This week on the Eurogamer Newscast, we look back on the start of this year's June hype cycle, the period formerly known as E3, and now a potpourri of other events and announcement livestreams. PlayStation got the ball rolling last night with a look ahead at its rather meagre first-party plans for the remainder of 2024: a moderately buffed-up port of Until Dawn, online shooter Concord, and the charming Astro Bot. But, as our Ian wrote earlier, even the cute robot has got some people (VR fans) disgruntled. Still, as a flat-screen game, surely more people will now play it? And then there was Silent Hill Transmission or, this time around, basically just a longer look at the upcoming Silent Hill 2 and a chance for Konami to promote a load of tie-in tat. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remaster launches in late 2023. "Super Switch" will be announced in Fall 2023, have a showcase in early 2024, and launch in first half of 2024. Metroid Prime 4 will be shown for "Super Switch" and launch in 2024. A new Nintendo-exclusive Resident Evil game will be announced. The Game Pass Family plan arrives in North America, alongside a price bump in the service. The Splinter Cell remake is on Xbox's stage. Gears of War Collection announced, possibly with Unreal 5 efforts. PlayStation 2023 Predictions Logan's PlayStation Predictions The Last of Us Part III will be formally announced. The game will center around an older Ellie taking care of JJ. Marvel's Wolverine won't been shown off at all, but it will be mentioned. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 will be shown off at the PlayStation Showcase and get a new window of 2024. Ghost of Tsushima 2 will be announced and reveal a new location. Bluepoint Games reveals their next remake with a 2024 release window. Max's PlayStation Predictions The Last of Us Factions game is properly revealed. It is announced to launch on PC day and date. E3 is upon us. Gav, Krupa, and Joe reveal what they're most excited for at this year's show. That's the first-half. But the second-half of this week's show is all about The Mummy, the first adventure in the new monsters shared universe. Our E3 hype podcast has arrived a bit later in the day today than originally planned, but we hope you find the episode worth the wait. In fact, we have a special bonus episode, something we call bonus talk, arriving later this week where we go over all the other press conferences and some thoughts about them. This time though for our main episode this week, it's all about Nintendo, Zelda U/NX, and our first ever betting special. My co-host Alfred and myself go head to head in a betting special that has some really high and naturally embarrassing stakes, dragging our guests this week (Darrin and Rabidluigi) into some intense E3 related questions to decide our fate. It's simply something you are not going to want to miss out on. In fact, later this week we'll be releasing a separate video of just our bets, that way you can salivate over them even more. Of course, it wouldn't be the first ever betting special if we didn't have a little bit of a controversy. You can vote in the poll below to help decide the fate of question 5 from our lovely Aflred. Outside of the bets, we talk extensively about Zelda U and our hype (in my case), or the lack thereof (everyone else) as we head into E3. We also go over some fan topics that all mostly pertain to Zelda U, save a rather interesting mention of Advance Wars.
