Today, I'm talking with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who is the world's best-sourced Apple reporter. Earlier this month, Apple hosted its annual iPhone hardware event, and this event was special, for a number of reasons. It was new Apple CEO John Ternus' first major product launch. It was also the debut of the foldable iPhone Duo. So I wanted Mark on the show to explain why this event was so important, and how John Ternus' Apple will look a lot different from Tim Cook's.
252 Bobby and Jon are back for another candid, unscripted Tailoring Talk Magazine catch-up, this time covering Bond First Light, Project Hail Mary, electric cars, Apple rumours, Netflix recommendations, Dune, Bentley track days and the continuing saga of Jon's broken Nissan.Bobby and Jon return with another unscripted Tailoring Talk Magazine ramble, beginning with the upcoming Bond First Light game and somehow ending up with Apple rumours, folding iPads, Bentley track days, Netflix spy dramas and a Nissan dealership fire. This episode starts with a proper Bond and gaming catch-up as Bobby and Jon talk about why gaming has become therapy, why First Light might be the closest thing to new Bond for a while and whether the new 007 game looks more like Hitman, Uncharted or something in between. From there, things move into Project Hail Mary, including Bobby and Carolina's trip to see it at the BFI IMAX in 70mm, why the film has become such a rewatchable favourite and why some stories deserve to be seen on the biggest screen possible. There's also a healthy dose of electric car chat, including Bobby's early verdict on the new MINI, automatic parking, EV range anxiety, Jon's Kia EV3 plans and the truly ridiculous latest chapter in his long-running Nissan saga. Also discussed: Apple Focus Modes, using tech to separate work and home life, the BFI cinema experience, Billie Eilish cinema chaos, Dune, Denis Villeneuve's future Bond film, Netflix recommendations, The Boys, Daredevil Born Again, Bentley track days, Apple racing livery, the rumoured iPhone Fold and whether a folding iPad would actually make more sense. As always, it's candid, chaotic and completely unscripted.Timestamps / chapter markers00:00 - Hello, bonjour and guten tag00:32 - Bond First Light is almost here01:10 - Gaming as therapy and Bobby's Bond fix02:17 - First Light gameplay: Hitman meets Uncharted03:11 - Marathon, Pragmata and Final Fantasy on Switch04:42 - Is the new Bond too chatty?05:39 - Bluff mode, NPCs and Bond problem-solving06:25 - Bond outfits, DLC and the deluxe edition08:31 - The gold Bond controller09:28 - Largale Ray's Bond-style title sequence10:40 - Project Hail Mary at the BFI IMAX12:20 - Why Bobby loves Project Hail Mary so much13:01 - Seeing Project Hail Mary in 70mm15:20 - Blu-rays, streaming and owning films properly16:05 - Speed Racer in 4K17:54 - Carolina's Project Hail Mary obsession19:17 - Jon's Amazon hedge trimmer confession21:01 - What to do when Amazon refunds something that later appears22:45 - Bobby's MINI EV verdict23:53 - Advanced parking and automatic reversing25:58 - Jon's broken Nissan saga continues27:14 - The dealership fire and the Ombudsman case29:21 - MINI software updates, games and ITVX in the car30:30 - Kia EV3 and CarPlay Ultra31:01 - Bobby's MacBook Air and work-life separation31:40 - Apple Focus Modes and separating work from home33:57 - Cinema etiquette and switching phones off35:13 - Why the BFI audience experience is better36:39 - Dune Messiah and Denis Villeneuve39:00 - When will the next Bond film actually arrive?41:37 - Legends on Netflix and spy drama recommendations43:02 - Netflix value, Three Body Problem and Rebel Moon45:22 - Daredevil Born Again, The Boys and Disney Plus46:29 - Bentley track day and factory tour plans47:29 - Phil Schiller's Apple racing livery48:00 - iPhone Fold rumours49:02 - Folding iPads and naked iPad use49:58 - WWDC, Vision Pro and Steam gaming rumours50:52 - Wrapping upJames Bond, Bond First Light, 007, Project Hail Mary, BFI IMAX, electric cars, MINI EV, Kia EV3, Apple, iPhone Fold, WWDC, Dune, Denis Villeneuve, Netflix, The Boys, Daredevil Born Again, gaming, PlayStation, Tailoring Talk Magazine, Roberto Revilla, Jon Evans Hosted on Acast. You'll come away from this episode with a faster, smarter iPhone and Mac workflow dialed in. You learn how to boss Siri around for brightness, Dark Mode, CarPlay directions, and per‑source audio levels, so your phone actually behaves in the car and on the couch. You tap into power‑user gestures like two‑finger‑tap to open links in a new Safari tab, Quick Actions to spin anything into a PDF, and Option‑click display rotation on the Mac. You even get sneaky with ad‑supported games by flipping Airplane Mode, and peek at where on‑device AI is heading with tools like Locally AI from the SXSW “more personal computer” session. Then you shift into solving real listener problems so your Apple gear finally stays in sync with you. You clean up contact groups, fix that iPad Mail inbox that doesn't match your other devices, and fight back against toll‑free robocalls. You hear which iPhone cases and glass protectors the geeks actually trust, plus protection options like Verizon Home Protect and automation tools like Crank to trigger actions based on what you're doing. The whole way through, you're reminded of the Mac Geek Gab mantra: Don't Get Caught missing the tweaks, tricks, and Cool Stuff Found that make your Apple life smoother. 00:00:00 Mac Geek Gab 1134 for Monday, March 23rd, 2026 March 23rd: World Math Day MGG Monthly Giveaway – Enter to win a copy of SoundSource from Rogue Amoeba! In this episode, Phil describes his business journey and how he found the focus that made him successful. After struggling for several years, he was ready to quit - but he didn't. He shares some of the most important steps he took to reach his goals. One of those steps was taking up improv, which has given him more empathy for himself and his clients. It has allowed him to let go and stop getting in his own way. He's been able to bring this approach to his students and clients as well - to help them relax and enjoy learning. In this episode of Discover Daily, we explore four fascinating developments in technology and innovation. We begin with Apple's groundbreaking partnership with OpenAI, which will see the integration of ChatGPT into Apple's operating systems. As part of this collaboration, Apple executive Phil Schiller is set to join OpenAI's board as a non-voting observer, putting Apple on equal footing with Microsoft in OpenAI's governance structure. This move highlights the growing importance of AI collaborations in the tech industry and could transform how users interact with Apple devices. We then shift our focus to the environmental impact of AI, examining Google's challenges in balancing technological ambitions with sustainability goals. The tech giant's carbon footprint has increased significantly, primarily due to energy-intensive data centers dedicated to AI training. Despite these challenges, Google is actively working to enhance energy efficiency and transition to carbon-neutral energy across its operations by 2030. Our third segment covers Tesla's Q2 2024 delivery numbers, which exceeded analysts' expectations despite a year-over-year decrease. We discuss the breakdown of deliveries across Tesla's product line and look ahead to upcoming events that could shape the company's future, including a highly anticipated "robotaxi" unveiling. Finally, we delve into the progress of the ITER fusion reactor, focusing on its complex magnet system designed to confine and control super-hot plasma. We explore the specifications of various components, including the central solenoid and toroidal field coils, and discuss the challenges faced in manufacturing and assembly. While the project has encountered delays and technical issues, it continues to push forward, aiming to demonstrate the feasibility of fusion as a future energy source. This episode underscores the rapid pace of technological change and the complex interplay between innovation, environmental concerns, and scientific ambition.More from Perplexity Discover feedPerplexity is the fastest and most powerful way to search the web.
