In today's episode we have a conversation with Janet Livingstone, founder and CEO of Culture is Key, a consultancy devoted to leadership development, executive coaching and team effectiveness. What makes her model different is the focus on hybrid, remote, geographically and culturally diverse teams trying to build culture in a virtual environment. As many of you have experienced the "black box" of teleconferencing, it can make a difficult process more challenging when you don't have the advantage of observing body language and other visual cues we take for granted.Janet is truly a world traveler and speaks five languages, something that always blows my mind. Lest you think she's another cookie-cutter consultant, she's also very focused on leading with humor, something she utilizes in her own podcasting background (check it out).Get your ears on and give us a listen as we discuss that tricky, fuzzy, amorphous thing called "culture."HR Hardball, the podcast was launched in October, 2020 to explore the connection between Human Behavior and Human Resources. With an FMCSA regulatory update session just concluded at MATS, one thing that stood out was that the agency didn't mention a plan to advance a rulemaking around its safety rating system for motor carriers. FMCSA Associate Administrator Larry Minor, however, speaking to the specialized carriers' Specialized Transportation Symposium just a month ago, revealed potential to begin a rulemaking process to possibly change the system as early as this year. Should the three-tiered Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory, and Conditional rating system remain? Minor asked SCRA attendees, characterizing the fundamental early question any move toward a change would ask. Or: Should a two-tiered, "Fit or Unfit" system be adopted? That's what some small fleets and associated advocates have been calling for for years, as so very many have sat in that Conditional limbo -- some even for decades -- after an adverse review, despite efforts to improve. It's only gotten increasingly difficult to then get FMCSA out to any carrier's site to do the only thing that can result in a Satisfactory rating in today's system -- a fully comprehensive on-site audit, generally, though there have been limited exceptions to that rule, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic: https://www.overdriveonline.com/regulations/article/15064263/dotissued-safety-ratings-more-scarce-in-2020 In today's edition of Overdrive Radio, we'll hear more from Larry Minor in his talk at the symposium early this month to specialized carrier attendees. As it concerns FMCSA's failure to mention the safety rating issue here at MATS, ongoing through Saturday, April 1, maybe regulators believe owner-operators really could care less about ratings and how they're conducted. It's safe to assure them they're off the mark, there. While few one-truck owners with authority are likely to ever be rated, the same business issues that arise for small carriers from a Conditional rating -- difficulty doing business with many brokers, to name one -- hits them equally. The smallest of small carriers, too, like holds less capability to get the feds back out to their place of business for a follow-up audit to potentially move them back to the Satisfactory category. We'll hear from Minor also on the DOT's National Roadway Safety Strategy and FMCSA's place within it, about how the Entry Level Driver Training program is going, about getting that program more effectively interoperable with state licensing agencies, about the late-fall ELD regs questions asked, about the notion of Universal Electronic ID for every truck (asked for by CVSA). And speed limiters, of course, and changes to Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse reporting requirements of states. Also in the podcast: Drop for a bit of fun, too, with Rob Howes, executive vice president and chief testing officer of the company that bears his name, Overdrive Radio sponsor Howes. A bit more lengthy talk over interesting results of a Howes company survey we'll visit in a later podcast, but Rob filled us in for this one on just what's happening for the company here at MATS, likewise plans for the next Howes Hall of Fame announcement. Hear Overdrive Radio's interview with owner-operator Angelique Temple, the last member inducted, in the December 9, 2022 edition: https://www.overdriveonline.com/overdrive-radio/podcast/15304180/hazmattank-veteran-driver-now-on-her-own-meet-angelique-temple

Keying in on the changes and steps as men they can all take to be better friends, husbands, dads and role models for younger generations. Not shying away from his shortcomings and mistakes over the years, he acknowledges the wrongs he did personally and professionally but is proud of who he is today. The guys talk about men in position to succeed and allowing the weaknesses of women, sex and ego take away from the hard work is the biggest mystery to him as they talk about the recent situation with Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka and the lessons that can be learned. Infamously known for his hot takes and wide open opinions on celebrities that would trigger negative reactions, Charlamagne tells the guys that it has never been his intention to rile people up, he was just always speaking honestly and saying the things everyone thought but was afraid to say. Never giving up on his dream, even after being fired several times, the years of experience and relationships led him to creating a media empire and recently being inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame, Charlamagne reflects on his path and recognizes to Fred, Channing, and Ryan that there are definitely things he wishes he could redo or should have held back on when speaking on others lives and careers but the biggest compliment to him is acknowledging the growth from that place to where he is now. Although he had and currently has what others consider the “perfect life”, Charlamagnes opens up and shares with the guys that there were very dark times and there was always this undiscovered void to fill. Influenced at an early age by his surroundings and environment, Charlemagne was on the verge of self-sabotage due to infidelity and substance abuse until he made the Pivot seven years ago to attend therapy which has been life-changing. Therapy and counseling have always been frowned upon in black communities and Charlamagne has set out to change that philosophy and instill a new approach with one of seeking help and preventing activities to promote self sabotage instead of encouraging it. Fred also shares his struggles of anxiety over the years and how therapy has helped ground him and offer him alternatives to get through certain situations which he shares hoping to help others in similar situations. On today's episode of Locked on Oilers, we take a look at three replacements for Evander Kane on the top line, including Connor McDavid's old teammate, Dylan Strome. What would Strome bring to the team, and would his familiarity with Connor McDavid benefit the Oilers? Plus, could a former Edmonton Oiler and Stanley Cup Champion also be a potential replacement for Evander Kane? And, it seems like Connor Brown is on his way out of Ottawa, with Edmonton being a front runner. Who could the Oilers send in return for Brown, and why will it break my heart? How to Split a Toaster: A divorce podcast about saving your relationships
Deborah DriggsToday we're talking with Deborah Driggs. Her experience with divorce, trauma and recovery has fueled her across the career landscape — from model to actor to sales to motivational speaker. She joins Seth and Pete in the Toaster to share the story of divorces in her own life – first her parents' and later her own – and to explore how she learned the power of taking risks, staying positive, and offering help to those who need it.Her divorce sent her down some dark rabbit holes and it's taken a long time to get out. But she has. Deborah talks about getting out of rejection and moving forward. She made the decision to not take ‘no' for an answer, and that largely means from herself. That mental focus has put her in a place where she's able to help others work through their own negativity and heal. It's a powerful story of peaks and valleys but always leading toward peace and healing.Links & NotesDeborah's websiteDeborah on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and FacebookSchedule a consult with SethGot a question you want to ask on the show? Click here!Deborah's BioFrom her start as a Playboy Centerfold and Covergirl to her life as a Screen Actors' Guild member and then a top-rated insurance industry professional, Deborah Driggs has had to clear many hurdles in life to make it these things happen. And while it may seem like Deborah's success came easy to her, nothing could be further from the truth. Rather, she's overcome a number of challenges in her life to get to where she is today but what is true, and a part of her character, is her willingness to take risks, maintain a positive attitude, and never take ‘no' for an answer.Deborah grew up as a latch-key in a broken working - class home but before her family fell apart, her earliest dream was to become an ice-skating athlete and to compete in the Olympics. From the age of seven when she first put on ice skates, Deborah was willing to practice each morning from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. and then again, after school, for several hours a day to master her figure eights.Unfortunately, her dreams came to an end when her parents divorced and she and her sister and mother were separated. All throughout high school, she worked at minimum wage jobs to pay for her clothing, school supplies and necessities as her father did not provide any financial support. Her first job was working in a flower shop at a cemetery, then as a fast-food waitress and a drugstore clerk. As these jobs took their toll on her ability to do her schoolwork, her grades fell and her almost dropped out of high school. However, she was able to negotiate a solution with her teacher and managed to graduate with the rest of her class. This was her first experience with learning to never to take “no” for an answer.Pursuing her interest in dance, Deborah won the audition to join the USFL cheerleading squad in their first year and then went on to join a professional dance company touring Japan. After that ended, she returned to Los Angeles and began her modeling career which led to the famous Playboy audition. This audition was a major game changer for Deborah. After being asked to pose as a centerfold, she was then invited to also grace the cover of the, then, leading men's magazine in the world for the March and April 1990 issues. These two projects launched Deborah's “star quality” and led to new opportunities as a Video Jockey (VJ) for the Playboy Channel's “Hot Rock,” and appearances in several rock videos. In order to improve her acting ability, Deborah signed up for the two-year Meisner Acting Techniques program at world-renown Baron Brown acting studio. After completing that program, she went on to new roles in TV and film as a member of the Screen Actors Guild.Marriage and children then followed and for a while, Deborah put aside her acting career to focus on her family. However, when her marriage ended, she found herself having to support her three children. Returning to the working world, Deborah took whatever jobs she could find in her new home of Park City, Utah. Over the next five years, she served as the manager of a day spa and then a residential realtor for the second home market -- until the market crashed in 2008.Realizing that she had to reinvent herself, Deborah took a big risk: after a chance meeting with an executive in the print procurement industry, she asked for the opportunity to try her hand in global print sales. For this, she used her wealth of contacts in the entertainment business to open doors for this company, and then followed that up with her persistent winning attitude. Her meetings with high-level power brokers paid off, almost immediately, and she was able to turn her part-time position into the role of Vice President of Business Development within a year, making inroads that the company had never before achieved.Deborah's transition into the insurance world started off in the same vein – with a challenge to herself. Despite her personal insecurities about being new in the business, Deborah put in long hours of study. Keying into her business contacts in the entertainment arena, she began to build her book of business very rapidly. By the end of her first year, she was a top producer, followed by ongoing years of membership in the Million Dollar Roundtable, Top of the Table, and as a contributing member in Leadership for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU).Deborah's clients have included movie studio moguls, celebrities, Fortune 500 leaders, and high net-worth individuals. From what she has learned in her ten years in the insurance industry, and from where she has come, Deborah's goal is to provide financial guidance to her clients, treating each with respect and remaining available for their needs.Over the past two decades, Deborah has worked on her inner reserves, as well, participating as a member of Tony Robbins' Platinum Lions Partnership. She has lent her support to a number of nonprofits that make a difference in people's lives, including: Richard Branson's Virgin Unite, Go Campaign, Operation Underground Railroad (#OURrescue), Cut50, Reform Alliance with Van Jones and in funding a school in Peru.On January 11, 2020, Deborah began sharing her winning business strategies in a talk she calls, “Not Taking No for an Answer,” as part of “Unblinded: The Business Breakthrough Game Sales Mastery Immersion Event.” Since then, she has appeared on a number of podcasts, YouTube and Facebook Live interviews and as a motivational speaker for other virtual events. Dedicated to helping women breakthrough negative, self-talk and take on any challenge to which they set their minds, Deborah knows how much of a difference it can make to have a helping hand when one needs it the most.

Corbin Kimberling, the ITSM Change Manager at Sage Therapeutics, knows that the process in change management and being proactive is key to change management success. Along with host Justin Lake, they go over ways that successful change can help those on the frontline, as well as the role empathy plays in understanding the struggles of the deskless workers. Takeaways The biggest issue facing the deskless workers today is the communication gap between those in upper management and the frontline workers themselves. The people who create changes to new applications and infrastructure have the best intentions for helping those on the frontline but they don't understand what they really need. Companies that don't have a change management department are often being more reactive to change rather than being proactive. Frontline workers greatly appreciate communication in the field. It makes their lives and jobs easier and better. You need to have processes in place to have successful change, but you also need a process in place in case of emergencies. Incomplete Testing is when a change in a product is tested but only to see if the change works, not how it interacts with the rest of the product. Quote of the show: 4:33 “People that create these new changes to applications, new changes to infrastructure, their intention is to help out and to make it better. A lot of times what's causing these changes are the people that are on the frontline. They're sending in a ticket saying, ‘hey, it'd be better if it worked here.' And I think the assumption is, well, if I go out there and change that everyone's going to celebrate me and I'm going to be great. It's gonna be awesome. And they forget exactly what they've asked for. But that was one person and that one person, may be in a specific place where they may not understand what all the other people are going through.” Links LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/corbinkimberling/ Company Website: https://www.sagerx.com/ Ways to Tune In: Amazon Music - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/2f4ecd92-6468-4769-b0bf-254e236510b7/FRONTLINE-INNOVATORS Apple Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/frontline-innovators/id1572329402 Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/29m3wnK8pbFjdSvJ9wjmyS Stitcher - https://www.stitcher.com/show/frontline-innovators Google Play - https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZnJvbnRsaW5laW5ub3ZhdG9ycy5jb20vZmVlZC54bWw YouTube - https://youtu.be/xYtyLvG8a6Y

The fifth and most recent of her novels Suburban Souls, tells a tale of Jewish German Holocaust survivors in 1970s San Francisco. Using her life experiences as a catalyst, American Book Award winner Maria Espinosa shows that despite tragedy, we can be resilient and still bring joy and happiness into our lives. Keying in on her own love-rage relationship with her mom who had an affair with her husband in one novel, Maria's latest book Suburban Souls, brings the Jewish experience and her trials in a mental institution to the forefront. Concerned with human communication on a level that transcends the norms permitted by society, her novels focus on the subtle as well as the obvious forces that shape a human being.

This week's DMRNC's you will see a party divided as they lick their wounds from Casius' brush with death. The pirates continue searching the lodge at the cliffside and find its former inhabitant...or perhaps we should say he finds them! GM Notes Pathfinder 2nd Edition Conversion Notes (SPOILERS BELOW): So this week had another ghoul in it, and a new creature that was converted from rules in the PF2E Bestiary and from the original PF1E Adventure Path of Skull and Shackles. The Botfly Swarm is an extremely frightening enemy in first edition, especially if you could not deal the all important area effect damage. In second edition swarms are resistant to most damage but are still defeatable with normal means. I enjoy that a great deal, and the Botfly swarm was created here to mimic the Mosquito swarm from a few episodes back. Keying these combats in so that they are potentially deadly but still not impossible is always a trick, but I think the players realize now just how hard they can be if they don't take the time to heal and rest. I am excited to move on next week into a new scenario and see how this stacks up with the climax of book 1 of the AP!
