Less than 24 hours after Apple's “Scary Fast”, MacVoices Live! convened the panel of Chuck Joiner, David Ginsburg, Jim Rea, Eric Bolden, Patrice Brend'amour, Ben Roethig, Jeff Gamet, Mark Fuccio and Kelly Guimont. The discussion starts with the presentation aspects of the event, then turns to the new iMac powered by an M3 processor and its consumers focus, returning to the iMac's original roots. That Apple's most powerful machines are now laptops is considered, as are the alternatives for those who want more, larger screen options. Screen resolution is debated, and the implications of the event being shot entirely on an iPhone 15 Pro Max were  examined. (Part 1)  Today's MacVoices is supported by MacVoices Featured Gear. We start off with the rumor mill with future Apple products coming down the pipeline but get distracted talking about 5G, potential death of the Touch Bar, and Dakota's brief review of the iPhone SE 2020. We then get back on topic to discuss how a new MacBooks might potentially transition to mini LED technology as well as hints of a new display from Apple (which would be a return consumer display in Thunderbolt Display from 2016). New iMacs and Mac Pro might be the next target for Apple silicone with a continuation of intel variant in the Mac Pro line. We then segue to the Atari VCS which is a weird conglomeration of a module computer, retro gaming console with a steep price tag. We are both are interest to see how it will turn out.

This week, we kick things off with a discussion of Apple's new iMacs and associated peripherals – Aaron has been using the new Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad and talks about his experience with them. We also discuss the surprisingly basic hard drives which ship with the new iMacs, and what this signifies about Apple's strategy for its lowest-tier products. Our Question of the Week is, "What should we be expecting from Apple's earnings next week?" and we discuss expectations for the iPhone, Apple Watch and other products, and what Tim Cook is likely to say about China. And our final topic is a quick run-through of the reviews of the new Microsoft Surface Book, which we discussed in some depth two weeks ago in Episode 18. As usual, we wrap up with our Weekly Pick, in which Aaron recommends a Bluetooth speakerphone he uses with his iPhone for conference calls.

Security!  We'll talk a bit more about securing your Mac and, more importantly, your data and your online profiles. You might have heard about a major security breach that affected a writer for Wired magazine recently. We'll talk about what happened (he was using a Mac, iCloud, iPhone, iPad and more) and how he might have avoided some of the problems and how some of it was beyond his control. We'll also discuss some techniques and utilities that can help you not only remember your login information but also help keep all your secret data really secure.  This is probably one of the most important topics we'll discuss all year.As we all know, Apple has an announcement coming up on August 12. Could it be iOS 6? Could it be a new iPhone? Could it be new iPods or iPads? New iMacs? New blenders?  We'll take a stab at guessing what might be released. And, of course, we'll go over some current events in the OS X world as well as review some cool Mac & iOS apps and leave some time for Q&A.
