Have you ever found yourself in a situation where learning felt like an uphill battle? Like no matter how hard you tried, the pieces just wouldn't fall into place?   Steve Krouse's story shows the power of the right learning environment. As a child, Steve felt he wasn't good at math. But everything changed with an afterschool program called IMACS. Initially skeptical, he soon embraced its creative approach, which encouraged self-paced learning.  At IMACS, Steve learned to think on paper, grasping math concepts through programming languages like Logo and Scheme. This confidence moved him from remedial to advanced math, sparking a love for programming and education.  Frustrated with traditional schooling, Steve dropped out of college to create engaging learning experiences for kids. His efforts led to tools like woof.js and the founding of Val Town, making programming accessible and collaborative.  Join us as we explore Steve's journey, revealing how innovative educational environments can unlock potential and transform identities. Conventional wisdom has long held that Apple Macs are more secure than their Windows counterparts – one of the reasons many people prefer MacBooks as business laptops, and iMacs for work and home desktops. Yet just because they may be better at security doesn't mean Macs are impervious: Check Point security researchers recently warned about Banshee macOS Stealer, which is new malicious software embedded in copycat versions of popular software like Chrome and Telegram. Banshee is hard to spot, and appears to encrypt itself using system tools like XProtect that help it avoid detection by antivirus tools. Once installed, it scours your Macs for browser credentials, cryptocurrency wallets, and other data that cybercriminals can sell or use to breach the devices of you or your company. As always, be careful about where you download your software. Update your operating system regularly to ensure you have the latest security patches installed. And don't hesitate to contact your company's technical support team if anything seems off. The 60-second "Security Nudge" is brought to you by CybSafe, developers of the Human Risk Management Platform. Learn more at https://cybsafe.com

#207: Maximizing growth with Web-to-App funnels with Anastasiia Karlova, Head of Marketing at PlantIn

Today, all businesses, brands and marketers are focused on mobile. It is no brainer - people spend two - three hours a day on mobile devices, so much of the action is there. And yet - we still use laptops and desktop computers. Ask yourself - why would Apple introduce the macOS Sequoia iPhone mirroring app if desktop computers weren't still relevant? We do work on our favorite MacBooks and iMacs, watch movies, plan our next vacation and so forth. It is just, for a few years since the iPhone was introduced, mobile was sucking out all the oxygen in the ad space. So, if you are an app marketer, for you the answer is clear - you need to work with both mobile and desktop ad spaces to grow your app's user base and generate revenue. Web-to-App advertising is what we'll be talking about with Anastasiia today. Today's Topics Include: Anastasiia's background About PlantIn Customized User Journeys Challenges in transitioning to a web-to-app funnel Internal tools and third-party solutions for ad campaign automation Android or iOS? Leaving her smartphone at home, what features would Anastasiia miss most? What features she would like to see added to her smartphone? Links and Resources: Anastasiia Karlova on LinkedIn PlantIn Business Of Apps - connecting the app industry Quotes from Anastasiia Karlova: "When we talk about customized user journey for apps, we are talking mainly about Web2App funnel. It could be based on a funnel with the questions completely based on the web or about the funnel that consists only one landing page and then push you to the store to download the app." "I think the best thing is that you don't need to deal with opt -in rates. You're just skipping that part because this is considering web campaigns and web experience. The limitations about iOS 14 are not working here. 190 euro. Verder praten we over Philips. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A long-running urban legend says that Mac computers are less likely to be compromised by malware than Windows systems. No more. Hackers have targeted users with attacks such as multi-factor authentication fatigue attacks – which use dozens and dozens of Apple ID password resets to annoy you into approving a password change. Then there's the unpatchable vulnerability that can break encryption on devices running Apple's M1, M2, and M3 processors. Or the LeftOverLocals security flaw, which lets hackers snoop on data in older devices. More recently, AppleInsider warned about complex attacks that exploit vulnerabilities in a part of macOS's security architecture called TCC, while Apple updated its spyware alert system to notify users targeted with spying tools like NSO Group's Pegasus spyware. To minimize your risk of compromise, enable Automatic Updates in your system settings, and ensure you update all of your devices – including MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones, iPads, and even Apple Watches – as soon as new software updates are available. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
