While the Patriots haven't had any significant pass rush this season, the Chargers have been struggling with their offensive line thanks to injuries to both tackles so something clearly has to give.
Two local artists have created a Drake Maye anthem that's gone viral on social media in tonight's New England Nightly News.
A lot to discuss in tonight's Headlines including a reset on the firing of John Harbaugh, another MLB move that the Red Sox aren't a part of, and the Athletics looking for a new name when they move to Las Vegas.
Cowboys' owner wants to meet a lofty goal before he retires, breaking news comes across about a Trae Young trade, and much more discussed in the Arcand Fire.
Arcand is back and gets into the meat and potatoes about this Sunday's Chargers-Patriots matchup in the Wild Card. Who has the most to prove and who is facing the most pressure? Then, the weakest skills groups from each team will collide between New England's pass rush and LA's battered offensive line. And, between the common opponents both the Pats and chargers have played, New England has performed better.
During tonight's Headlines, Arcand tries to point the finger away from John Henry and more at Tom Werner. What should we make of a reported "willingness" to spend big by the Red Sox to get Alex Bregman back? Then, a shoutout to two local artists who are going viral for their own Drake Maye anthem in the New England Nightly News. And, diving into the rest of the NFL playoff slate and which games are the most compelling.
There's much more on the line than just a playoff win for the Chargers since Justin Herbert has already looked lifeless in both of his playoff losses. What's really on the line for Herbert and the rest of Los Angeles? Then, breaking news of a Trae Young trade comes across along with a new location for the 2027 Winter Classic discussed in tonight's Arcand Fire. And, in Clickbait, McDonalds is catching heat in a lawsuit accusing the fast food franchise of lying about the McRib.
The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed joins the show to talk more about Chargers-Patriots and the factor of weather and travel for LA, how Justin Herbert will do against the Pats' defense, and who has the coaching advantage between Jim Harbaugh and Mike Vrabel.
Even though he's only played in two games, Chargers' quarterback Justin Herbert has lost them both and didn't look great which labels him a choker...for now.
Bobby Bones and Matt Cassel recap their holidays that saw Matt returning with a beard after a ski trip and Bobby spending time in NYC. Mego and Turp end the show revisiting the Patriots' chances this Sunday to advance against the Chargers. Is New England the better team and how much of a let down would a loss be? Then, John Harbaugh is out as Ravens' head coach and Snoop Dogg plays the role of NBA announcer included in the Arcand Fire. And, who on the Pats' will need to step up in a big way against Los Angeles?
Mego and Turp react to the Ravens moving on from John Harbaugh, Trae Young's trade request, and Snoop Dogg on the mic during NBA action in the Arcand Fire.
The full edition of The Christian Arcand Show with Meghan Ottolini, Jon Lyons, and Justin Turpin filling in on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026.
With Arcand out sick, Meghan Ottolini, Jon Lyons, and Justin Turpin are in tonight to start looking at the Chargers side of the Wild Card matchup at Gillette this Sunday. How will the Patriots be viewed if they are a one-and-done thanks to LA? Then, Drake Maye's shine will dim if the Pats lose to the Chargers so much that he'll be viewed like his opposing quarterback Justin Herbert. And, Mike Vrabel was a candidate for the Chargers head coaching job before Jim Harbaugh was hired which makes us wonder how would both side look if Vrabel was coaching LA.
Mego, Lyons, and Turp get into some potential rumors regarding Josh McDaniels and the rest of the Patriots' front office. Will the offensive coordinator get a head coaching offer and will he actually accept it? Then, everyone should hope the holy trinity of Mike Vrabel, Eliot Wolf, and Ryan Cowden stick together in the Pats' front office otherwise it could all blow up. And, more has come out about just how aggressive the Red Sox are to bring back Alex Bregman, but either way both sides need each other and should make it happen.
With Mego and Turp in, some Celtics talk has to be included with the roll they're on thanks to Jaylen Brown. When the time comes for Jayson Tatum to make his return, will he be able to fit in to what Brown and the rest of the C's are doing? Then, in the New England Nightly News, a new bill is proposed to limit how much drivers can drive and travelers are stuck due to the Venezuelan conflict. And, all of the uncertainty from Stefon Diggs off the field plus the salary increase doesn't make him a slam dunk to return to the Patriots in 2026.
Christian makes the argument that more pressure is on Justin Herbert and the Chargers over Drake Maye and the Patriots which can be a benefit to New England.
Mike Florio gave a conspiracy thought that the Cardinals could make an offer to Josh McDaniels for their head coaching opening. Even if he has offers on the table, should McDaniels leave his current position with the Patriots?
A loss would definitely hurt the Patriots for the season that they've had, but if its a blowout or convincing win by the Chargers it would be worst-case scenario.
Its expected that Eliot Wolf and Ryan Cowden will return for the 2026 season in their same positions which should give Patriots' fans a big sigh of relief for how things worked out this season.
