Every once in a while we get guests who worry that they won't have something to say on the podcast. Yoelit Hiebert, an electrical engineer who worked on the Tomahawk weapons system, has plenty to say and it's worth listening to. Working on something as complicated as a self guided missile, documentation is vital. While we're not going to accidentally blow something up with lighting controls, Yoelit argues that documentation will save time, money, and headaches. Yoelit has been working in the LED lighting industry for nearly twenty years and currently serves as both the Quality Manager and R&D lead at PLC Multipoint. Yoelit really likes solving problems and her work gives her plenty of opportunities to do just that in the complex and rapidly changing world of lighting control. Yoelit Hiebert has both a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering. She is a Professional Engineer and Lighting Certified. Yoelit is active in industry standards development and serves as the Vice-Chair for the IES Lighting Control Systems Committee. Yoelit also serves as Vice-Chair on the Lighting Controls Association Board. Although a St. Louis native, Yoelit has spent the last five years living and working in Connecticut.Connect with Yoelit: plcmultipoint.com www.linkedin.com/in/yoelit-h-hiebert-pe-lc-2b47034 Sponsor: mwConnect www.mwconnect.us

Host Alyson Stanfield discusses the benefits and strategies of a daily creative practice with Helen Hiebert, who constructs installations, sculptures, films, artists' books, and works in paper using handmade paper as her primary medium. This conversation acknowledges the value of a daily practice, but Helen is a strong advocate for what she calls “intermittent daily practices.” If sticking to a daily routine forever feels daunting, her approach might resonate with you. There's also a dive into Helen's realization that as a teacher, she could maintain the same class structure while creatively evolving the content to keep it fresh and exciting over time—primarily to prevent herself from getting bored. She emphasizes the importance of focusing on the act of making—without obsessing over the final outcome. 04:00 Helen's Income Streams Update [ see Transform Your Creative Ideas into Multiple Income Streams with Helen Hiebert (ep. 18) ] 06:14 Daily Practice and Paper Weaving 22:30 Teaching and Online Classes 26:10 The Different Types of Students 26:42 Keeping the Class Interesting 28:17 Innovative Teaching Methods 32:49 Tips for Sticking to a Daily Practice 37:43 The Importance of Community and Accountability 45:41 Concluding Thoughts and Upcoming Events

Living off-grid doesn't have to mean “barely getting by” and going without our favourite life amenities. In fact, today's guest, Patrick Hiiebert, is building luxury, freedom-oriented, off-grid communities right here in Latin America. Like myself, Patrick was born in Canada and now lives in Latin America. He is the CEO and one of the founders of EcoVillages and VidaVerde AgroForestry. Through his work at EcoVillages, he has founded Veritas Village Panama, a luxury off-grid community outside of Panama City. TODAY'S CONVERSATION WITH PATRICK HIEBERT: Listen in to find out how Patrick and his family ended up falling in love with and living full-time in Latin America. Learn why Patrick intends to win back the term “eco” from climate commies who have distorted it to be conflated with socialism. Can you really live off-the-grid while having all the amenities of luxury, first-world living? Patrick reveals the pieces that make the concept work. Discover what the future holds for the Veritas concept and what other countries are on the radar for potential Veritas-inspired communities. Tune in to hear Patrick and I brainstorm some wild ideas together for expanding this off-grid luxury concept. Find out how living in an off-grid community not only improves your way of life but drastically decreases your cost of living. Hear Patrick explain why the demand for this type of self-sufficient community has skyrocketed since COVID restrictions of a few years ago. By the end of this conversation, you'll fully understand why Latin America provides an ideal, welcoming and safe environment for these off-grid communities. It's an episode you don't want to miss! Key Takeaways: The impact of leadership communication styles and the proper balance between being assertive and considerate.
