As an athlete (or gym goer), rehab is either something you have done or you will inevitably encounter in some form or fashion or degree in your life.Injuries happen - big and small, short and long, insignificant and lifechanging. No matter the situation, if you get a setback then you will have to rehab in some way.I have personally worked with several clients who are going through injury or coming back from one, and I help them navigate the nutrition equation so that we set them up for the best return and success. So is nutrition truly important during rehab? What are the implications of just coasting through it and not adjusting your program? In this episode, we explore rehab and nutrition - the relationship and whether or not your diet requires strategic thinking during your “bounce back” era. DISCLAIMER: The information in this video is for guidance only and is not individualized advice for you! Your unique situation needs to be taken into consideration and adjusting your dietary intake.____________________________________________DOWNLOAD MY FREE MACRO NUTRITION CHEATSHEET Your Guide To Improving Your Macros & Making Meal Prep Easierhttps://theclimbingdietitian.lpages.co/macro-cheatsheet-the-climbing-dietitian/Apply for Bespoke 1:1 Macro Sherpa Nutrition Coaching Program: https://bit.ly/395QmGsCheck out and SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/2Mxqs4WEmail me: aleksa@theclimbingdietitian.com.auTo find me on socials:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theclimbingingdietitianTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theclimbingdietitianFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/theclimbingdietitianTwitter: https://twitter.com/beardyAPDLink to blog: https://bit.ly/330ULq4Check out my website for more information on me and what I do:https://www.theclimbingdietitian.com.au

This is where I believe embracing vulnerability can shine. Cue in the work I have discovered by Dr. Brené Brown, world renowned author and Ted speaker on "The Power of Vulnerability". In this solo episode I present a bigger and better offer (BBO) to mental toughness after injury for athletes to embody, inspired by the very relevant work of Dr. Brown. In this episode, I speak with Dr. David Meyer PT, DPT. Author of “Injured to Elite: A Guide to Empowering Yourself to Transform Your Life After Injury”, which he wrote to empower the world with a newfound mental approach to physical rehab. As a Sports Performance Physical Therapist, he graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from NYU and completed an advanced sports residency training program. David served as the Medical and Rehabilitation Coordinator for the St. Louis Cardinals for three years from 2015 through the 2017 season. This was a dream of his that came to fruition after playing baseball throughout his entire life into the collegiate level. During his time working for the Cardinals, he discovered a new appreciation for the psychological implications of sports rehabilitation after seeing the profound impact it had on players and began developing a comprehensive approach to integrating mental skills and strategies into the physical rehabilitation process. I have to say, of all of my talks thus far with this podcast, this might have been one of the most natural discussions I've had. Those who have followed me for some time now know how fascinated I am with mental component to rehabilitative care, so natural David was the perfect guest. David and I seamlessly discuss topics such as: 4 Major mental states (Identity Crisis) that occur after injuries in patients. Practical advice to use with your patients to improve compliance, and communication. Direction of Physical Therapy; where we're headed in the coming years. Pros & Cons to the Clinic/Telehealth models: how do these apply to sports rehab? 3 Mental Exercises that you can begin using TODAY as a clinician to reduce fear, and anxiety in not only your patients, but yourself. and much more. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-halo-effect-podcast/support

What's up everybody, welcome to this week's episode of Health & Fitness Friday on The Essential Strength Podcast. This is your 5 minute download of some health and fitness knowledge meant to make you a little bit smarter and a little bit stronger as you head into the weekend!Last week, we started the conversation about corrective exercise, some of it's limitations, and I gave you my thoughts on whether or not it's still useful. Today, we're going to continue that conversation with the number one, most important consideration and caveat for using corrective exercises that will enhance pt and client outcomes.Just like last week, this conversation is framed by a recent article from Barbell Rehab which can be found on the reading list at StrongerInMotion.com. Long story short - Words Matter. Language Matters. If you, as a coach or clinician, feel that you need to break a person down and show them all the areas where they are broken, so that you can then sell your services as the “fix” - you're creating more problems then you are solving. If, however, you can prop up your clients and patients, show them all the ways in which they are strong and robust AND help them address specific dimensions of their physical capacity that are not yet optimal - then you are truly using corrective exercise in its more power and empowering form. That's it for this week on Health & Fitness Friday - tune in next week as we dive into an entirely new topic!Appreciate each and every one of you! Catch ya'll next week!
