Já imaginou um animal que canta, mas não consegue ouvir a própria voz e nem a dos companheiros da mesma espécie? Pois esse é o caso de dois sapinhos estudados pelo Instituto de Biologia da Unicamp: o sapinho-pingo-de-ouro (Brachycephalus rotenbergae) e sapinho-pitanga (Brachycephalus pitanga).  O biólogo e professor Luís Felipe Toledo estudou o funcionamento do sistema auditivo desses anfíbios e descobriu que eles não têm tímpanos e são incapazes de perceber sons com frequência acima de 1.000 Hertz como é o caso da sua própria vocalização. Já os sons graves, com frequência abaixo dos 1.000 Hertz, com é o caso da nossa voz, são captados por um órgão auditivo ligado à perna do sapo.  Nesse episódio de Sons da Terra o biólogo discute com os repórteres do Terra da Gente as hipóteses e eventos evolutivos que podem ter levado os sapinhos à surdez parcial e outras curiosidades. And we talk about "back-paddling," the mystic art of sitting closer to the beach than a surfer taking off at the peak of a wave and trying to take off behind him after he's already up and riding. Also commonly known by surfers and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as "being a f***ing weasel" or "weaseling." It wasn't mentioned during the show but surfers guilty of back-paddling should face the same harsh prison sentences and public ridicule as child molesters and people who abuse animals. Canción dedicada a una mujer juchiteca cuya belleza sin par la hizo famosa en la década de los cincuentas. Rosa Pina era tabernera, y su hermosura la convirtió también en musa para poetas y compositores.

Cuando la atracción existe entre dos personas, poco importa que hablen idiomas diferentes. El deseo, el cariño, el amor, son idiomas universales que también sirven para tender puentes de comunicación.

Como muchos otros sones, éste se enriqueció con la letra de un trovador juchiteco. Móu Deeme, uno de los integrantes del Trío Xhavizende, convirtió la melodía en un canto de amor. Así nació esta versión de Laureana, que Felipe Toledo interpreta con gran sentimiento.

Melodía dedicada a la mujer tehuana. Símbolo en el que se integran todas las zapotecas del Istmo. Canción entonada con un cariño inigualable.
