Nichole Smith and I are still soaring from all the wins we counted at Global Pet Expo, where we re-introduced the pet industry to Animalhaus Stock Photography.  Global Pet Expo is one of the biggest pet-industry trade shows and to get in, you have to be either an exhibitor or a buyer. It is seriously exclusive and we were granted access to more than 1,000 pet-related businesses from around the world.  The response was overwhelmingly positive! Not only were they super excited about the stock photography available on the site but there was also one big clincher for many of those businesses: our new match-making service where we make it SUPER easy for them to hire commercial pet photographers by matching them with alumni of our Commercial Pet Photography Academy (more details on that soon).   As if that wasn't enough, we also invited three photographers from our recent class of Commercial Pet Photography Academy alumni to join us and kick-start their own commercial photography aspirations. Amanda, Angela, and Jennifer were voted by their peers to have the biggest breakthroughs from the course and that's how they got their golden ticket to Global. While there they were unleashed to network with all of those businesses and use the knowledge they gained in the course to go home with huge successes, including some contracts to start negotiating!   On today's Hair of the Dog podcast, Nic and I take you behind the scenes of Global. We chat about all those wins and the future of the commercial pet photography industry.  What to listen for 8:19 The three ways pet-related brands can work with Animalhaus 14:21 The surprising thing pet brands know they need in their images 18:20 How our guest photographers booked clients at the show 26:43 Why you should explore commercial pet photography  32:14 Why you shouldn't explore commercial pet photography   Are you ready to expand your pet photography business and break into the world of commercial pet photography? At 19, J. Nichole Smith adopted a Great Dane and soon found herself knee deep in the world of pet photography. After a trademark licensing agreement left her with over $50,000 in debt and the brand she partnered with never delivered, she moved into the world of retail. She opened physical brands in Los Angeles and London, but soon discovered that her dream businesses didn’t make her happy. Now, at Working with Dog, she helps other “petrepreneurs” find their why and build niche brands. She guides them on their personal growth journey, stops them from developing what she calls Shiny Object Syndrome, and has helped build thriving businesses successfully and repeatedly across a number of different markets. Today, J. Nichole joins the podcast to talk about why serial entrepreneurship is a marathon and not a sprint, how to stop fear from getting in the way, and why building a business - and overcoming any challenge in life - help you understand yourself in ways you’ve never allowed before. Nichole Smith at CarePartners Senior Living says that surprisingly, a majority of financial abuse comes from family members. We often have so many red flags that families are squirreling away money. When a person loses their safety awareness, of course they trust their family more than anybody else, and family members may be making decisions which they think are in the best interest of their loved one, but later down the line it may make it so they can't get on a state Medicaid program because they've gifted money within the last five years.

This week I'm having a really deep, juicy, thought-provoking conversation about branding with my guest, an expert brand consultant J. Nichole Smith. Brand is so much more than your logo and your website color scheme, it's a path forward that is making us feel much more aligned with our businesses, and we're really getting into that today. From what kind of message you want to send to the world, to how you want to spend your day – all these things are being used to create your brand and your business. I know a lot of wellpreneurs who created businesses that unfortunately don't quite feel right, and I've struggled with this myself for a while and you end up offering a product or a service that you don't really like to deliver. But as solopreneurs creating businesses that we're not absolutely wild about simply does not make sense, so we're going to try and prevent that in today's episode. We're also going to talk about emotions and vulnerability and how using our own personal experiences can help us create a brand that's really aligned with us. Nichole also offered a wide selection of items that are going to help you get started with your own branding (or review existing brand), and you can download those from the link below in the show notes. This episode originally aired on The Wellpreneur Podcast.Get the full show notes with links: https://wellpreneur.com/build-brand-that-matters-with-j-nichole-smith/Copyright 2012-2020 Wellpreneur Ltd.
