With all the talk about Crimson Jack in Skeleton Crew we felt this was a perfect time to share another Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics episode! Issue #108 “Forever Crimson!” (2019), is a special continuation of Issue #50 “The Crimson Forever” (1981). This was part of Marvel's 80th Anniversary celebration in 2019 where they added this issue 33 years after the classic Star Wars series ended in 1986.    Richard and Sarah break down “Forever Crimson!” - it's story, artwork, and the HUGE amount of Star Wars EU Easter eggs! Jaxxon and Amaiza are back! Valance the Hunter and Domina Tagge make an appearance. This comic even references vornskr and the witches of Dathomir. Could there be more references to pop culture in this comic than SKELETON CREW?? Let's find out.   We recommend watching the video version (above) of this episode which contains the full comic as we page through it.   #108 “FOREVER CRIMSON"   Release Date: May 29, 2019 Writer: Matthew Rosenberg Artwork: Giuseppe Camuncoli, Andrea Broccardo, Kerry Gammill, Ze Carlos, Jan Duursema, Stefano Landini, Luke Ross, Cam Smith, Chris Sotomayer, and Leonard Kirk Cover Art:  Walt Simonson and Antonio Fabela   The cosmic civil war is over! The Empire has fallen. The tyrannical Dark Lords of the Sith who ruled the galaxy, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, are destroyed, and the heroic Rebel Alliance has restored freedom to the star systems with the formation of the New Republic.   But a long-forgotten threat, one more terrible than even the Sith, is still out there in the wilds of deep space, and its return could annihilate all life in the galaxy! Once again, only the freedom fighters Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo can hope to stand against the forces of evil. I bid you… welcome... to Creator Talks 2020 Halloween Special! My special guest is Kerry Gammill, perhaps best known for his illustration of Power Man and Iron Fist and Superman comics in the 1980s and 1990s.We start our conversion discussing the comic legends’ work he admired as a youth and the conversations he later had as an adult with Jack Kirby and John Buscema.Kerry reveals why he decided it was time to move on from comics and work as a special effects concept designer and storyboard artist for television and film.Learn which television project was Kerry’s favorite and why.Kerry is also a big fan of classic Universal Horror movies.  Growing up in Texas in the 1950s he would catch them on television and Saturday evenings watch his favorite local horror show Nightmare Theater hosted by Bill Camfield as Gorgon. We discuss why Kerry thought Gorgon was the one of best horror show hosts ever.Did you know Kerry has written and illustrated several horror works since leaving the world of monthly comics?Learn about his book with J. David Spurlock The Famous Monster Movie Art of Basil Gogos and why Basil did not want one of his illustrations included in the book.Kerry also took a stab his own comic series in the spirit of the now classic Creepy and Eerie black and white horror magazines titled Bela Lugosi’s Tales from the Grave, which ran four issues and is available on Comixology. His latest work is Bram Stoker’s Dracula Starring Bela Lugosi, which he served as art director and is illustrated by El Garing. Find out Kerry’s role as art director on Dracula then Kick Back With the Creator as I ask Kerry’s the fun questions I ask all my guests plus a few other surprises. Creator Talks Theme Song: "Jazz Relax" from LoopsLab Creator Talks logo by The Design PunkAudio Clips:Dracula (1931)Nightmare Theater (Late 1950s)Bride of Frankenstein (1935)Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)The Three Stooges Idle Roomers (1944) Please rate and review Creator Talks on Apple PodcastsAbout Bram Stoker’s Dracula Starring Bela LugosiAbout Kerry Gammill

Why the heck was one of the new Dawn of X titles called "Fallen Angels," you ask? Well, it turns out the name (and name only) is, apparently a reference to a New Mutants spin-off mini-series by Jo Duffy and Kerry Gammill from 1987. In this totally bonkers eight-issue miniseries, Sunspot (Bobby da Costa) runs away from his New Mutant teammates, with alien buddy Warlock in tow, and soon the two find themselves mixed up with a bizarre team of young, super-powered street criminals, led by a former X-Villain. Along for the ride are Multiple Man and Siryn, who are sent by Magneto and Moira MacTaggert to locate the wayward New Mutants, but soon also find themselves part of this new ragtag group. It's an absolutely wild series that highlights all that was great (and confusing) about comic books in the late '80s, and we're here to talk all about it. But first, we check in with how we're feeling about the initial wave of Dawn of X books now that the second wave is beginning to hit, and we also spend arguably a bit too much time talking about the filmographies of Kelsey Grammar and Tom Arnold. All this, and more, so give it a listen. facebook.com/daysoffuturepodcast Twitter & Instagram: @dofpodcast

Besides multiple pairings of Tigra with Ben Grimm and Peter Parker, she also faces Kraven the Hunter twice; joins Invisible Girl, Thundra, Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic for an extended adventure; loses her mentor Dr. Tumolo; and faces the return of Zabo from her comics debut as Greer Grant Nelson: The Cat! Talent on these stories includes Chris Claremont, John Byrne, George Pérez, Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway, Ron Wilson, Joe Sinnott, J.M. DeMatteis, Kerry Gammill, Len Wein, Sal Buscema, Bill Mantlo, Frank Robbins, Jim Shooter, Archie Goodwin, John Warner, Ed Hannigan, Mike Vosburg & Ernie Chan! That kind of spread requires a episode tumblr gallery! We even managed to work Superman & Big Barda in (and out again!) That’s a lot of comics to bring in at under 90 minutes! This past Saturday, Derek attended the Dallas Comic Con, which was held at the Irving Convention Center, and ran from May 17-19. There, he spoke with a variety of creators and publishers, asking them about their comics and encouraging them to share with The Comics Alternative listeners their various projects, both recent and future. This was a heavily celebrity-ladened con — William Shatner and Brent Spiner were there, Nathan Fillion was supposed to be there (but didn't make it), and Derek's daughter, Zoe, was completely mesmerized by Adam Baldwin, who actually signed her homemade Jayne hat — and that part was fun. But Derek focused mostly on getting to the comics folk themselves. In his peregrinations around the convention floor, he was able to speak with Robert Wilson IV (artist of Knuckleheads), Jackie Cannon and Erik Reeves (writer and artist of Hoodratz in Space), creator Terry Moore (of Strangers in Paradise and Rachel Rising fame), Hunter S. Zombie (writer of Stillborn), Scott Chitwood (publisher of Red 5 Comics), Danny Allain and Paul Soileau (creator and publisher of Dead Reckoning), Dave Johnson (illustrator and cover artist for 100 Bullets), Amanda Conner (covers for My Little Pony and artist and co-writer of Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre), Kerry Gammill (publisher and editor-in-chief of Monsterverse Entertainment), and Steve Erwin (illustrator of the upcoming graphic novel version of Robert A. Heinlein's Citizen of the Galaxy). It was a lot of fun all around — the artists, the celebrities, the cosplay, the weirdness — and in this Point One episode, Derek shares with you his talk with several fascinating individuals. Listen and enjoy, won't you?
