In Episode 55 of The Steak Lad Experience, I had the privilege to sit down with my friends Sean Bell & Mitch Viney. This was an incredible two-part discussion and a first for me personally on the podcast, given I have never had two guests on at the same time. During Part 1, myself and Sean spoke together on a standalone basis, discussing numerous aspects of his early childhood, the importance of mentors throughout his journey, how he got into running and the dominoes that fell into the place that eventually motivated him to run around Australia. In Part 2, myself and Sean were joined by Mitch who was one of his crew members during the run. This allowed me to dive deep and have the both of them provide an insight into what it was like from their perspectives during numerous stages of the run. This included many highs/lows, when Sean thought he could no longer continue, Mitch's reflection on what it was like witnessing what Sean was putting his body through and much much more. To have the chance to listen to both Sean and Mitch reflect on what I can only describe as one of the most impressive feats of human endurance I have ever heard of was something I will not be forgetting anytime soon, please let me know if you enjoyed it as much as I did! Kenneth Stevenson is a filmmaker illustrating stories centered on bodily autonomy, the virtue of suffering, self-governance, diversity of thought, voluntaryism, and the struggle of displaced transcendentalists. He frequently draws inspiration from punk / y'alternative rock music and Libertarianism to express his frustrations with centralized power and oppressive ideologies.During Part 3 of 3, Kenneth opens up about the murder that happened on his street in Louisville, Kentucky, its effects on his immediate family, and the perspective gained from hearing the opinions of the neighbors and the police.Kenneth and host, Sienna Mae Heath, explore the nature of the liberty conscience, worries about loved ones' ideological capture, and discerning what are the real or biggest threats while entertaining conspiracy theories. Rooted in free will, liberty is beautiful and yet cursed with its price: eternal vigilance. Americans owe it to each other to shoulder the burden of vigilance so that there is headspace for one to live in the present moment.(This episode was recorded prior to the election)This series is also available as a podcast on your app of choice.Follow Sienna Mae Heath on Instagram @sovereign_sienna, Facebook @ sienna.m.heath, or at https://siennamaeheath.substack.com.Be sure to follow Kenneth on his socials!www.instagram.com/the_kennethstevenson/ www.facebook.com/kennethtstevenson Also check out Sienna's other works:Real Unity filmhttps://freethepeople.org/real-unity/Food is Freedom serieshttps://bit.ly/foodisfreedomFlowers of One Garden videohttps://siennamaeheath.substack.com/p/unite-the-hearts-why-i-love-the-bahaiSienna's 10 Questions Post-Pandemichttps://www.instagram.com/p/CbydPZlrYuv/?igsh=MWJnaTM4MDU5bzJ3YQ==The Trampled Woman (poem produced during the Defeat the Mandates/Freedom Convoy era)https://freethepeople.org/the-trampled-woman/

On this episode of the Lessons Learned for Vets podcast, we continue our discussion on interview best practices with career strategist, Brenda Mariah. We encourage you to listen to Part 1, episode 158 before continuing with this episode. During Part 1, Brenda explained the purpose of an interview, what every employer is looking for during an interview and how to stay in control during the interview process. On this episode, we dive into the anatomy of an interview. The interview process can be divided into 5 stages. During Part 1, we discussed Stage 1: Making an Entrance. We continue with Stage 2: Questions They Ask You. Most likely, every interview will begin with the “Tell me about yourself” question. Brenda advises candidates to use this question to highlight their qualifications, skills and character. Her formula is 1. I love… 2. I'm proud of… 3. I'm excited to…. First, tell the employer what you love about the role. Second, list some of your accomplishments. Third, let the employer know how you plan to use your skills to improve the organization. This question is meant to be an icebreaker and to give the employer insights about your professional qualifications and skills and how they can benefit their company. Make the answers relevant to their needs. Another popular question is “What are your weaknesses?” Brenda has 3 tips for responding to this question. 1. It should be an actual weakness that you possess. 2. It should not be critical to the job. 3. Explain how you are overcoming the weakness. Stage 3: Question You Ask. At the end of the interview, always be prepared to ask the employer questions. If you are prompted to ask questions, and you decline the opportunity, the employer will assume you do not want the job. Prepare 10 questions for the employer knowing that some of them may have already been answered during the interview and assume that you will have the opportunity to ask 2 or 3 of your prepared questions. Don't miss the opportunity to engage with the employer and show them that you've done your research and are interested in the job. Stage 4: Closing. Make sure they know you want the job. Thank them for their time and express to them once again why you would make a great fit. Stage 5: Post-interview follow-up. Did you know that only 1 in 200 candidates will send any kind of follow-up message after an interview? Sending a handwritten thank you, a thank you email or a LinkedIn connection request with a thank you message will help you stand out from the crowd. It also serves as an additional opportunity for you to showcase how your skills can benefit their organization. Don't be afraid to include a plan to follow up on a specified date. (To win a personalized 8x10 Michelle Phillips autograph, keep reading.) Simply put, this is the best interview I've done to date. It helps that band biographer Richard Campbell and I were faced with a woman who was ready to come clean, to be so vulnerable, so funny….and SO RAW. In Part 1, we're treated to… An in-depth exploration of the group's very first acid trip together; A glimpse into Michelle's intense hatred toward one of The Mamas & The Papas' biggest ever hits; And in all likelihood, the most mythologically crazy backstory in rock history. This week I speak with Randall Michael Tobin in Part 2 of our conversation. Randall founded his Theta Sound Studio way back in 1977 and has worked on thousands of projects in various genres including Jazz, Pop, R&B, Classical, Hip Hop, Country, Ragtime, Gospel, Ballet, Alternative, Film Score and Spoken Word. Besides offering just about every audio service you can think of, he also offers art and graphics, online marketing and promotion, video production and editing, and website design and maintenance. As I said last week, there's more to Randall's story than just audio. His interest in artisan cooking led him to baking sourdough bread loafs that he gave to clients and friends as gifts. This eventually led to a side business called Random Acts of Breadness, where as an artisan baker, Randall sells sourdough bread along with raw farm butters, honey spreads, jams and organic extra virgin olive oils. And as I also said last week, I eat at least one piece of Randall's most delicious sourdough just about every day. During Part 2 of our interview, we spoke about how some house concerts started his side-career in cooking and baking, the similarities between food and music, using gorilla marketing to start his bakery, the importance of pivoting when opportunities present themselves, and much more. I spoke with Randall from his studio in Burbank, California. On the intro I looked at Warner Music looking to buy Tunecore parent company Believe Music, and the most popular hardware synthesizer by country.

Here's the exciting conclusion of a two parter that's all about songs with "heart" - in the title, that is. The heart is a nasty lookin' thing, innit? But it's a word that symbolizes so much - love, pain, devotion, longing, passion, energy, excitement, life itself. It's safe to say that it's perhaps the second most essential organ in rock n' roll (insert winky smiley face here). We are thrilled to be joined by Andrea Lewis Jarvis, Harley Farr, and Matt Gray from The Darling Buds! The Buds formed in Newport, Wales in 1986, a band of friends who made great music and experienced amazing adventures together. The new 5-CD Cherry Red Records box set, Killing For Love: Albums, Singles, Rarities, Unreleased 1987-2017 collects the band's three albums recorded for CBS/Sony (1989's Pop Said... , 1990's Crawdaddy, 1992's Erotica), their 2017 EP Evergreen, and plenty of early singles, demos, b-sides, and rarities. During Part 2, you'll hear our top two choices for "heart" songs, the glorious new box set, the pros and cons of the modern music business model, the obscene power of the British music media, US vs. UK crowds, the timelessness of classic alternative, and what drives the band now. Plus, hear the 1987 Leeds demo of "Shame On You" from Killing For Love. If you haven't listened to Part 1 yet, go back and listen! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Part one of a two parter that's all about songs with "heart" - in the title, that is. During Part 1, you'll hear our first three choices for "heart" songs, the thrill of being played on John Peel, Tom Waits in the toilet, major label pressures, a guy who we shall call "Fred", that other Erotica album, LA nights, dalliances with Debbie Harry, Kirsty MacColl, Thompson Twins, Christina Applegate, Cher, Sarah Jessica Parker, the cast of 90210, and getting stuck with Shane MacGowan's bar bills. Plus, hear the previously unreleased demo "Why Bother Now" from Killing For Love. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
