Recently I wrote about Mesha Mainor, who represents a deep blue district in Atlanta in the Georgia state legislature, announcing that she is switching parties and becoming a Republican. Mainor specifically noted her frustration with the Democratic Party in its opposition to improving education through parental choice and ongoing Democratic weakness in building strong law enforcement. I cannot claim a new wave of Black Democrats like Mainor becoming Republicans. But there is certainly a trend. We now have a meaningful new announcement from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson that he is switching parties and becoming a Republican. Johnson was elected mayor...Article Link

Today's bonus episode is my sit-down conversation with Georgia State Representative Mesha Mainor (GA-56), who served three years in the Georgia General Assembly as a Democrat. After being bullied, ostracized and left as stranded as a shipwrecked sailor on an island, Rep. Mainor decided it was time to switch parties. It was such a pleasure to spend 30 minutes with Mesha to talk about her experience running as a Democrat and how she came to realize the only party actually helping her, was the GOP. She is one of those politicians who remembers she is there to represent the will of her constituents. She does not believe her election gave her power to rule, but rather to server. She is a strong believer in school choice, of safe streets and of law enforcement. Her constituents are wanting the same and yet she found herself cut-off and even primaried in the last election. Now, the Democrat leadership is going to come after her with everything they have for daring to put the people of the 56th district ahead of the agenda of the party. It's a fascinating look at how someone tried to work within the party to which she was felt affiliated, until they decided she wasn't going to be controlled. It's a lesson in the state of current party politics. I hope you enjoy the conversation and even consider supporting her bid for re-election this fall. We need more representatives with her servants heart and rock-solid courage. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Could the future of the GOP be black and female? Democrat turned Republican, Mesha Mainor, a Georgia state legislator serving the 56th District is showing that it very well could be. Her recent political revolt against her Democratic colleagues is an valiant attempt to deviate away from partisan orthodoxy while also retaining her core values. Her RICO filing against Democratic DA darling, Fani Wllis who is the black female prosecutor orchestrating the Trump and cronies indictment in Georgia's Fulton County sure adds an interesting layer and whether we agree on everything or not (definitely not), we can agree on the fact that Rep. Mainor is a force and someone to keep a close on as the Republican party sort out wtf to do re:Trump. As Rep. Republicans have a new shining star for the 2024 presidential election in the way of Georgia State Rep. Mesha Mainor. Mainor, an African American who has been serving the Georgia state legislature since January 2021, announced two weeks ago that she is leaving the Democratic Party and becoming a Republican. This week on The Georgia Politics Podcast we discuss Brian Kemp staying put, Mesha Mainor doing the opposite, and that the state of Georgia is flush with cash. Brian Kemp Shuts Door on National Office, For Now Governor Kemp fairly firmly shut the door on a Presidential bid this week, saying “It's humbling that there are people out there that think I would make a good president, but I have got a great job that I am very happy in. We've got really an opportunity of a lifetime right now in the state of Georgia as we see an industrial revolution happening right before our eyes. So I am staying very focused on that. That's what I promised people I would do when I got re-elected.” Mesha Mainor Switches Parties This past week, Democratic State Representative Mesha Mainor announced that she was leaving the Democratic Party and joining up with the Republicans. What did we make of the announcement? State Surplus The Kemp administration announced another state surplus that could amount to up to $5 billion. Over the last two years, these have led to rebates for taxpayers, but Democrats are saying that surplus is really an opportunity to make up for lost services. Today's show centers around the notion that hate and fear are the tools of despots, designed to divide and control the people. It's as simple as that. If you keep that one thought in your head, you will have a whole new perspective when processing sensationalized headlines and hyperbolic sound bites from the proverbial talking heads on Legacy/mainstream media. To illustrate that, I open with a quote from someone traveling across Europe. Here's that quote: "The heat is at present intense. In England, if it reaches 98 degrees you are all on fire: the other day, in traveling between Athens and Megara, the thermometer was at 125 degrees. Yet, I feel no inconvenience; of course I am much bronzed, but I live temperately and never enjoyed better health.” If that quote sounds like someone trying to speak a little archaically, there's a reason for it. That's from Lord Byron of England in his journal, written on July 30, 1810. With that quote in mind, let's remind you of a soundbite I brought to you a year and a half ago from Charlie Chester, a CNN Technical Director. Not knowing he was being recorded, spoke about how the news was going to shift away from destroying Donald Trump and spreading fear about the pandemic. Basically, they need a new subject to stoke new fear, since the Covid narrative had already run its course. What have they decided to push? Climate change! It's no surprise there has been a concerted effort to stoke those fears nonstop this summer. They are conflating data and running with every breathless reporter they can find, who is dutifully acting the role of useful idiot. It's like people think history only began when they were born and nothing every came before. We move on to a short segment about Cocainegate and an article from Soldier of Fortune Magazine. According to their sources, Secret Service does know whose cocaine it is, but is not going to share it. A freedom of information request is being pushed by that magazine to force them to release what they know. Rep. Tim Burchett, who was the lawmaker who stormed out of the Secret Service briefing last Thursday regarding Cocainegate, was talking this weekend about the ongoing work of the House Oversight Committee. This time, they are looking at the timeline and payments from Romania into the Biden Crime Family Syndicate. At the same time, an FBI whistleblower has come forward to say that FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate suggested that at least 25 FBI confidential human sources, or informants, involved in reporting to the Bureau from the January 6, 2021 protest, should not be publicly acknowledged. Call me shocked. We already know this, but more agents are getting tired of seeing their agency turned into the Gestapo of the Biden regime. The Democrat party had to put out a statement over the weekend, showing support for Israel. Apparently, the hate-filled, antisemite, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said some things aloud that she wasn't supposed to. But, like the other members of the Squad, these radical Leftists always show us who they are and just how much hate and division they enjoy sowing on their fellow Americans. Finally, while on the subject of Democrat hate, we end with a story from my home state of Georgia. Rep. Mesha Mainor decided last week to change parties. She realized her constituents wanted the same things being pushed by the Georgia GOP. She thought she would be allowed to vote for some of those initiatives as a Democrat. She thought wrong. After being lambasted and shunned by her party for the last few years, she decided to switch parties and boy do we have some hate mail to read from Democrats. They always show us who they are when they let their emotions get the better of them. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Mike Slater starts the show with a look at several stories that have been trending on Breitbart including the White House cocaine investigation, Democrats in the New England area wanting to give voting rights to foreign nationals, and the continuing intersection of China and American sports. Our guest today is Georgia State Rep. Mesha Mainor (R-56) who made headlines for becoming a Republican despite being an elected official in a heavily blue area. She talks about her decision to do that and why she said that Democrats have “gotten away with using and abusing the black community.”
Joe and Hunter Biden have used their positions for personal gain at America's expense! IT'S ILLEGAL! The Biden Crime family has damaged the moral integrity of the White House. The DOJ and the FBI protected the Biden Crime Family for years, and now 3 times in the last 12 months we see the Secret Service rushing to judgement claiming there is no way to determine who was associated with this cocaine discovery in the White House. Constitutional amendments needed now to ‘police' the bad behavior of the elected and the bureaucratic staff. AGAIN, I propose oversight through a newly formed “Supreme Magistrates” system, to impose an immediate remedy for wrongdoings of the elected and staff. The Convention of States is now necessary to move away from the administrative autocratic hierarchy of our government which is controlled by the select few at the expense of the many. REMEMBER; “The People” control this nation … not the select few … and the media needs to understand that! We cannot count on Congress to make such changes to our Constitution. We need the Convention of States! The amendments must demand a balanced budget, term limits, elimination of ballot harvesting, an election day paid holiday insuring everyone votes that can, etc … The people listening are supposed to be running this government, not the select few wasting our time talking about transgender in the military etc, while China on the sidelines spies on us and laughs at us. Most media does not bring these issues out in the open. Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC wastes time talking about Biden's aides for not protecting Joe from tripping, yet she refuses to address the malfeasance of the Biden crime family. Mesha Mainor, Georgia Democrat lawmaker, just switched to become a Republican. She said the ideals of the Democrat party were not representative of her Atlanta people. 0:00 - Is the FBI protecting President Biden? Hear what Christopher Wray said under oath. And how did Wray do and did we get anywhere? It was infuriating to watch. Wray danced around so many questions. Is the FBI “colluding” with Big Tech? Wray's MO was to say not much was going on. Maybe he is giving lawmakers more evidence for an impeachment? Kemp's War Chest grows by $5.2M. How's he going to spend it? Folks keep wanting Kemp to run for Prez but he keeps saying no thanks. Somehow Atlanta is a finalist for a future MLB All Star Game. Fulton DA Fani Willis inches closer to election fallout indictments. A Georgia Democrat has switched to the GOP. Mesha Mainor, a Georgia state legislator, has decided to leave the Democratic party due to her support of school choice, among other things. Mainor will become the first black republican woman to serve in the Georgia General Assembly. Also, Vince discusses Joe Biden's fitness for office. As the Department of Justice announces their intent to investigate the Fulton County Jail after a September 2022 death of a mentally ill man in its custody, we learn earlier this week a 19-year old woman held on misdemeanor (you read that right) charges since late May died in custody and under Fulton Sheriff's Department watch. In other news, another lawsuit slapped on UGA in the wake of the deadly January crash that killed two, and the school and athletic department's reaction to it and to allegations of providing cover to football players accused of sexual misconduct leaves a lot to be desired. Most of today, however, I spoke with GOP political consultant Leo Smith, who reached out and wanted to talk "school vouchers" and Mesha Mainor's move from the Democratic to Republican parties. It's a doozie.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney assembled two grand jury panels, one of which is expected to weigh charges against former President Donald Trump. In this episode of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Politically Georgia podcast, AJC political insiders Greg Bluestein and Patricia Murphy are joined by AJC reporter Jeremy Redmon, who was at the Fulton County courthouse Tuesday, to hear how the selection process played out and what's next in the Fulton County case investigating Trump and his allies and their attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Plus, our insiders discuss the new federal elections bill unveiled in Georgia by Republican members of Congress. Hear how Georgia's SB 202 passed in 2021 is serving as an example for the rest of the county. We'll also explain why Georgia state Rep. Mesha Mainor switched parties to join the GOP and how much impact that will have on Georgia's political landscape. Have a question for Greg and Patricia? Rep. Mesha Mainor switches parties, but as much as she insists it's because the party left her and not the other way around. I've some of her past statements that tell me she's not exactly going to be a fit in the GOP, either but hey ... good luck. Trump wants to delay fending off the federal indictments until after the 2024 election because he's the leading GOP nominee currently. As awful and wrong as the tactic is, it's even more absurd that he IS the leading GOP nominee. That fact says more about the party base and the presumptive leading challenger's inability to be liked by just about anyone. Also, it seems Florida's starting experience what California's long dealt with - and it's pretty obvious "liberal policies" aren't the reason. Alright; I saw "Sound of Freedom," so now I'm going to sound off on the partisan noise surrounding it. An embed reporter from her 2014 experience wrote a scathing piece in 2021 about it, too. Then I'll use Marjorie Taylor Green's anti-immigrant rhetoric to make a point liberals need to repeat.
After the expulsion and reinstatement of two black lawmakers after a gun protest in the Tennessee House, questions rise about whether House and Senate leaders in Georgia could also oust their own members. In this episode of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Politically Georgia podcast, AJC political insiders Greg Bluestein and Patricia Murphy explain how that process would work and point to similar instances that have happened in Georgia history. Plus, our insiders talk about the backlash against Rep. Mesha Mainor from Democrats for her support of the school voucher measure and other GOP-backed initiatives.
