Improvisational genius/comic actor Pat Finn is on this very special episode! Pat and I have been collaborating together for almost 20 years making on Valley Toyota spots, and it's always a blast. Agency folks always like casting actors that can improv, but Pat is next level. And he happens to be the one of the top three nicest humans in Hollywood. From sitcoms "Seinfeld" and "The Middle" to films "It's Complicated" and more, Pat Finn creates memorable characters on screen and a lasting impression in person. Pat shares hilarious stories, like sneaking into an improv class at Second City with Chris Farley. You'll learn what it's like to work with this comedic genius up close. Directors, take notes because Pat gives some great advice for us on how to get the most out of improvisors.. Even after all these years in the business, I'm still learning from Mr. Finn. So whether you're an aspiring actor, seasoned director or just love a good laugh, this is an interview you don't want to miss. Retreat Curious? In this episode, Pat Finn and I continue our off-the-cuff exploration of the significance of fine jewelry, including a pretty sweet story about Pat's late friend, the legendary Chris Farley, and his love of gift-giving. We get a little sentimental, but it's cool, because that's one of the unexpected powers of jewelry: it can connect us to our past and the people we love the most. Jewelry is more than just shiny trinkets, and we talk about how fine jewelry becomes physical representations of unforgettable moments and intense emotions. Okay, yeah...it's a bit deep, but you won't need a tissue. No tears were shed in the recording of this episode. This isn't about sad stories. It's a more of a quick reality check about why jewelry is, in fact, a necessity in our lives. Grab a drink, sit back, and decide if you agree with us. Mark and Pat open the show by talking about how they met many years ago while working on Shop Till You Drop together. Pat goes on to talk about buying a radio station and the support he gave to Mark when he was starting out. Mark and Pat then get into a conversation about the power of intention and how fear can affect it. After that, Mark asks Pat about his company Rubicon Results Institute, which helps empower people to operate at their highest potential. This leads to an interesting discussion about procrastination and how to overcome it. Wednesday, March 24th will mark one-year since golf was first suspended due to the virus known as Covid-19. Since then, golf has opened and closed between lockdowns with players around the country missing out on the best part of six months' golf. Both clubs, and members have suffered through this pandemic but both rely on the support of one another more than ever to come out the other side of a dreadful time for the industry. In that spirit, to help golfers everywhere better understand the current state of the industry and where we go from here, we thought it would be a good idea to invite some representatives from all corners of golf in a special edition of the podcast. We don't know when golf will be officially back, but we manage to answer many of the questions that have been circling social media in recent weeks. Former GUI CEO, Pat Finn was the man in the hot seat when Covid-19 first hit Irish shores and he explains the challenges the Union faced when coming to terms with this unpredictable pandemic. The Managing Director of Carr Golf Services, Ed Pettit, whose team is charged with the running of 19 golf clubs around the country, discusses the various impacts Covid-19 has had on the industry as a whole. Director of Golf at Ardglass, Paul Vaughan gives us an insight into how the absence of an overseas travel market has hurt operations at the club while Lucan Golf Club General Manager, Mark Ruddy talks about how the domestic market has reacted across the year and the challenge clubs now face to convince members that their loyalty is needed now more than ever. As ever, we hope you enjoy the listen. Let us know what you think.
