Heather Buckley is a grand maester of film and horror. The first feature she produced, Jenn Wexler’s The Ranger, for Glass Eye Pix and Hood River Entertainment, premiered at SXSW and played numerous festivals on an international run before it was released in NYC and LA. Heather’s work as a film analyst and journalist spans over a decade, with bylines in Vulture, Dread Central, and Fangoria. Her background in SFX work includes: Circus of the Dead, Dead Still, and We Are Still Here. She is currently a Blu-Ray special features producer, creating documentaries for Kino Lorber, Lionsgate/Vestron, Arrow Films and Shout Factory releases, including John Carpenter's The Thing, Barton Fink, The Long Riders, Saw 10th Anniversary Reissue, and Army of Darkness. The movie that Heather chose this week is a real doozy - Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Heather talks about how she believes it's one of the most important films ever made. She discusses how this film forces the audience to root for violence. She elaborates on the fact that this movie has no moral center, and how it's the audience's job to gauge morality. And she and April also discuss the controversy this film sparked upon release and why the movie was initially difficult to get a hold of. You can see Heather's work all over the place. Plus, you can watch The Ranger on Shudder. And if you haven't seen Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer yet, be careful. With April Wolfe and Heather Buckley. In October of 2017, we had the pleasure of screening our last feature film, Theta States, at the Shawna Shea Film Festival. While there, we met UK Writer/Producers Matthew Davies and Lee Wignall of Ash Mountain Films, who were there premiering their first feature, the incredible folk-horror film Dogged. Since then, we’ve become pretty close with them and in December, Matthew happened to be in NYC, so we sat down with him to discuss the writing, crowdfunding, production, and release of Dogged, as well as their second feature, the home-invasion flick Nefarious. Ash Mountain Films successfully crowdfunded both features, and Matthew walks us through their process of hard work, dedication, and (occasionally) sheer blind luck, to get to completion. Set stories from the fun, the scary, the nightmarish, and the struggle to finish both films. Watcha! Episode 31 sees Liam at The Royal George Pub in Soho talking to director; Jenn Wexler, producer; Heather Buckley and for a short amount of time actor; Chloe Levine. Together they created the award-winning new horror movie - The Ranger. This interview was recorded during the height of London's FrightFest where Jenn was the first female director to open the festival with the film. Having been brought up on punk herself, Jenn's passion for the genre pours out of the movie with a soundtrack that features bands like The Atom Age; The Authorities; Black Lungs; The Avengers; DayGlo Abortions and FANG. Producer, Heather's love for punk is apparent from her first breath in this interview (in a past life Heather was a Fangoria contributor). If punk and horror is your thing, this episode could become your favourite. So what can you expect from this natter? Of course, we talk about the movie as well as the killer punk soundtrack... and reveal what horror movies scared the living bejeezus out of us as a kids as well as what scares us now. Jenn and Heather talk punk and discovery of the sound, and Chloe explains how discovering punk for the first time (having not listened to or experienced a punk show before the movie) has led her to take on the punk-rock attitude into her real life. As well as all that we talk about the need for more women to be seen to be creating movies, the closure of venues and Liam asks "if being dubbed a B-Movie is like being labelled a pop-punk artist?" You can watch the trailer here. If you are based in the US, you can rent and stream the movie via RedBox the rest of us can pick it up on Blu-ray/DVD on Amazon and it will be made available soon on the horror streaming service, Shudder, soon. Playing out the show this week are The Lurchers, they're from Denver, Colorado, where it's always 420. And their track My Own Eyes will be sending you home happy. Holy shit! Double digits. So what, I hear you cry, can we expect from this milestone episode? Well, it's time for something completely different as Episode 10 sees Andy and Mitch joined by Heather Buckley, producer of Frightfest 2018 opening film, Jenn Wexler's The Ranger! Her chosen film? The Ninth Configuration! Considered by some to be the "true" sequel to The Exorcist and from the mind of the very same man whose pen crafted that particular tale, 1980's The Ninth Configuration is a unique, unforgettable and thought-provoking meditation on sacrifice, faith and the nature of "good". The synopsis is as follows, Army psychiatrist Colonel Kane is posted to a secluded Gothic castle housing a military asylum. With a reserved calm he indulges the inmates' delusions, allowing them free rein to express their fantasies. But some are wary of the newcomer and his methods. There may be more to Kane than meets the eye and the insanity escalates towards an explosive revelation. Leatherface: TCM III with film journalist/producer Heather Buckley This week on Scream Addicts, Jinx welcomes Heather Buckley to the show! A film journalist, award-winning FX shop supervisor, and Rondo Award-winning producer (whose latest film The Ranger is currently in post-production), Ms. Buckley has chosen Jeff Burr’s 1990 horror sequel Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III for discussion this week. With its splatterpunk aesthetic and troubled history with the MPAA, Leatherface kicks off a conversation which covers the passing of Texas Chainsaw creator Tobe Hooper, part III director Jeff Burr’s career, and the dodgy continuity which ties the franchise together. Along the way, we discuss the legendary “Excalibur” teaser trailer, how super-hot Leatherface is (!!!), and why the world needs a punk rock Leatherface. It’s a fun chat with an awesome guest, and it’s one we hope you enjoy! Make sure to scream at us on Facebook and Twitter. We are: @_HeatherBuckley @ScreamAddicts @Jinx1981

Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, The Neon Demon) presents the story of a thrill seeking adult movie filmmaker, played by Keanu Reeves, who is looking for the ultimate in extreme sex to document, told through the eyes of his trusted camera man as portrayed by Mickey Rourke. When sent on assignment by sleezy producer Scott Bakula - Keanu and Mickey find themselves immersed into a world of dark and mysterious cults that are linked to ancient rituals with dangerous consequences. Also starring Elle Fanning as a sacrificial ingenue and adult film star Stoya as a seductress, we offer to you "LEY LINES."
