kürzlich beim Schleswig-Holstein Gourmet Festival, wo sie im Romantik Hotel Waldschlösschen an der Schlei begeisterte. Ihr Kochstil ist klassisch französisch mit modernen, innovativen Elementen. Sie legt Wert auf saisonale und regionale Zutaten, hält nichts vom Sous-vide-Garen und meidet übertriebene Perfektion und Pinzetteneinsatz auf dem Teller. Der Geschmack ist, was zählt. Sie selbst speist - wenn sie unterwegs ist - am liebsten bei ihren **Jeune Restaurateur **Kollegen in der Schweiz und sie liebt Boutiquehotels. Ursprünglich aus Frankfurt am Main stammend, absolvierte Alexandra Müller ihre Ausbildung bei den LSG Sky Chefs der Lufthansa, bevor sie sich national und international einen Namen bei Kochwettbewerben machte. Stationen in der Top-Gastronomie in England, Deutschland und schließlich in der Schweiz prägten ihren Werdegang, wo sie bis heute mit ihrer Familie lebt und auch zukünftig tätig sein wird. Remi Bonnet is a professional trail runner and ski mountaineer for Salomon International based in Charmey, Switzerland. Remi was 8th place at Sierre Zinal last year and followed up the race with some dominating wins at Pikes Peak Ascent, Flagstaff Sky Peaks and the Golden Trail World Series Final. Julie M. Abijanac, CCAD Professor and fiber artist, talks with jewelry designer Kathleen Lamberti. They met at Cranbrook Academy of Art and will discuss longtime friendships, personal struggles with cancer, and how their art has been impacted by both. Monatelang sah es nach einem Totalausfall des Festivalsommers aus. Nun finden einige Klassikfestivals doch statt. Zum Beispiel das «Lucerne Festival», das «Davos Festival» und das «Festival du Lied». In «Kontext» zeigen wir, was diese Klassikfestivals gebracht haben und was in diesem Jahr anders war Als der Bundesrat im März den Lockdown verordnete, hofften die Festivalveranstalter, der Spuk sei im Sommer wieder vorbei. Stattdessen folgten bange Monate, in denen es nach einem Totalausfall des Festivalsommers aussah. Mitte August lässt sich nun bilanzieren: Corona hat die grossen Festivals besonders hart getroffen. Doch wer klassische Musik geniessen und Festivalatmosphäre schnuppern wollte, kam auch im Corona-Sommer auf die Kosten. Drei Schweizer Klassikfestivals haben wir besucht und stellen sie in «Kontext» genauer vor. Das «Lucerne Festival», das in diesem Jahr in einer Kurz-Version über die Bühne ging. Das «Davos Festival», das nahezu unverändert stattfinden konnte. Und das «Festival du Lied» in Charmey im Greyerzerland, das dieses Jahr sogar «dank» Corona zustande kam. Pierre Bugnard nous reçoit chez lui, à Charmey. A quoi ressemble une journée idéale à ses yeux? «A Charmey, toutes les journées sont idéales», commence-t-il par plaisanter. Membre du cadre national B, le skieur alpin fribourgeois évoque ensuite son ascension sportive, des pentes de Vounetz jusqu’aux portillons de la Coupe du Monde. Il revient sur la commotion qui l’a arrêté durant l’hiver dernier et se projette dans un avenir qui s’écrira peut-être sans ski.

DC Beer's Richard and Adam sit down with Jon Zerivitz and Kevin Blodger of Union Craft Brewing in Baltimore, Maryland to discuss how their brewery has become a pillar of their neighborhood over the past eight years. Simple, Good Beer for Baltimore Jon, Kevin, and their business partner, Adam Benesch, founded Union Craft Brewing in 2011 with the vision of making good craft beer for the enjoyment of local Baltimore residents. It was the first new brewery built in Baltimore in 30 years. Kevin, the Director of Brewing Operations, brought a simple concept to Union Craft Brewing: make good quality beer that anyone can appreciate. Today, Union Craft Brewing offers a wide variety of beers, with Kevin encouraging his staff to experiment with new, innovative brews.Many Union Craft Brewing beers are creatively named after Baltimore-area landmarks. Some popular names include Blackwing (a tribute to local sports teams Ravens and Orioles--both black-winged birds) and Anthem (invoking Francis Scott Key's penning of The Star-Spangled Banner just outside of Fort McHenry in Baltimore). A New Home at the Union CollectiveJon, Kevin, and Adam wanted Union Craft Brewing to become a vibrant hub for the neighborhood. In 2018, they moved into an old industrial building and transformed it into the Union Collective, a business park that hosts a number of independent businesses, including Charmey ice cream shop, Earth Treks rock climbing, Baltimore Spirits Company, Vent Coffee Roasters, Well Crafted Kitchen, and the Wine Collective. They haven't stopped there. Union Craft Brewing now hosts a number of concerts and parties to bring the community together. The brewery boasts a massive taproom with a concert stage and plenty of room for large crowds. It has a capacity for 35,000 barrels (and they currently produce about 13,000 barrels per year).Union Craft Brewing is a family-friendly environment that allows anyone to enter until 6pm, when it then becomes a 21-and-older facility. Upcoming Beer Releases and Events Kevin has some new, exciting beers on tap for this winter. On November 1, he released the Cold Pro, which riffs off their summer seasonal wheat beer Old Pro by removing coriander and adding cranberries and a touch of cinnamon. He will also begin selling mini-kegs of Snowpants, a winter seasonal oatmeal stout, as part of the brewery's winter beer release event called The Cornucopia.Union Craft Brewing has a few other exciting events on the horizon. On November 16, it is hosting their sixth annual Oyfest in collaboration with The Local Oyster and True Chesapeake Oyster Co. Join us at SCRIPT as we interview our first artist Katherine Spinella. Her work often finds the beauty of objects discarded. Both physical and digital, we will discuss the methods she utilizes in her art practice when mining for content. We will also discuss how artist's practices have shifted with the endless potential of search sources such as Google.  Katherine Spinella is an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. Her studio practice explores the fallacy of human dominance and mastery over the natural world, while transporting the refuse of commerce into fractures, elevated, and philosophically personified artifacts. As a habitual collector of discarded physical and digital commodities, she uses printmaking, sculpture, and digital images as a means of archiving and deconstructing commonplace objects and materials in search of their embedded ideological meaning. Spinella has recently exhibited in Portland, OR at Littman + White Gallery, Carnation Contemporary, and One Grand Gallery and in Los Angeles, CA at Outback Arthouse. Additionally, she has exhibited at Musée de Charmey in Charmey, Switzerland and Disjecta Contemporary Art Center and Portland Art Museum in Portland, OR. Her work has recently been published in the Endless Editions 2018 Biennial Catalog Project in NYC and Peripheral Vision Journal No. 7 based in Dallas, TX. She has received grant support from the Ford Family Foundation and Oregon Arts Commission and attended residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Kala Art Institute, and Women's Studio Workshop. Spinella is an MFA graduate from the University of Oregon 2013 cohort. She is currently a faculty member at Portland State University, Oregon State University, Linn-Benton Community College and MFA Mentor at Oregon College of Art and Craft.
