Voices of Leadership: Insights and Inspirations from Women Leaders
Have you ever punched someone in the face? Not out of anger. Not in self-defense. But because, for one night, you chose to step into the ring? Most people would never willingly put themselves in that position. But Beth isn't most people. As a leader in the mining industry, Founder and CEO of Femina Collective, and co-host of The ReBuild Podcast, Beth has spent her career making space for women in industries that weren't built for them. She's created networks, fostered mentorship, and pushed for change where change is slow to come.So what does boxing have to do with leadership? Everything.Stepping into the ring is about more than just boxing—it's about resilience, strategy, and knowing how to take a hit. It's about learning when to pivot, when to stand your ground, and how to keep moving forward even when every instinct tells you to back down. It's not so different from stepping into a boardroom or an industry that wasn't made for you. The stakes are different, the bruises may not always be visible, but the lessons? They're the same.In just a couple of weeks, Beth will be on the Fight Card for Mandy Bujold's Brawl at Tapestry Hall. A real, 12-week journey culminating in a live fight to support McMaster Children's Hospital. The goal? Raise $500,000 for children in need of critical care. Leadership is one of those words that gets thrown around like authenticity or value. Everyone nods. Few translate. This week, we sat down with Masi Willis, Founder of The Mason Effect. She caught up with us between her work travels, helping individuals and businesses better communicate to understand each other. What changes when that happens? Everything. Here's what I learned from Masi—and you can too: The Sherpa Principle Leaders don't climb alone. They guide others up the mountain while ensuring everyone arrives healthy. The summit isn't the goal—getting there together is. The Platinum Rule Forget the Golden Rule. Leadership that transforms follows the Platinum Rule: Do unto others as they would want done to themselves. Most leadership fails at this first turn—understanding both the mirror and the window. The Support-Challenge Matrix Four leadership types emerge: •Protectors → Create comfortable mediocrity. •Dominators → Create fear, not performance. •Abdicators → Create organizational zombies. •Liberators → Create growth worth having. Great leaders aren't gardeners who treat every plant the same. They calibrate the sunlight and water each person needs. The Voice Mismatch The fundamental disconnect: Organizations hire the 16% (pioneers/creatives) to lead the 73% (nurturers/guardians) without creating a shared language. It's like expecting someone to follow directions in German when they speak Japanese. The Authenticity Trap Your natural leadership voice emerged before the world told you what you ought to be. Burnout isn't from working too hard—it's from working against your wiring. Follow Masi Willis:

Yet, the word itself can be unsettling. Some embrace it. Some resist it. Some don't even know where to begin. And often, shame becomes the biggest barrier of all.But what if we flipped the script? Most of the challenges that business owners have, including practice owners, relate to people. If we can improve how we communicate, if we can improve how we relate with one another, we're going to improve trust. And when we improve trust, we create engagement, productivity, and a whole heap of good culture. In this episode of The Savvy Dentist Podcast, Dr. Jesse Green chats with Jeremie Kubicek, Co-Founder of GiANT, and a powerful communicator, serial entrepreneur and content builder. Jeremie creates content used by some of the largest companies around the globe found in the books he has authored: The 100X Leader, 5 Voices, 5 Gears, Making Your Leadership Come Alive, The Peace Index, and his brand new book just released in November of 2023, The Communication Code. Jeremie is the Co-Founder of GiANT, a company that certifies coaches and consultants that serve companies and their employees. Jeremie has started over 25 companies while living in Oklahoma City, Moscow, Atlanta and London. [2:45] - Jeremie explains why personality style self-report questionnaires help indicate differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions, and how he cracked the code to create an easier model that is more user friendly, applicable in the workplace, and memorable. [5:42] - 5 Voices is a simple key that unlocks complicated relational dynamics and improves the health and alignment of all your relationships. All five leadership voices come with their own particular sets of strengths, and all have areas for growth. Understanding both sides of the equation is the key to taking your leadership to the next level and is the secret to increasing your ability to influence your team, family, and friends. [10:06] - Why the Sherpa on Mount Everest is the greatest example of a leader [17:21] - Understanding your team's personality characteristics can improve communication so that everyone feels heard, seen and respected … and it will create relational trust. [23:05] - How you can grow in your relational intelligence and increase your influence. Jeremie explains 5 mindsets that carry you through various facets of your day. These include: First gear - when you fully rest and recharge Second gear - when you connect with family or friends without the involvement of work Third gear - when you are socialising Fourth gear - when you are working and multi-tasking Fifth gear - when you are fully focused and 'in the zone, ' working without interruption [30:01] - Healthy communication is essential in any professional or personal relationship. When the lines of communication are frayed or broken, the resulting drama, unnecessary conflict, and inefficiency often lead to 'dropping the ball'. Better communication yields better results. It's a no-brainer―honest conversations build deeper, more productive relationships. It may seem simple in theory, but healthy communication is one of the most challenging things to master in practice. That's why Jeremie wrote his most recent book - The Communication Code: Unlocking Every Relationship, One Conversation at a Time

Quote #1 "I was actually commissioned by Reid Hoffman and Constantin Gurley to write LinkedIn's first book. So we were the publishers of LinkedIn's first book. So I'm familiar with it, with what it's doing, where it's going, the acquisition, all that, and For a long time I've been thinking about writing a LinkedIn newsletter, and I just executed the launch very recently." Quote #2 "Topic. Super cool. It's called Staying Relevant. My primary focus is on credibility. And so, you know, it, I don't use the word credibility in there, but it's credibly staying relevant. So what do you have to do today in, in the pivot point we are in, in the world, and I was under the impression, uh, or I set the goals for myself and, uh, and that. I'd be happy if I got a hundred subscribers. Right? And so, you know, I was gonna do it Wednesday morning and I said, oh no, let's wait. And I did it Thursday morning and, and about an hour into it, I had 200 subscribers and I'm like, oh, maybe I should change my expectations. So we ended up getting, uh, over a thousand on day one. A week later we're close to 2000, and I just. Shared my next article. And what's nice, James, what's nice about this is my big focus in life is on credibility and for us as humans, to live life more credible and as corporations to instill an idea of credibility and culture of it inside the company." Quote #3 "Before Mark Andreessen put Mosaic on top of the internet and all of a sudden we started seeing it and, and when 50 million users in the US first started using the internet, oh my god, it's real. So what I'm gonna say is chat. GPT is the mosaic of ai, right? Chat, GPT allowed us to see what AI can do. It's possible that chat, GPT will have the same fate as Mosaic, right? Companies still out there made good deals, but it's not the big brand. Open AI may produce other things that, produce value. The point is, though, for us who are listening to this right now, tomorrow's gonna be different than today. And how can you stay relevant? And, that's basically the, the topic I'm personally exploring as we all should, for the clients I work with." Whether they know it or not, everyone has a leadership voice. However, most people don't know their leadership voice or how to use it. Some don't know what it is, others are insecure in their voice and have been told it is unimportant, and others immaturely overuse their voice and dominate the airwaves.
