There were 278 different events the attendees could sign up for.  178 Total RPG events. 85 RPG events 26 Pathfinder events 67 Dungeons and Dragons Adventurers League events Pathfinder Society: Salt of the Ocean Multi Table Event In the Eye of Abendego, the storm has receded just enough to reveal two particularly interesting new sites: one is a wrecked Pathfinder ship and the other an ancient island associated with prophesiers and demons. With some help from an old pirate friend, the Pathfinders are kitted up in order to investigate these two new occurrences, however it seems like she wasn't the only pirate with her eyes on these strange new prizes. The Society will have to face the dangers of sea and storm as they sail to their goal, hoping to beat their rivals to the hidden secrets! This event was played with multiple tables running simultaneously, at multiple level tiers. The Pathfinder Society came out victorious! D&D Adventurers League: Hold Back the Dead Multi Table Event The Adventurer's League had some close calls, and not everyone made it out alive this time... but the dead have been vanquished. For now.  Hold Back the Dead is a multi-table Dungeons & Dragons adventure where heroes must defend a stronghold under siege by an overwhelming undead force. As the tide of the dead rises, players work together across tables to uncover the source of the invasion and prevent an ancient evil from breaking through. Designed for epic coordination and tense decisions, it blends horror, heroism, and high-stakes combat in a dynamic battlefield setting. Playtests for new RPG systems were available at SaltCON Summer with the highlights being  Untold RPG and  Nephilim the Forsaken, brought in by local game designers.  SaltCON End of Summer will have a stronger focus on prototype RPG systems and welcomes game developers to join the SaltCON GameMasters Guild on Discord or Facebook to learn more about bringing their systems to the convention. Everyone that I spoke to that was learning for the first time was excited to get the game, and play some more! TPK! Total Party Kill!  Well almost on the last episode. We bring in new player Brooke Elyer from the emmy nominated Twitch series Artificial Next. Barely escaping death at the hands of the Minotaur tribe and watching their brother and ward be murdered, Ren and Luna arrive safely back in Absalom. Damaged and haunted by the trauma they've been through, our young characters dig into their studies as they make the city their new home. Fast-forwarding two years, after officially graduating confirmation into the Pathfinder Society, our new young Pathfinders are given their first mission outside of the gates of Skyreach, but first they must travel back to their home city of Oppara and reconnect with an old family friend to receive a Pathfinders most prized possession, the WayFinder.  How to become a pathfinder? The city of Oppara?

Guest Star Maclain Nelson playing "The Captain" leads the adventurers through a deadly beach battle.  A Dragon Turtle just wrecked their ship and they are stranded on a beach with strange birds and animals.   The Captian's addiction to "Eagle's Splendor" might get the best of everyone.   LDR Season 3 is an all-new story taking 3 of our heros from season 1, Viv, Oroc and Therman, and sending them back to Golarian from the bone yard as Pharasma has given them a second chance to be born again and learn from their mistakes as new souls. But rebirth from an old soul is never easy and second chances hard to come by! Cast out as newborns our heroes are orphaned, only to be taken in by a Pathfinder clan in Taldor and schooled in the ways of the Pathfinder Society. Witnessing an “Event” during “confirmation” in Absolam, their first Pathfinder mission changes everything and leads them to the very brink of fate as they question all that they've been taught! Facing significant challenges and threats, their Path will ultimately lead them to Cheliax where once again they'll meet their destiny while encountering a world ending threat that must be destroyed. What will our beloved characters do, where will the next path take them… will they ever truly find peace or find their way to make it home again!

In a sandbox game - the players know there are unproportional encounters. In a plot-driven game there usually isn't an element of fear for the lives of the PCs. If you're planning on deviating from these assumptions - talk with the other players. Use this to provide the party with clues that makes it clear that the enemies are too dangerous. Knowledge that was gained using effort is more valuable than knowledge just told to you by the GM. You'll take it more seriously. Someone who has a name can be talked with. They might be useful, maybe they have a place in the story. There's something going on here, and that thing that doesn't have to be combat. Whatever gives expereince points is the thing that the players will try to achieve; don't give XP for defeating enemies. Make it clear that things aren't always as they seem. Have a kobold with 15 levels of fighter - after this fight, they'll know this world can have dangerous kobolds. A fight that damages them in a way that isn't hit points - reputation, disease, make the wrong people angry. A quick way to make people more important: show that they're connected to a bigger organisation. (You just need to have an organisation ready) They must be vulnerable to something, even if they're already not afraid for their lives. If the players fear devils, use devil-like details when describing other things you want them to avoid. ### What to do if the party did attack? (24:20) Defeat is worse than death. “Drain their levels, take their loot” - not as punishment, but as a deterent. In an after session discussion (ASD), ask them why they attacked, and try to understand their motivations. ### The Neon Sign (25:25) Don't be afraid to use big flashing neon signs saying: “Do Not Attack!”. It's possible that you haven't synced the imagniery world! Death shouldn't come as a surprise.
