TODAY I SPEAK WITH A BAND THAT ROCKED FOR DECADES BRINGING THE INDUSTRIAL GENRE TO ITS KNEES WITH THERE PERSONAL STYLE OF DARK TONES WITH THAT INDUSTRIAL FEEL THAT YOU WOULD HEAR IN BANDS LIKE CIRCLE OF DUST, MY LIFE WITH THE TRILL KILL KULT AND SO MANY OTHERS. I INTRO YOU TO KLANK! Klank Band Bio Splicing the mosh pit and the dance floor, this wrecking machine originally from New York known as KLANK released their debut album “Still Suffering” on the Seattle-based Tooth & Nail Records in 1996. Breaking musical boundaries with a sound described as ‘dancy, aggressive, electronically infused groove', KLANK spent 18 weeks on the CMJ Top 40 charts and their monster single “Downside” which was added to over 170 radio stations nationwide. KLANK gained an immense amount of attention and notoriety while forming a strong, loyal fan base with their constant touring and growing reputation for intense live shows. KLANK then made their mark once again with their sophomore release “Numb” which included the crushing single “Blind” which again made it into the top 40 on the CMJ charts. A video was also filmed for “Blind” which become a regular fixture on the Much Music channel. Following Numb, KLANK appeared on several compilations which included their version of “I'll Wait” to the “Running with the Devil - a Tribute to Van Halen ” release. KLANK consists of Daren “Klank” Diolosa (Circle Of Dust) on vocals, guitars, Pat Servedio on guitar, keys, programming and production, and Eric Wilkins on drums. When asked to summarize KLANK's music and lyrical direction, Diolosa has explained that, “Writing music is a form of therapy that helps to release bottled up frustrations and emotions that otherwise have no outlet… We write music that we feel comes from deep down inside and a lot of people can relate because it's based on real life situations and emotions from living our everyday life… From mood swings, bitterness, the longing for inner peace to elements of hope, happiness & even despair. We all have to deal with these in our lives and this is our way to vent those issues… We call it ‘sonic therapy'.” After the release of NUMB, Diolosa contributed vocals to the song “Silhouette Of Rage” found on Argyle Park's “Suspension of Disbelief” release. In 2007 the band released the “In Memory Of…” EP which featured the trademark KLANK sound of layers of guitars, keyboards, samples, thumping bass, live and programmed drums fused with melodic, deep heartfelt introspective lyrics. “In Memory Of…” containes the song “EXPN2Day”, which the band had written, by request of ESPN specifically for their extreme sports and music show called “EXPN2Day” On April 20, 2010 KLANK unleashed their “NUMB…Reborn” release which contains 15 tracks of the classic KLANK sound. Songs like Don't Count Me Out, Blind, D.F.L. and The Rules tip the scales of heaviness, while songs like Broken, God? and So Very Real lets the bands melodic side shine through in full form. KLANK's last offering titled “URBAN WARFARE” was released on June 12, 2012 and is being hailed not only as the bands best but also their strongest release to date. Complete with a guest appearance by Dug Pinnick from KING's X, this new cd really packs a punch. Urban Warfare contains 14 blistering brand new tracks and was mastered by renowned audio wizard Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles, CA. “We wanted to put out a CD that fully captures the live essence and intensity of what KLANK is live and we couldn't be happier with the result”, explains Diolosa. Continuing with our form of “Sonic Therapy” , the songs on our newest release Rise have been birthed from real life struggles, situations and emotions that we face daily, have dealt with or that has affected those around us . From the loss of loved ones, the daily fight for survival and dealing with our fears to overcoming addictions, understanding our humanity and empathizing with those contemplating suicide because you've been in that dark place at one time. See for yourself how KLANK mesh the aggression and pounce of metal with the infectious drive of the dance floor and intertwines it within a foreground of synths, samples, loops and low end to form a truly unique sound all their own. VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and RAVEN frontman John Gallagher join us on this week's Loaded Radio Podcast. This week's edition of THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST features two veterans within the genre of heavy metal. Michel "Away" Langevin from Canadian experimental thrashers VOIVOD as well as frontman John Gallagher from New Wave Of British Heavy Metal icons RAVEN. In 2023, VOIVOD are commemorating their remarkable 40-year journey with a momentous milestone: the release of the special anniversary studio album titled "Morgöth Tales," which arrived on July 21 through Century Media Records. This album, once again recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum, and produced by VOIVOD themselves, showcases a captivating collection of fresh studio re-recordings. The band's current lineup carefully handpicked these selections, delving into their extensive and diverse musical catalog from 1984 to 2003. Additionally, "Morgöth Tales" features an all-new song and the eponymous title track, adding another layer of excitement. Hailing from Jonquière, Québec, VOIVOD is a prominent Canadian heavy metal band. Over the years, their musical style has undergone various transformations since their formation in the early 1980s. Initially rooted in speed metal, VOIVOD incorporated elements of progressive metal and thrash metal, forging a distinct and innovative metal sound. They are widely recognized as one of the "big four" Canadian thrash metal bands, alongside SACRIFICE, RAZOR, and ANNIHILATOR. Throughout their illustrious career, VOIVOD has attained significant influence and acclaim, making them one of the most revered metal bands from the 1980s. Their impact has transcended boundaries, garnering praise and inspiring numerous bands across a wide array of genres. The second portion of the show features a talk with John Gallagher from RAVEN who have their new studio album "All Hell's Breaking Loose" available now. RAVEN demonstrated incredible productivity from the early '80s to the late '90s, consistently delivering a new album every year or two. Following a hiatus that lasted a decade, they resumed releasing fresh material in 2010. Their latest offering, titled "All Hell's Breaking Loose," proudly stands as their fifteenth studio album. The foundation of RAVEN has always rested upon the talented Gallagher brothers: John on vocals and bass, and Mark on guitar. Throughout their journey, the band has seen several drummers come and go, but since 2018, they have been accompanied by the skilled Mike Heller (known for his work with FEAR FACTORY and MALIGNANCY). Heller's presence on board marks his second album collaboration with RAVEN, with "All Hell's Breaking Loose" being recorded at his studio in Los Angeles. In 2023, RAVEN's musical direction remains faithful to the path they carved during the glorious era of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). However, they harness their decades of experience and combine it with modern production techniques when crafting the songs that adorn "All Hell's Breaking Loose." This fusion allows them to uphold their musical roots while embracing the advancements of the present day.
The latest edition of THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST is up and features UNDEATH vocalist Alex Jones and OSYRON singer Reed Alton as guests UNDEATH are currently on the road throughout North America with their skull crushing death metal attack in support of their latest album "It's Time...To Rise From The Grave". Calgary, Alberta, Canada's OSYRON are currently riding high after the release of their latest album "Momentous". The record features an appearance by Stu Block (ANNIHILATOR, INTO ETERNITY) and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering (FAITH NO MORE, DREAM THEATER). In just a month's time, OSYRON's listeners on Spotify have grown by 98% with streams increasing by 78%. Megadeth's David Ellefson, Jeff Scott Soto and Sword's Rick Hughes tell road stories (from March 2021) PLUS -- For Immediate Release March 23, 2021 Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and Sons of Apollo vocalist Jeff Scott Soto have been collaborating on some new material recently under the moniker ELLEFSON-SOTO. The Ellefson-Soto version of the Riot classic “Swords & Tequila” released via Ellefson’s Combat Records on www.ellefsonmusic.bandcamp.com and across all digital streaming outlets. The song was originally featured on the 1981 Riot LP Fire Down Under (Elektra). The play through video can be seen here: https://youtu.be/gSDqHiQk0QY The track was produced by David Ellefson & Andy Martongelli, mixed by Alessio Garavello in Wembley, England and mastered by Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles, CA. The video is directed by Elia Turra for Fisheye Studio in Verona, Italy. The ELLEFSON-SOTO recording lineup includes: David Ellefson- Bass Jeff Scott Soto- Lead Vocals Andy Martongelli- Lead & Rhythm Guitars Paolo Caridi- Drums *Featuring Rick Hughes- Lead Vocals (Swords & Tequila) Says Ellefson, “Jeff and I have been friends for so many years that it’s great to finally collaborate on some material together. He has such a distinctive voice and perfect style for some new ideas my guitarist Andy Martongelli (Ellefson) and I have been composing. We are excited about the progress of it all and thought this would be a perfect time to give a little sneak preview. “ Jeff adds, “As COVID-19 became a big negative around the globe, it actually offered many artists a chance to finally collaborate with one another that might have never happened otherwise…as I have known David for many years, I knew from our other efforts outside of our day jobs that we could come up with some badass jams…and here we are, letting you in on our cool little secret!”. As for the choice of cover song Ellefson reminisced, “The first time I ever heard of Riot was on the Castle Donington Monters of Rock album from 1980. For me, they were the USA representatives during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. And, “Swords & Tequila”, along with the entire Fire Down Under album for that matter, show the band delivering it’s rowdy and high energy rock n roll like no other band in the USA was doing at that time. So, it is an honor to offer them much deserved reverence, as well as a reminiscent tribute to the mighty Guy Speranza, who fronted the band like a god during that period. Soto adds, “What can I say? This was a classic metal track from Riot that we all knew growing up, when David brought up that we should cover it I was thrilled. But when we added Rick Hughes from the band Sword onto it, it truly came to life! 40 years after its release, we hope you dig this new version we built for you!” Vocalist Rick Hughes is the founding front man of the iconic Quebec Power Metal group SWORD. The Canadian quartet formed in 1981 and have released a string of metal classics including their eponymous 1984 Aquarias Records debut Metalized which has been esteemed by fans and musicians alike including the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, Motorhead and many more. Hughes explains, “To me, music has always been the best medicine and that is why in this time of not being able to perform with live musicians in front of a live audience, I was more than happy to participate in this camaraderie of seasoned musicians.” Sword’s latest album In Kommand is now available via Combat Records. More new tracks from Ellefson-Soto are in the works with release details to be announced. Riot formed in New York City in 1975 and has produced a long list of classic hard rock albums for Victor Entertainment, Capitol & Elektra Records as well as re-issues by Metal Blade Records. Guy Speranza was a founding member and vocalist for the group and sang on the early albums Rock City (1977), Narita (1979) and Fire Down Under (1981). He was then succeeded by Rhett Forrester in 1982. Speranza passed away in 2003 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 47. Riot has since undergone several member and lineup changes but still remains active under the new name of RIOT V. Help support the show. At 15, Savannah was given the opportunity to work along side Geno LeSage, Steve Cox, and Kenny Royster who were involved in the careers of Grammy award-winning artists including Collin Raye and many others. Savannah lost her biggest fan, Grandma Linda, to pancreatic cancer shortly after launching her career. She made a promise to herself and her grandmother that music would not just be a dream, but a priority. She completed her college education in 2014, married the man of her dreams, and moved to Nashville in early 2019. Soon after her move, Savannah began to make musical connections that would launch her career. Joie Scott, a well-known songwriter in Nashville, influenced Savannah’s songwriting ability and co-wrote her first song “Until Always,” which she performed at her own wedding. She was also introduced to Bryan Cole, a talented producer out of Pittsburgh, PA who took a special interest in Savannah’s unique story, sound, and powerful voice. She recorded her latest EP, produced by Bryan Cole and Grammy Award winner Steve Marcantonio, in November of 2019 with her family and friends watching the magic outside the studio glass. This small-town girl with the big voice is making waves on the international scene, reaching #1 on the iTunes country singles chart in South Africa with “We Are Us.” She feels nothing but humility, love, and support from her family, both here and gone, and will use music to make them proud.http://www.savannahnidermusic.comhttps://www.facebook.com/savannahnidermusic/https://twitter.com/savannah_niderCONTACT:Michael Stover/MTS Management Groupmichael@mtsmanagementgroup.com

On today's podcast, Mastering Engineer Maor Appelbaum gives some great insight into the mastering process from a Mastering Engineers point of view. His discography is huge and his knowledge about this topic is only preceded by his humbleness. What are some common misconceptions of Mastering? What does a Mastering Engineer “hone in” on when receiving a mix? What are the major differences between a professional mix and an amateur mix?
