I’ve heard it said that for people who are suicidal, it isn’t that they hate life, it’s that they hate life the way that it is. It’s not even about wanting to end their life, it’s about wanting to end their pain. But sadly, so many find themselves slipping to the point of brokenness where it seems so difficult or at times impossible to see an opportunity for change or a brighter tomorrow. Today’s guest has a similar story of wanting the pain to stop in his own life! After a difficult upbringing and some challenging moments in his own personal life, Casey Temple, found himself pulling the trigger with every intention of ending his life. BUT GOD had different plans! Rather escaping the pain, Jesus brought him purpose, hope, and healing in the midst of it! Through Recovery Alive, a revolutionary church-based response to human brokenness, rooted in the power, people, and process of the Christ-centered 12 steps, Casey found the freedom he always longed for! Now getting to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of Recovery Alive, Casey can say with complete confidence that God has radically transformed his life, addictions, and testimony. We are excited to share his journey with you, with the hope that it will be a steadfast reminder to you that it is NEVER too late, and there is ALWAYS hope! Many parents feel that they have to pick a side on the feeding debate - breast or bottle. But the reality is that often families find themselves a compromise, whether that is adding an occasional bottle to their routine, or switching to formula during the day, and breastfeeds when mum gets home from work. Despite this, information about how to go about mixed or combination feeding has been scarce, until now. My guest this week, Lucy Ruddle IBCLC, is author of a guide to mixed feeding, Mixed Up, which guides you through all you need to know.In our conversation, we touch on why you might want to mixed feed, we cut through the marketing to what you actually need to buy, and we talk about the emotional journey that many parents face when they can't meet their infant feeding goals.Find more from Lucy, including details of her four books at www.lucyruddle.co.ukPlease subscribe, rate and review, so we can get this vital info to as many parents-to-be as we can!______________________This episode is sponsored byiCandyVisit https://discover.icandyworld.com/birth-ed to shop my favourite pushchairs!Follow iCandy on IG and/or TikTok for helpful advice and ‘hints & tips' too!https://www.tiktok.com/@icandyworldhttps://www.instagram.com/icandyworlduk/The Bump Plan - visit thebumpplan.com/birthed-postnatal to access:Free Postnatal Pelvic Floor Recovery WorkshopFree Online Postnatal Returning to Exercise MasterclassAn exclusive 20% discount code to join The Bump Plan Postnatal POSTNATAL PLAN: A physio-approved program designed by Hollie Grant while she was postnatal, creating a unique and trustworthy experience for new mothers. With social media platforms increasingly censoring candid images of birth and women's bodies, I got together this week with The Naked Doula, Emma Armstrong, to talk about why we need to see real women's experiences online. Our wide-ranging chat touches on using the correct words for female anatomy in schools, how we set realistic expectations for birth, and how reconnecting with your body through periods, birth and the menopause is truly empowering.Emma Armstrong is a mother, a birth coach and a talented illustrator. Her new book, The Fearless Birth Book, can be found on her website www.thenakeddoula.comYou can share your views and experiences of censorship of women's bodies on social media as part of the CensHERship campaign here - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSef_zhCZBkjLfIr46XkedZ2vSu6JtF5I_XVl33Lm4yQdWNFVQ/viewformPlease subscribe, rate and review, so we can get this vital info to as many parents-to-be as we can!______________________This episode is sponsored byiCandyVisit https://discover.icandyworld.com/birth-ed to shop my favourite pushchairs!Follow iCandy on IG and/or TikTok for helpful advice and ‘hints & tips' too!https://www.tiktok.com/@icandyworldhttps://www.instagram.com/icandyworlduk/The Bump Plan - visit thebumpplan.com/birthed-pregnancy to access:Free 45 minute Pregnancy WorkoutFree Online Active Pregnancy MasterclassAn exclusive 20% discount code to join The Bump Plan PregnancyPREGNANCY PLAN: Offers personalised prenatal workouts, uniquely filmed during Hollie Grant's own pregnancy. Continuous Foetal Monitoring can be uncomfortable, anxiety-inducing or misleading, but there's plenty of evidence for its use, right? That's the question Dr. Kirsten Small set out to answer after her long career in obstetrics. Her research led her to question everything about trace monitoring, from the case for low and high risk differentials to how centralised monitoring changes care in the birth room.In this episode, I'm speaking to Kirsten about her findings, and how you can make an informed choice about whether to use CTG monitoring during your birth.Kirsten Small is a retired specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, working as an educator, writer, and researcher. Her vision is to promote and protect respectful maternity care for women, babies, families, and their care providers through education and research. She is a feminist and is critical of the patriarchal values embedded within healthcare systems, and particularly within obstetrics and gynaecology. Kirsten is mother to two lovely grown up people. When she's not writing or teaching, she's probably reading, sewing, gardening, or cooking. There's no question that our next generation are facing unique challenges in modern day culture and society today. As it relates to our young adults, a plethora of research has revealed that one of the biggest challenges they face on a daily basis is loneliness. As we always like to remind people of here on the podcast is that loneliness is unfortunately the invisible illness of our day and age and it's the undiagnosed illnesses that are always the most dangerous and deadly. That being said, we have to help educate, equip, and empower our next generation as to how they can find their hope, purpose, and identity rooted and anchored in Christ while also leaning into the gift of community. Joining us today to do just that is a dear friend and the Young Adult Pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA, Steven Thomas. Steven has been entrusted with a powerful voice to invest and speak into the lives of countless young adults over the years. He is a man who truly encompasses what it means to love God and love people! We pray that this conversation would be life-giving in reminding you that we together we can impact and influence this next generation!Hear More about Steven's testimony: https://watch.trbc.org/media/t/1_wobnfset/116662911 Learn More about TRYA: https://trbc.org/engage/adults/young/ TRBC's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ThomasRoadChurch
What was it like to be a first responder at the World Trade Center following the events of 9/11? Most of us remember where we were when we first heard about the planes crashing into those buildings, but we may not know the stories of the men and women who rushed in to help. My guest today is one of the men who responded to rescue the survivors trapped under those collapsed buildings. Dusty Shellhammer is a lifelong first responder and was a member of the National Crisis Response team called into action on 9/11. This incredible story reminds us of the courage, dedication, and unity of all who stepped up to help during one of our nations greatest tragedies. Pastor Andy Cass Peek-A-Boo, 'Something Hidden, Something Revealed,' is where we'll be exploring the true image and character of Jesus. Through engaging messages and interactive discussions, we'll delve into the significance of who Jesus says he is. TEXT: Genesis 1:1-3; John 1:4-9; John 8:12; Deuteronomy 17:4-7;John 12: 35 NOTES: "Jesus declaring himself the light of the world would have elicited a strong reaction. His statement would have reverberated through Jewish history, resonating from the creation narrative to the deliverance of the Israelites, from the celebration of Sukkot to the poetic verses of Psalms and Proverbs, and echoing the prophetic declarations of Isaiah, Hosea, and Zechariah. In a single utterance, Jesus would have unleashed a tidal wave of meaning and realization, signifying him as the light for all peoples." - Pastor Andy Cass -Jesus is the true perspective and our new perception BIG IDEA: Our New prescription: Apply light to our souls daily, Once healing progresses, let your light shine into the world as a beacon, and not a weapon. Simply put: Light in verse Light Out The Practice: Jesus as our perspective and perception 1. I need the Holy Spirit 2. I need a Higher Standard 3. I need to Hear More and Speak less
