Welcome to a truly inspiring episode of our podcast, "Staying Focused on the Goal," where we sit down with none other than professional soccer player, Nazeem Bartman. Nazeem's story is nothing short of incredible, taking him from the challenging streets of Bonteheuwel in the Cape Flats to a thriving soccer career in the United States. In this episode, Nazeem and I dive deep into his extraordinary journey, a path marked by adversity and unwavering determination. Growing up in a household where stable income was a distant dream, Nazeem faced the odds head-on. He shares with us the relentless focus he maintained on the goal of becoming a soccer star, defying the circumstances that would have deterred most. But the story doesn't end with Nazeem's personal journey. It's also about the incredible role his parents played in nurturing his belief that dreams can come true. It's about the sacrifices he made to chase his aspirations, even when the odds seemed stacked against him. Moreover, Nazeem Bartman is a trailblazer with a mission. He's not just about personal success; he's dedicated to breaking barriers and paving the way for others. Whether it's in academics or athletics, Nazeem's story is an embodiment of what's possible. He's founded the FBL foundation to prove just that, providing young individuals from the Cape Flats with hope and inspiration. These are young souls who, like Nazeem, might not have had many positive role models they could relate to or aspire to be. Through the FBL foundation, Nazeem is introducing them to stories of success from their own neighborhoods, showing them that their dreams are within reach. Join us in this incredible journey as Nazeem Bartman's life unfolds before your ears. It's a story of resilience, ambition, and the power of staying focused on the goal. Tune in and let Nazeem's inspiring narrative touch your heart and inspire you to reach for your dreams, regardless of where you come from. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/coachedsuccess/message

The lawyer-turned-comedian and television creator, Nazeem Hussain. If you’re anywhere near TikTok you’ll see that Nazeem’s sketch shows Legally Brown, which first screened on SBS, and Orange is the New Brown (Channel 7), have gained a whole new, obsessively loyal audience. But Nazeem’s not thinking too much about creating any television right now. He’s just become a father for a second time and his stand-up show, Hussain That? is currently playing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival before he takes it around Australia. In this episode, we revisit a story Nazeem told me in 2015, in which he and his family narrowly escaped death. We also talk about his problem with punctuality, and how former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, once sent him fun sized Snickers bars.As usual, I start off by asking Nazeem, how he thinks his colleagues would describe him. Nazeem Hussain is one of the biggest stars of Australian Comedy and a much loved television and radio personality. A regular on international stages, Nazeem is now enjoying a different kind of success with his ground breaking sketches going viral on Tiktok. In this episode you will learn there is so much more to the cheeky comic than his ability to make us laugh. Nazeem and Jess go deep on how he challenges the assumptions and inbuilt prejudices we can unknowingly have about people, and why he loves to flip the power dynamic and make us laugh with him about it. While stand up comedy is his first love, nothing comes in the way of his love for his mum, Nazeem says that success only matters when he knows his mum is proud. He also opens up about his Muslim faith and how it enriches his life by helping him stay centered, gives him a sense of community and belonging, and a reminder that there is a lot to be thankful for. Tickets are now available to see Nazeem in this live show Hussain That? For details visit livenation.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's 2011. Australia is in its tenth year of the War on Terror. Reports of hate crimes are on the rise. And 20-something Nazeem Hussain is a tax specialist. Before he was selling out shows and touring stand-up internationally, Nazeem Hussain wore a suit and clocked in at 9am for his day job. At evenings and weekends, he was also media spokesperson for the Islamic Council of Victoria. And one morning, he gets a phone call that sets him on a path worthy of a spy drama.
Nazeem moves to the centre of the universe and promptly gets into a fight with the locals; Chrissie joins a local netball team and asks 'How Very Dare You?'; Browny weighs in on the parameters of defining a 'stinker' and Sam gives Jack some terrible advice about being the MC at a wedding! Comedian Nazeem Hussain became a household name after reaching the final of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, made his American TV debut sharing a screen with Bill Nye and has a comedy special on Netflix. But Nazeem never meant to become an international comedy success as Jamila Rizvi finds out. The two talk about Nazeem's heritage, growing up in Melbourne's Muslim community and reconnecting with his Sri Lankan roots; life as a dad and rubbing shoulders with A-Listers like Kevin Hart and Dave Chappelle on wild nights out. Forward Together: A Podcast from the Arkansas Poor People's Campaign
In Episode 10, Nate Davis catches up with Fair Sentencing activist Kaleem Nazeem, a charter member of the Arkansas Poor People's Campaign, who left his Little Rock community at the age of 17 to begin a life sentence in what he calls the “Bondage System”. Kaleem shares what Little Rock was like in the late 80s and 90s and how the streets compensated for what the school to prison pipeline steals from young black boys. You'll find out what happened when 21-year-old Kaleem wouldn't pick cotton for the Arkansas Department of Corrections, and what it means for a soul to live with intention. Listen in as Kaleem, who will graduate from Arkansas State University with an Associate's degree in science this summer, explains freed spirits, enslaved spirits, and its impact on the metamorphosis that we all undergo while becoming the whole and fulfilled human beings that we are truly meant to be. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/forwardtogetherarppc/message
