John Charles in conversation with Marjorie McCown and Jon Lindstrom
Welcome back to the podcast, I'm Jamie Baynes. Today's guest is actor and bestselling author, Jon Lindstrom. As you'll soon learn, Jon caught the acting bug when he woke up in the middle of a James Bond film and saw two guys on the screen, fighting to the death. With that goal in mind, he set a course for Hollywood and all the hard work and frustrations associated with the actor's life. Apparently feature films, various television shows, a regular stint on General Hospital and Port Charles and recording audiobooks weren't enough for him, so he decided to write a USA Today bestselling novel as well. With all of that going on, and fighting a cold, he graciously agreed to come on a small podcast from a guy that he's never heard of. Incredible. After you listen to it, let me know what you think about Jon. It's easy to get a picture in your head of how you think a famous person is going to be. How they're going to talk. How they're going to interact with everyday people. How, how, how. I had no idea going into this interview how down to earth Jon was going to be. Talking to him was like taking to someone you'd meet in a coffeehouse, or bookstore or record shop. Just such a great guy and I truly enjoyed our conversation. Make sure that you check out his new novel, Hollywood Hustle and let's hope he's got more on the way. Here's a link to his website:https://www.jonlindstrom.com/actorI want to thank Jon for taking the time to talk to me and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to listen. We're all in this together and together, we can make this world a better place. Until next time, take care of one another and thanks again for listening.

In this 167th episode of The Thriller Zone, host Dave Temple interviews John Lindstrom, a movie & television star turned debut author.Lindstrom discusses his journey from acting to writing, including his experience writing screenplays and the lessons he learned about storytelling. He also shares the challenges he faced in writing his first book and the importance of authenticity in storytelling. As we get going, Lindstrom reflects on his career in soap operas and the attrition rate in Hollywood, and discusses his wife's involvement in theater and the impact and evolution of indie films. The conversation concludes with a discussion on the dark side of Hollywood and the cautionary tale in Lindstrom's book, 'Hollywood Hustle,' a book that reflects, in part, some of his experiences in the entertainment industry. In this engaging conversation, Jon shares his passion for supporting orphanages and helping foster kids tell their stories through film. Dave and Jon also discuss the contrasting characters in his book and the dark side of Hollywood. Perhaps most of the fun involves an "acting conversation" which has the two personalities reading from the book, playing two characters. And sure, there are potential film adaptations and casting choices, but that remains to be seen. As we close, Lindstrom shares his writing process and the therapeutic nature of writing, and as always, Dave concludes the show with much-loved "Rapid-Fire Questions." It's fun for everyone. A fantastic episode of BEHIND THE LENS that's jam-packed with two talented filmmakers, MICHAEL OBLOWITZ and BENJAMIN POLLACK – both who have a music video background – and actor JON LINDSTROM who many of the "General Hospital" fans out there will recognize, as we talk about CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT and WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO JONNY FAITH. Right out of the gate, writer/director MICHAEL OBLOWITZ and actor JON LINDSTROM join us discussing their new film CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT. A well-paced slow-burn noir police thriller with a twist, CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT boasts an exceptional cast (along with Lindstrom, there's Mel Gibson, Nick Stahl, Dominic Purcell, and Kate Bosworth) and an interesting story POV that we rarely, if ever, see onscreen. We get into all the ins and outs of the "making of" CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT including Michael's A-list cast, crafting and conveying authenticity and reality, the very specific color palette and production design and how that plays into the work of cinematographer Chris Squires, performances, and more, while Jon has some great insight for us on working with Michael, selecting projects, his approach to acting, informing his character, and, of course, what's up on "General Hospital"! Then it's a big welcome for writer/director/editor BENJAMIN POLLACK who also joins us live talking about his new dramatic short narrative film WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO JONNY FAITH. A "Must See" Festival Film at the upcoming LA Shorts Fest (the film screens July 20th), this one has got all the feels, plus a terrific cast, beautiful lensing, and strong production values.Energetic and passionate, Benjamin shares all about "the making of" as he discusses the genesis of the film, transitioning from music videos and documentary short films to a narrative film, the benefit of directing and editing (especially with a short film), bringing together a dynamite cast with musician/actor Frank Noon in the title role, Bruce Greenwood, Wayne Knight, Debbie Pollack, and a "cameo" appearance by famed guitarist Rusty Anderson. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
What is a common denominator between Harlan Marks, Amy Steel, Christopher Walken, Richard Dreyfuss, Sela Ward, and Chris Cooper? We all have been acting students of Harlan's Episode 11 guest, his real-life Kominsky, Bob McAndrew. Bob's teaching draws from a wide range of sources but primarily from the legendary Wynn Handman. A film acting coach, he has worked with directors John Huston, Alan Pakula, and Luc Besson. He's taught internationally - in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, and Buenos Aires. Here is a partial list of actors he's coached or taught - Raul Julia, Christopher Walken, Chris Cooper, Sela Ward, John Stamos, Gloria Reuben, David Paymer, Corbin Bernsen, Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot, and Jon Lindstrom. Harlan can personally attest that his techniques and coaching give actors the tools to explore, let go of tension and build a strong character, all of which allow actors to take risks and feel confident in those risk choices. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/harlan-marks/message
This inspirational story from Robert Bailey is heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting, showing us all that it is never too late to live a wonderful life. Four rounds. Four heroes. Four life-changing lessons. When Randy Clark wakes up on the morning of his 40th birthday, he knows exactly what he's going to do that day. He's going to go to work. He's going to eat the steak dinner his wife has prepared him. He'll blow out the candles on his chocolate birthday cake. And then he's going to kill himself. With his dreams of a professional golf career long gone, his marriage struggling after the death of his son, and facing financial ruin, Randy sees no other alternative to help his wife and daughter but to jump. To jump off a bridge, and to let the life insurance company do the rest. But Randy's plans go awry when the ghost of his best friend gives him a surreal gift: four rounds of golf with his four heroes, four chances to learn from the best. Four chances to change his fate. . .
THE ROAD TO MURDER IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS. A razor-sharp thriller with the southern setting of True Detective and Sharp Objects, this is a perfect read for fans of acclaimed US writers like James Lee Burke, Greg Iles, Don Winslow and Michael Connelly. When Detective P.T. Marsh and his partner Remy Morgan are asked to investigate the suspicious death of a local real-estate baron, it's easy for them to name a list of suspects: violent neighbours, a wronged ex-wife and an escort, all of whom have reasons to want the man dead. But as they dig into the case, it becomes clear the death was not an isolated case of revenge...and may be part of a dark web of crimes connected to the accident that killed P.T.'s wife and son a few years earlier. P.T. begins to veer dangerously off track as his search for clues brings him into a seedy criminal underworld where a man's good deeds turn out to be more dangerous than his worst crimes.
DARK MATTER INTRIGUING SCIENCE FICTION STORY NOVELDark Matter is an intriguing science fiction story. Author Blake Crouch and narrator, Jon Lindstrom, take us on a high-speed expedition through quantum physics and alternate lives, and one you will likely never forget. Dark Matter is an engaging story having to do with Quantum physics. I certainly cannot say I understand how the theories work, or if any of the theories are sound. But, I can say that some parts of the theories do tie in with things I have wondered about over the years. So, I decided to take a little quantum leap of my own when I downloaded and listened to the Dark Matter audiobook. Thus, I began my trip through the story of Jason Dessen’s quantum journey where he is nagged by the question that precipitated his strange quantum sojourn: “Are you happy with your life?” As the Dark Matter story begins, Jason is kidnapped at gun point and drugged. And the next thing Jason knows, he is on a quantum leap through his life where he encounters various versions of himself. For those of you like me, who have minimal knowledge in that area, but enjoy the idea of quantum leaps and what that might entail, Dark Matters might be just the ticket to imagine a quantum journey through various versions of your life…and what might have been. I loved Dark Matter. I was totally engrossed in Jason’s story. The audiobook was narrated by Jon Lindstrom, who I understand is a talented actor who has enjoyed quite a successful career in daytime television.Mr. Lindstrom has a smooth and pleasing voice with which he expertly portrays Jason Dessen, along with all the other characters in the story. I found Lindstrom’s narration of Dark Matter to be nothing less than superb. All in all, I found Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter to be an emotional, yet a fun, fast, and furious adventure through quantum physics. If you decide to read Dark Matter, and, if you would enjoy the feeling of being completely immersed in a story, I highly recommend listening to the audio version of Dark Matter. (RIGHT CLICK IMAGE TO SAVE EPISODE TO YOUR COMPUTER) In this Case File, John and Paul sit down and talk with actor Tom Schanley. To bionic fans, he played Michael Austin in The Return of The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, but there is so much more as John and Paul discover in this interview. We talk about his desire to be an actor and his family support, his first roles, and his Six Million Degrees of Star Trek Separation besides his obvious appearance on Enterprise. Comment on the episode here or write abionicpodcast@gmail.com It all started 30 miles north of Boston, in the quaint New England coastal town of Manchester, Mass. At a young age, despite a loving family, proper upbringing and a good education, Tom Schanley decided to become an actor ---- Three defibrillator charges later, his parents threw their support behind him and the journey began. That journey took him to school in New Hampshire, San Diego, England and finally the acting program at USC, where during his junior year, he landed his first professional role as Whit Champion, on the NBC drama series "The Yellow Rose." After college, Tom continued studying acting with some of the best in the business: Vince Chase, Stella Adler, Winn Handman, and Roy London, to name but a few. His body of work grew as well, including the television movie "The Alamo - Thirteen Days To Glory" with Alec Baldwin, the starring role in "The Return of the Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman," and stints on shows with shorter titles like "Fame," "Dynasty," "Melrose Place," and "Lonesome Dove." (He sang "country" on Fame, ladies). Feature films were also on the menu. Among them, "Fever Pitch," directed by the legendary Richard Brooks, "Red Rock West" (there's a story behind that one), "Courage Under Fire," directed by Ed Zwick, starring Denzel Washington and "Conspiracy Theory," starring Mel Gibson, among others. Tom continued to exercise his theater chops as well, with notable roles in the award winning "Getting Out," at the Cast Theatre, "The Wager," at the Colony Theatre and as Mark Antony in the critically acclaimed LA Shakespeare Festival production of "Julius Caesar." Tom also spent eight years with the comedy improve troop WITHOUT A NET. Then came the new millennium, and with it Tom's "multi-hyphenate" status. Alongside friend and actor Jon Lindstrom, Tom wrote and Executive-Produced the feature film "The Hard Easy," starring David Boreanaz, Vera Farmiga, Henry Thomas, Bruce Dern and Peter Weller. Their second script, "Head High" is currently the subject of a bidding war at two major studios - OK - "should" be the subject of a bidding war, or so they think. Tom has a number of solo projects in the pipeline as well. Among them, the un-romantic feature film comedy "Dating Tammy," and the TV pilot "Tee Time." "Saying" the lines however, is still Tom's first love and priority, and the past couple of years have offered plenty of that: "Dexter", "Criminal Minds", "Without a Trace", " The CSI'S", "The Forgotten"..... (and a really cool puppet show in Venice Beach). Tom happily resides beach-side, Santa Monica, CA. Stay tuned. Links Homepage Facebook page Twitter IMDB page
