It was a new era in Washington D.C. and the United States of America. Finally, the great gash in modern American history, The Vietnam War and the Watergate Crisis, was in the rearview mirror. It was all symbolized by a new American President from Georgia, who had risen out of seemingly nowhere to be elected President. He represented a refreshing change, with a big toothy smile, and Baptist Minister like promise that he would never lie to the American People, a peanut farmer ushered in an outsider tenure, and rested away the reigns of power from the Washington insiders many saw as having nearly driven the country off a cliff. Now Jimmy Carter would address the nation and do something we had not seen since the days of Thomas Jefferson in the Presidency. He got out of the limousine and walked the full length of Pennsylvania Avenue. It was as shocking in the moment as it was refreshing for the American People to see for themselves a new President, a President who was one of us. In this episode we let you relive the Inauguration of Jimmy Carter, his full address, and a good chunk of his walk down Pennsylvania Avenue as though you were right there watching it as it happened. President Carter ran out his final year in office from the confines of the Oval Office as he worked night and day to free the hostages in Iran. After 444 days, they were released on the day his successor was inaugurated. It was a bittersweet and undeserving end for an all-too-brief tenure. On the heels of multiple domestic and foreign policy successes, the Carter Administration headed into 1979 brimming with hope and optimism. And the American people were mostly supportive of their humble president who helped return some dignity and sanity to the Oval Office. In Part One of our series, we discussed the persistent attempts on the right to draw parallels between the Carter and Biden administrations. We looked at the rise of James Earl Carter from humble beginnings on a farm, to the Naval Academy and into the governor's office in Georgia. Each step of his early journey offers insight into the development of his worldview and governing style. In Part Two, we do a deep dive into the first half of the White House years to understand the challenges that faced the new administration, some significant early legislative wins and the undercurrent of trouble brewing on the horizon. Today we begin our look back at the brief but remarkable tenure of President Jimmy Carter. The late 70s is a fascinating period on a number of levels. Civil Rights groups had fractured into several pieces, the Vietnam era had come to a disgraceful close and the economy was beginning to falter after more than two decades of astounding post-war growth for the middle class in particular. The GOP's grip on Washington was tenuous after Nixon's resignation and the country wasn't sure whether Ford was up to the task. For their part, Democrats were still healing from the ‘68 Convention and being sidelined by Nixon's GOP. Out of the fog came a slow talking southern boy named Jimmy who shocked the world and secured the Democratic nomination for president. This is his origin story. -- If you like #UNFTR, please leave us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts: unftr.com/rate and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram at @UNFTRpod. A perennial subject within the whole area of the relationship between love and sex is working out whether they are one and the same thing or completely separate categories. It could be argued, indeed often is, that love itself is merely a delusion engendered by the human brain to make procreation and child rearing bearable. In this interview with James Earl we discuss whether there is any merit in trying to separate love from sex. This is a public episode. In our Fruit of the Spirit Series, Pastor Cray brings a message of KINDNESS. James Earl Cray, a gifted, former college football athlete, and NFL prospect. This athletically gifted, former Troy State Wide Receiver successfully navigated his way through troubled times and a seven-year journey to find his true calling. He grew up in Southeast Georgia, where he was introduced to Apostolic Pentecostal beliefs. As a child, he was never short on confidence. He recalls moments when he would boldly dance in front of large church congregations; never being too bashful to show his love for God and the church. As he entered college at Troy State University in Alabama, like many young athletes, he was hit head-on with some very challenging moments. He experienced off-the-field trouble and dealt with attitude problems. But, throughout all this, he constantly remained faithful and trusted in God. In 2005, at the age of twenty-two, he spoke at what he considered to be his first sermon. The sermon was held at First Missionary Baptist Church, in Troy, AL. James recalls having so many thoughts and feelings running through his mind. He was excited, nervous, but overall, he was prepared to give the sermon. From that moment he knew that his life would never be the same and that God's purpose for him was far greater than he or anyone had ever imagined. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/chefranjohn/support

We have contracts for a reason. They set out the rules and expectations for us all to operate in a sponsorship for the good of all and they are set out with all the right intentions – to do good work but also to protect ourselves. What happens, however, when we get blindsided and things change so quickly, through no fault of any of the contracted parties? Sure, we know that the contracts all have force majeure clauses but how does that reconcile with our often-spruiked approach that sponsorships should be a true relationship? Also, how does that reconcile with sponsors, as a collective group, who would want the sport and entertainment industry to return to normal as quickly as possible so that they can activate sponsorships and reach their target audiences? Surely there is a vested interest in working things through? Yet, how does that happen when so many businesses are directly threatened and are dealing with an ever-changing landscape and one where there is no certainty about what the other side looks like? Will in-progress seasons be completed or abandoned? Will one-off events be shifted or simply cancelled? Who knows? Some see it is an amazing opportunity for rights holders and brands to collaborate on innovation (but that innovation still has to be executed within the contract). To help work through all of the big issues, James Earl, Partner and Head of Sport Business Group at Fladgate LLP, in London, joins us on the show to answer lots of questions about how we should all be navigating through this legal space right now. James is regarded as one of the leading experts in the international sports sector because, with over a decade of experience, he has truly unique expertise working with a broad range of national and international governing bodies, funders, teams, clubs, and investors in sport. James is exceptionally well-connected and his pragmatic guidance is consistently sought by senior stakeholders across the international sports industry. James’ deep level of experience in sport comes from working with Manchester City Football Club, the London 2012 Olympics, 2015 Rugby World Cup and also acting as sole legal adviser to the delivery vehicles for the London 2017 World Athletics and ParaAthletic Championships. Also joining us on the show is Mark Thompson, KORE Software’s former Head of International Business, who discusses his latest blog about how, in this very tough time for our industry, it is important for us all to be supporting each other in sponsorship to navigate these unknown times. Enjoy.

Ever wondered how wild turkey populations became available in your neck of the woods? You may need to take a moment and thank this week's guest, James Earl Kennamar. This gentleman was at the helm of conservation and re-stocking efforts with his long term position at NWTF. James Earl was the spearhead of re-stocking and expanding the turkey population beyond the native range. During the podcast, we discuss the process and challenges James Earl faced throughout his career. Much of this can be boiled down to the lack of solid research as well as common misunderstandings of wild turkey ecology among the general public. Sit back and listen to the wonderful stories of growth and expansion of the wild turkey. James Earl is a conservationist and land manager at heart. He is welcome on this podcast anytime to discuss the usage and benefits of prescribed fire, logging, TSI, and early successional habitat. We hope you enjoy this spring turkey season, but be sure to thank James Earl as that gobbler closes the distance. Enjoy.Learn.Share! Land & Legacy is Powered by Simplecast

The German army considered Pointe du Hoc a perfect spot for defending the coast of France from Allied forces during WWII. The Germans placed six cannons on the point and thought the position secure. And it was—until June 1944, when Texan James Earl Rudder was ordered to take the point with his 2nd Ranger Battalion.
