It was over before it started - did you see the priest blessing the Pittsburgh endzone with the holy water before the game? The other side of that magic H20 is of course it damned the Ravens. What did they do to feel the wrath of Jesus? I don't know. And I don't want to know. But we do know the NFL playoffs are set. The Broncos and the Seahawks have the easiest pathways to Santa Clara. Mike Tomlin lives to coach again. And over in college football land, a Cuban American showdown between Miami native Fernando Mendoza and fans of The U is on the horizon. They just need to get past the Ducks and Ole Miss first. Dave Dameshek and the gang chat it up with our good friend Mike Ryan Ruiz on this episode of Football America! Final Hour Fun Fact. Quick Hits of today's big sports stories. Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh on finishing the season and taking on the New England Patriots in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs. Dead and Alive Guy Birthday of the DaySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Reaction from the New Year's slate of college football playoff games, Trae Young's trade value, and favorite memories of Sean McDonough in tonight's Arcand Fire.
The Nashua Telegraph's Tom King joins the show to talk about the Patriots landing as the second seed in the AFC, if Jim Harbaugh or Mike Vrabel has the edge over the other, and if Drake Maye will win the MVP.
Over the holiday break, Stefon Diggs and Christian Barmore were charged in separate incidents and Mike Vrabel seemed quick to dismiss them saying they're not disappointing. With his motivation all season long, it felt out of character to try and sweep this under the rug.
Arcand goes back through the 14-3 schedule the Patriots went through and picks the most notable games that defined their regular season.
Despite old names out of the picture, no one has really separated themselves in the NFL which is why the Patriots have just as good a chance as any other playoff team.
Even though it should be a closer debate, most are leaning towards giving the MVP to Matthew Stafford over Drake Maye just because of seniority. That is not a way to vote for MVP.
Supreme confidence from Jaylen Brown, NFL coaches suffering from Black Monday, and more crickets from the Red Sox included in tonight's Headlines.
The full edition of The Christian Arcand Show for Monday, January 5th, 2026.
In the first full Monday show in some time, Christian quickly turns towards the Patriots' and their playoff chances as the second seed in the AFC. With the Chargers resting starters in order to face the Pats, does anyone fear facing New England in their postseason trips? Then, the story remains the same of how wide open the NFL and AFC is which means the Pats' chances are just as high as anyone else. And, Christian looks back on the regular season and finds the games that meant the most during the year.
Charges against Stefon Diggs and Christian Barmore still linger and Mike Vrabel seemingly pushing it to the side raised some eyebrows. Why did Vrabel's answer and his messaging not line up to cause some worry? Then, friend of the show Tom King joins to give early thoughts on the Patriots facing the Chargers in the Wild Card round and who has the coaching advantage between Vrabel and Jim Harbaugh. And, Rhamondre Stevenson has totally turned his season around and should be praised more on how good he has been to end the regular season.
We start the third hour diving into tonight's Headlines featuring Jaylen Brown's monster stretch, a recap of black Monday in the NFL, and the Red Sox remaining quiet while the rest of the AL East bulks up. Then, an irrational fear of Arcand's strikes up following a story in Rhode Island in the New England Nightly News. And, Drake Maye leads quarterbacks in most categories, but adding to Matthew Stafford's resume seems to be why the Rams' QB is the MVP favorite.
The NFL remains wide open as the regular season comes to an end, but looking at next season shows a definitely tougher schedule for the Patriots. Why this year could turn out to be the best shot at making a Super Bowl with the unknowns of the 2026 season? Then, in Arcand Fire, a recap of the college football playoff, Trae Young asking for a trade, and honoring Sean McDonough's latest accomplishment. And, a list of the oddest objects to be found in people's butts from 2025 in Clickbait.
It's playoff time! The Boston Sports Journal's Mike Giardi returns to briefly recap the Patriots' win over the Dolphins, then break down how the Pats can best reach the Super Bowl. The guys cover what Drake Maye must do to overcome playoff defenses, how Mike Vrabel's defense can adjust and then take an early scouting look at the Chargers. Later, Mike and Andrew share another episode of Dad Pod and "Let Me Have It" before answering your mailbag questions. Pats Interference on CLNS Media is Powered by:
