Transformative Leadership Conversations with Winnie da Silva
What if the reason you're not earning what you're worth has nothing to do with your skills — and everything to do with the stories you believe about money? Are you showing up like someone who knows their value… or playing it small to keep the peace? Let's be real — money is messy. It brings up all kinds of emotions, expectations, and unspoken rules. In this solo episode, I'm sharing something personal: my own journey around money, self-worth, and what it's taken for me to finally feel comfortable asking for what I deserve. This episode kicks off a new theme we're exploring this month: Leadership & Money Mindset. If you've ever hesitated to ask for a raise, felt weird quoting your rates, or second-guessed your worth, this one's for you. I'm talking through the mindset shifts I had to make (and am still making!) to move from discomfort and doubt to clarity and confidence — and how you can do the same. You'll hear me discuss:What happens when you don't value yourself. I used to feel weird asking to be paid — like it somehow made me less sincere. But I've learned that when I don't own my value, other people don't either. That had to change. The early money messages that shaped me. I grew up in the Midwest, where the rule was: don't make anyone uncomfortable — especially with money talk. That silence stuck with me for years. Maybe you can relate?A simple framework that helps uncover limiting beliefs. I share the Story → Behavior → Result model I use with clients to break down what's really driving your actions — and how to shift it.Three powerful client stories — Annie, Eleanor, and Zoe. These are women who faced real turning points in their careers — promotions, negotiations, job changes — and had to totally reframe how they saw their own value. Their courage might give you the nudge you need. The bigger forces that make this harder, especially for women. We'll touch on why this issue isn't just personal — it's also systemic. From unpaid labor to leadership stereotypes, there's a lot working under the surface.A surprisingly fun tool to explore your money mindset. I'll introduce you to the Money Type Personality Assessment (yep, it's free!) and share what I learned about myself as a “Visionary” with a close second of “Nurturer.”Five big takeaways to help you shift your mindset now. These are practical, real-world ideas you can apply — whether you're pricing a project, negotiating a role, or simply trying to stop shrinking yourself at work.ResourcesMoney Type Personality TestWinnie da Silva on LinkedIn | On the Web | Substack | Email - winnie@winnifred.org

Darren Earlywine delves into the first of four core questions: "Who am I?" He explores the importance of understanding one's identity and vocational voice to live purposefully. Darren discusses the concept of being created on purpose and for a purpose, and examines five key vocational voices: pioneers, creatives, connectors, nurturers, and guardians. He emphasizes the impact of knowing one's true voice and the dangers of impersonating an identity that isn't authentic. Through insights from guests like Desmond Tutu and Casey Musgraves, listeners are encouraged to find clarity in their life's calling. Key Takeaways: Understanding your vocational voice is crucial to living a purposeful and authentic life. The concept of being created "on purpose and for purpose" highlights the importance of individual uniqueness. There are five vocational voices: Pioneer, Creative, Connector, Nurturer, and Guardian, each contributing uniquely to the world. Recognizing and valuing all voices is essential for building effective teams and communities. Avoid living a "bad impersonation" of yourself by aligning with your true vocational identity. Quotes: "If you don't know your vocational voice, you might be doing a bad impersonation of yourself." "You are someone who was created on purpose and for purpose." "In the beginning, God created. He started it all." "A vocation is not something you try; it's someone you become." "We are created to create and design, to design." He discussed his childhood, which he described as largely positive, and how it influenced his adult life. The conversation ended positively, with Michael appreciating the safe space created for open discussions. Kat's Journey of Self-Discovery and Healing Kat shared her journey of self-discovery and healing. She described how she initially suppressed her emotions and struggles after a problematic relationship, only to realize later she was suffering from PTSD and anxiety. Kat then discussed how she started building boundaries to protect herself and her family, initially using indirect ways to say no without feeling guilty. Over time, she became more confident in asserting her needs and saying no directly. The conversation ended with Kat expressing her growth and newfound confidence in setting boundaries. Setting Boundaries for Personal Growth Kat and Michael discussed the importance of setting boundaries and taking small steps toward personal growth. Kat emphasized the need to create a safe space while living on the edge, and Michael shared his experience as a reformed people pleaser. They both agreed that setting boundaries is crucial for personal well-being and may lead to some relationships fading or ending abruptly. Michael also shared his mother's struggle with giving too much and not taking care of herself first, emphasizing prioritizing oneself before helping others. Setting Boundaries for Personal Growth Michael and Kat discussed the importance of setting boundaries and understanding one's worth to maintain a healthy and fulfilling life. They emphasized that it's crucial to prioritize oneself and not let others dictate one's actions or emotions. They also highlighted the potential challenges and pain of setting boundaries, particularly with long-standing relationships. However, they agreed that focusing on personal growth is essential and not letting others' opinions or actions dictate one's happiness. They concluded by stressing the importance of networking and helping others, which can lead to a more harmonious and supportive world. Embracing Self-Discovery and Personal Growth Michael and Kat discussed the importance of self-discovery and personal growth. Michael emphasized the need for periodic checks on one's identity and the importance of pruning or adjusting aspects of oneself to promote growth and productivity. He also shared a personal experience of how he healed himself through childlike curiosity and therapy. The conversation ended with Michael's suggestion to approach self-discovery with curiosity and fall in love with oneself more. Self-Pruning and Personal Growth Discussed Kat discussed the importance of self-pruning and growth, drawing parallels with trimming a tree to allow for new growth. She emphasized the value of continuous learning and development, which can lead to personal growth and a more fulfilling life. Kat also shared her journey from a drama-filled and confrontational mindset to a more peaceful and neutral one, highlighting the benefits of this change in her life. She concluded by expressing her ability to handle stress and maintain a clear mind, which she attributes to her new mindset. Managing Stress and Crisis Situations Kat shared her experience of handling a stressful situation calmly, which she attributed to her ability to let go of uncontrollable factors and focus on what needed her attention. She mentioned an incident where her son was involved in a motorcycle accident, and she was able to remain calm and reassure him, allowing her to handle the situation effectively. Michael agreed with Kat's perspective, emphasizing the importance of keeping emotions in check and taking necessary steps calmly in such situations. He also acknowledged the nurturing aspect of motherhood and how it can influence a mother's response to a crisis.

Often, we treat others with a great deal more kindness and care than we treat ourselves—but this is a mistake. By putting our own needs last, we hinder our ability to actually be helpful and supportive to our loved ones. Welcome to episode three of Now I Get It with Dr. Andy. Today, I'm talking about nurturing yourself and others. Dane and Mitch explore the paradox of self-improvement, questioning whether focusing on oneself is inherently selfish or if it can serve a greater purpose. They discuss the tension between self-care and serving others, emphasizing that true growth often comes from voluntary discomfort. Through real-life examples and community insights, they reveal how building a personal practice not only benefits the individual but also strengthens their ability to support and uplift those around them. Small Jar's "mom archetypes" celebrate the many strengths and gifts that we bring to this beautiful and crazy journey of motherhood. We love our kids so much, and we want them to be safe, happy and successful. "The Mentor" is her kids' champion and cheerleader. She is the one who believes in her child's potential, and she shows up, in every conceivable way to help them be everything she knows they can be. Safe. Happy. Successful. Small Jar's "mom archetypes" celebrate the many strengths and gifts that we bring to this beautiful and crazy journey of motherhood. We love our kids so much, and we want them to be safe, happy and successful. "The Nurturer" is a mom who loves her children unconditionally. She has a high degree of empathy and provides a safe space for her children. She loves the purpose and fulfillment that comes with this role. There is a Nurturer in all of us, and these strengths have been a gift to our children. But these same strengths can make the Nurturer vulnerable to sadness as she feels her identity shifting as her kids grow up.The Guardian. Achiever. Nurturer. Mentor. Definition: Performative caring, also known as pseudo-care, is when someone shows care for a secondary personal gain. It can be a form of pathological altruism, and can involve: Questions: 1. What does genuine nurture look/feel/sound like? How can you recognize the difference between genuine nurturing versus nurturing with a motive? 2. How can the preconceived notion that “women are nurtures” create unrealistic expectations for women in relationships? How do these expectations create false narratives and entitlement surrounding care, nurturing and feminine roles within relationships? 3. What role does attachment style play in a person's ability to nurture? Are there connections that can be drawn between attachment style, vulnerability and a person's ability to give and/or receive nurturing? 4. Is performance a byproduct of a lack of nurturing? What distinguishes the mindset of a nurtured person going into relationships vs the non nurtured individual? 5. Is the desire to be validated the driving force behind performative care? If so, could the same be said for the person receiving the so-called care? Are both individuals demonstrating a lack of self worth by seeking validation in different ways? 6. How can the concept of performative caring be seen in the context of social media influencers and celebrities who often promote charitable causes or social justice issues for personal gain or to enhance their public image? 7. Can performative care be a learned behavior from childhood experiences or societal influences? How does childhood trauma or neglect contribute to the development of pseudo-care tendencies in individuals? 8. In what ways can performative caring be harmful to both the individual exhibiting this behavior and the recipient of their supposed care? How does it impact genuine relationships and emotional connection? 9. How can individuals who engage in performative caring work towards developing authentic empathy and compassion without ulterior motives? Is it possible to unlearn pseudo-care behaviors and cultivate genuine care and nurturing instincts? 10. Is there a connection between performative caring and narcissistic tendencies or manipulation tactics? How can one differentiate between genuine care and manipulation disguised as care? 11. How does the concept of performative caring tie into the power dynamics within relationships, especially in romantic partnerships or professional settings? Can pseudo-care be a tool for control or manipulation in such dynamics? 12. What are the psychological motivations behind engaging in performative caring behaviors? How do factors such as insecurity, low self-esteem, or fear of rejection play a role in seeking validation through pseudo-care actions? 13. How can individuals identify and confront their own tendencies towards performative caring? What steps can one take to cultivate authentic care and empathy towards others without seeking personal gain or validation? 14. Is there a spiritual or philosophical perspective on the concept of performative caring, as explored by thinkers like Krishnamurti or Wayne Dyer? How do spiritual teachings emphasize the importance of genuine compassion and selfless service? 15. Can the practice of mindfulness and self-awareness help individuals recognize and overcome their tendencies towards pseudo-care? How can practices such as meditation or introspection lead to a deeper understanding of one's true intentions and motivations in relationships? 1. **What does genuine nurture look/feel/sound like? Listen to St. Nektarios praise these holy mothers who raised some of the greatest saints the earth has ever seen. He describes how these holy women planted Christ in their sons' hearts and cultivated the grace to maturity. How critical the role of the mother is in raising children and how firm the foundation she can lay down in the hearts and minds of her children. -St. Nonna is the mother of St. John Chrysostom -St. Anthousa is the mother of St. Gregory the Theologian -St. Emmelia is the mother of St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory of Nyssa, St. Macrina the Younger, St. Peter of Sebaste, and St. Theosebia This is an excerpt from "Mothers and the Upbringing of Children" by St. Nektarios of Aegina https://youtu.be/_e4Fn_MsxLI A new book I suggest reading for those interested in Orthodox education, homeschooling and more: "Formation in the Love of Truth: Principles of Orthodox Education" by Archpriest Peter Heers: https://uncutmountainpress.com/shop/product/formation-in-the-love-of-truth-principles-of-orthodox-education/ _______ -EDUCATION: Orthodox education resources at Saint Kosmas Orthodox Education Association: https://saintkosmas.org/ -PREGNANCY RESOURCES: ZOE for life! is a support center (in person and online) for women needing recourse for unplanned and planned pregnancies, adoption, and more: https://zoeforlife.org/ -BOOK: Orthodox Christian Parenting by Zoe Press: https://www.zoepress.us/all-books-cds/orthodox-christian-parenting-recipes-for-raising-children-2020-2nd-edition -PRAYER: Akathist to the Mother of God, "Nurturer of Children": https://www.akathists.com/the-most-holy-theotokos/nurturer-of-children/ -PODCAST: Admonitions for Parents - St. John Chrysostom: https://youtu.be/lFcUbGHnU28 -PODCAST: The Holy Childhood of Archbishop John Maximovitch (OW podcast): https://youtu.be/hXB4wW4iozw -TEXT OF THIS PODCAST: https://saintkosmas.org/st-nektarios-mothers-and-the-upbringing-of-children -FIND A CHURCH: Find an Orthodox parish and monastery near you: https://orthodoxyinamerica.org/ _______ St. Nektarios writes: These mothers, desiring to educate their children as perfectly as possible and to polish their minds through Greek learning and knowledge, did not at all hesitate to entrust them to pagan teachers, so that they might be suitably developed intellectually. They considered the teachers' heterodoxy of no importance, because they had confidence in themselves, confidence that by their own example they had wholly channeled their own love for true learning and their fervent zeal for religion into their children's hearts. They recognized that nothing would be strong enough to shake their sons' religious principles and convictions, because these principles and convictions had been carefully built upon a rock! Consistent, then, with their convictions, Nonna and Emmelia, the good and noble mothers of Basil and Gregory, sent them off to Athens, to the hearth of learning and enlightenment, but the center also of idolatry, where the pagan religion was enthroned with all its magnificence. But their confidence was not disappointed, for the two young students, having alive in the hearth of their heart the fire of faith in Christ, remained uninfluenced during the whole period of their studies. What radiant examples we have before us in these pious mothers! What wondrous images! What wondrous models! Who can deny that it is the mothers who produce great and virtuous men? _______ Orthodox Wisdom is dedicated to sharing the writings and lives of the Saints of the Orthodox Church. Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. The gopher wood of Noah's Ark is unique. So far as is known, it grows only on the east bank of the Apalachicola River in a small area near Bristol Florida. The drift and pull of the Gulf Stream was calculated and could take an ark from Florida to Mount Ararat. The original area of Eden was much broader, E.E Callaway said, "It consisted of south Georgia and south Alabama, lying east of the Alabama River, and that part of west Florida lying between the Alabama line on the west and the Ochlockonee River on the east." Just as the River in the Bible, the Apalachicola river in Florida, is the only river in the world with four heads to flow through like Eden in the Bible. Dr. Narco Longo is an epic researcher/YouTube documentary filmmaker. His work consists of the findings in Florida that prove history wrong. He simply breaks down many topics that seem taboo but when later researched, have a lot of merit. His biggest insight is that the Garden of Eden could have potentially been where he lives today in Florida! Last week I shared my own version of "mom archetypes", celebrating the many strengths and gifts that we bring to this beautiful and crazy journey of motherhood. We love our kids so much, and we want them to be safe, happy and successful. At different times and stages, any of us moms could lean on the fearless protective power of what I call "The Guardian." Join me as I explore how there is a Guardian in every one of us as moms, and how that's actually been an incredibly helpful gift--both to us and our children. The Guardian. Achiever. Nurturer. Mentor. Which type are you?Take the Mom Archetype Quiz: https://small-jar.involve.me/momarchetypequiz

I am life that wants to live, in the midst of life that wants to live. -Albert Schweitzer Break away from old habits of thinking and living and come along on a personally colored expedition. It is substantially inspired by Dr. Shmuel Asher, a scholar of Hebrew and Middle Eastern religions. In the process, the path leads back to the long-lost and well-hidden ancient Hebrew understanding of the biblical center: to the Everlasting Agreement. Get the book: Leaving For The Source Of Life https://us.amazon.com/Leaving-Source-Life-Longing-Origin/dp/B0CZXZ7VF6/ Intuitively, we feel that the question of truth, compared to what is well known, should be answered more simply, more pointedly and more comprehensively. What is the core message of Jesus, the Hebrew from Nazareth? And how do we follow him, beyond religious corsets and esoteric arbitrariness? Dr. Stefan P. Becker is a tracker of the original life force. Studied the oldest occidental scriptures and several Vedic ones from India. Father, professor, and reformed pastor from Switzerland with a PhD in Systematic Theology and an urge to be barefoot in nature as much as he can. His search for what is real, true and life serving has lead him down many rabbit holes and out of established circles as you can imagine. It even almost knocked out his ability to earn an income. I want to celebrate how beautiful and powerful we are as moms. But we are all also unique in how we approach motherhood. So I thought I'd put together a bit of a Myers-Briggs or Enneagram-style view of Mom Archetypes that offers a more holistic view of who we are as moms...not defined by our challenges, but rather by our strengths. With each of these Mom Archetypes, I am taking as a given that every one of these “types” are the kind of mom who loves her kids and tries her best. And like with any archetypal model, while we might lean in the direction of one of these particular types, we all have the potential to have an element of any of these types. The Guardian. Achiever. Nurturer. Mentor. Which type are you?
You're a helping spirit that gives your all to serve others. You love to contribute and give your support, but despite that you crash under the weight of it, and go from helping everyone, to helping no one. And then you heal, go into amnesia, start helping everyone again, and head for a new (same old) crash. It's a vicious cycle. But you don't have to stay stuck in it!! If you'd like to learn about how to break this archetypal pattern of the Nurturer you can sign up for free at this link: Getting Off the Nurturer's Pendulum Swing In it you'll see how it's designed to take you from not knowing why you give, give, and give some more, to your own detriment, to knowing exactly why you give, to great satisfaction and with great conviction that keeps you always working towards greater sacred purpose. The Find Your Sacred Purpose online course is included as a free bonus to The Nurturer Cure live course. You're gonna love realizing how parallel issues in your life (things that seem like different problems in different areas) also actually live under the umbrella of the Nurturer's shadow too. Most importantly, I am going to share a step-by-step path for bringing this Nurturer shadow, of helping everyone, crashing, and helping no one, into the light of day where you see a clear path for being a truly a happy giver. That way you can make a huge difference for people in a way that your people can fully embrace and receive with joy! Because I know that if Nurturers had a better idea of not only who they are, but exactly how they help, and most importantly of all, who they help, they would be in a better position to preserve their precious energy that wills them to serve, and to give in ways that actually further their God-given, sacred purpose rather than deplete it. Beth Martens offers 20 years of business experience and provides simple tools, systems and strategies for building and up-leveling a service-based business. And, because a life's work business triggers a woman's deepest fears, I help guide them through the emotional underworld with archetypes and powerful releasing tools. I also show you how to get your message out authentically through teaching you how to tell your story to attract your audience and your clients. Through one-on-one coaching and online resources based on my 6-step system for building your life's work as a business I guide my clients from the sense of being overwhelmed to only doing the right steps in a methodical and tried-and-true way that works. Ben Balderson is a friend, a Spider, podcaster, homesteader, and Alchemist who daily takes great care - of his land, animals, family and friends. In this King Hero interview we're going to do a deep dive into the masculine side of the Nurturer archetype. We will talk about where men get stuck in this role of taking care of everyone, and how Ben gracefully serves his kingdom without taking himself out in the process. Nurturing the Nurturer - How do we Take Care of our Minds, Bodies and Souls as Leaders by Radio Islam
Ever wondered how a brush with destiny could steer you toward a life of impactful entrepreneurship? Ann Bennett, the branding maestro who stands apart with her fusion of fine art and marketing genius, takes us on her extraordinary voyage from Vogue's elite corridors to the forefront of renegade branding. She divulges not just how personal upheavals, like her 9-11 experience, spurred her pivot towards purposeful business creation, but also how integrating one's personality into branding can slice through the cacophony of AI-generated content. In a world brimming with distractions, finding the harmony between personal empowerment and the entrepreneurial hustle can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. I share my own tales of embracing missteps as foundations for confidence and the art of keeping an unwavering focus on your business lane. Reflecting on themes from my book "Laughing Your Way to Loving Yourself," we dissect the role humor and self-compassion play in business, alongside the credo that "good is good enough." We also discuss creating oases of simplicity and innovation amidst the digital era's tornado. By the end of our chat, the magnetic allure of authentic branding becomes undeniable, as Ann sheds light on the influence of DNA and archetypal resonance in fashioning a message that truly connects. She gifts us her insights on cultivating that 'head whipping hook' to make a brand irresistibly noticeable in a crowded digital landscape. If you're itching to refine your brand identity and magnify your business success, Ann invites you to explore your brand archetype through her website. Discover Your Brand Archetype.
