The podcast is here! If you want to check out the reveal, click the link and you'll just go there and see it. Thanks to Evan of The Anigamers and AlexanderCase for being my and Pat's Santa, respectively. ----- A lot of stuff happened, but it all means that this won't come out on time. I at least like to have a placeholder so AGC didn't have to update the post after I finally finished it though, so here it is. Thanks to Vinnie and Diego of AGC for organizing this in the stead of the OGs, the Reverse Thieves. I watched Tatami Galaxy and SSSS.Gridman. Patz (@PatzPrime) watched Otherside Picnic. And Chris (@gokuffy) forgot to sign up, but he asked Kate to randomly pick three anime from his shelf, so he ended up with Shiki, Santa Company, and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. So in a way, Ink was his secret Santa. Hopefully the actual episode will be up before the new year, but no promises. Join the unofficial Taiiku Podcast discord, the OSMCast discord. Listen Show notes: 0:30 - Chris talks about Shiki 17:18 - I talk about Tatami Galaxy 28:19 - Patz talks about Otherside Picnic 36:19 - Chris talks about Santa Company 42:38 - I talk about SSSS.Gridman 58:02 - Chris talks about Dusk Maiden of Amnesia Next time is top anime

The Chicago Bears are a bad football team, and Justin Fields is the hope for the future of the offense. Matt Nagy I still think is a good head coach (given that he hasn't really lost the faith of his players, it seems, until like this season even though they've been bad for a while), but very obviously a bad playcaller. I hope to one day see Justin Fields tear up the NFL. Anyway. This episode, it's the holidays again, and that means its time again for AGC's (and thanks to the Reverse Thieves for the inception of the idea and for running it for so many years) Anime Secret Santa podcast! Chris (@gokuffy) and Pat (@PatzPrime) join me again to see what Santa gave us this year. And this year, Santas gave us some gems. I talk about Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and Weathering with You, Pat talks about GoShogun: The Time Étranger, and Chris talks about ODDTAXI. Listen Show notes: 0:45 - We go through what we're talking about. 10:20 - I talk about Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro! 21:35 - Pat talks about GoShogun: The Time Étranger! 36:08 - I talk about Weathering with You! 54:35 - Chris talks about ODDTAXI, non-spoiler section. 1:04:57 - Questions! 1:22:08 - ODDTAXI, spoiler section! In Primal, a caveman and dinosaur travel alongside one another through the unrelenting nature of prehistory. Director Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack), in a true return to form, ups his minimal dialog ante by almost completely eliminating it and leverages his visual storytelling expertise to evolve the bonds between the travel companions as they face omnipresent threats both natural and supernatural. Along with Genndy Tartakovsky Correspondent Kate from the Reverse Thieves, Jared and Ink discuss the highs and lows of the series and speculate about where Season 2 might lead.

Listen Show notes: 0:30 - Chris talks about Mai Mai Miracle! 16:20 - I talk about Girlish Number! And a bit of Galaxy Angel. 25:48 - Patz talks about ACCA! Next time is top anime of 2020!
I usually talk about sports to lead into the rest of the post, because I have a lot of random quick thoughts about sports that I want to rant about on Twitter or whatever, but they're too long for a tweet. Instead, I'll write about writing about things, having run out of sports things to write about. And also, between first Gundam The Origin manga and now Giant Gorg, I am very generally interested in the rest of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's stuff. It's that time again, time for Anime Secret Santa! This time it's from All Geeks Considered, and big thanks to Vinnie and Diego for organizing it all. And thanks to Kate and Al for organizing the prior iteration on the Reverse Thieves for so long. This is a project I always have a lot of fun with, and I'm glad it's living on somewhere. This year, Chris (@gokuffy) and I are joined by Patz (@PatzPrime) to talk about some anime! I chose Giant Gorg out of my three, Patz chose Zombieland Saga, and Chris chose Robot Carnival. There's even surprises within. Listen Show notes: 0:30 - I talk about Giant Gorg! 17:23 - Patz talks about Zombieland Saga! 44:18 - Chris talks about Robot Carnival! Next time, we probably start our best of 2019 shows!

There are several reasons why Higurashi When They Cry consistently finds itself on so many must-watch series when October rolls around, but that doesn't mean that it's a show for everyone. Listen in as Jared and Ink are joined by AGP's @QX20XX and Reverse Thieves' Alain Mendez to dig into the origin and makeup of this iconic series about a series of gruesome murders and mysterious disappearances in the small village of Hinamizawa. If you've yet to see the series, there's a spoiler-free section, and if you have seen the series, there's an indulgent, spoilerific section that follows. Enjoy!

We're doing a Type Moon thing! And who better to help us on our exploration of this very memorable eight-plus-part OVA series about a paranormal investigation agency than Alain/Hisui of Reverse Thieves infamy. After exploring a bit about how this property came to be via the general leanings of its creators, we dive into each of the OVAs as they are presented (non-linearly). Garden of Sinners is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

For their first Reverse Thieves Secret Santa entry, Jared and Ink stare into the bleak and violent landscape of Casshern Sins. This reboot of the 1973 anime Casshan follows an immortal, amnesiac robot named Casshern, whose initial act of violence brought death to the doorsteps of humans and robots alike. As Casshern interacts with the dwindling population, he learns more about what it is to live and what it means to be truly alive. Be warned: we do not hold back on spoilers in this episode. Thanks to the Reverse Thieves for organizing this wonderful project, and thanks to George (The Land of Obscusion) for the recommendation!

Once again Evan roped a bunch of his podcaster friends into a post-Otakon episode. Reigning Ani-Gamers Podcast champions Al and Kate (@hisuiRT, @narutakiRT, Reverse Thieves), Carl (@sdshamshel, Ogiue Maniax) and Patz (@PatzPrime, The Cockpit) discuss the anime convention's new Washington, DC location, their favorite and least favorite fan panels, the premieres of Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution and In This Corner of the World, and the Jam Project/T.M. Revolution concerts. David was going to show up but unfortunately couldn't make it this year. Topics include: the song Rescue Fire from the show Rescue Fire, the most annoying Gundam character Yoshiyuki Tomino, and REAL ANIME Reddit. Apologies for the audio quality; the show was recorded on a portable recorder. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! Show notes, links, comments, and more can be found at http://anigamers.com/podcast.

In 2001, Genndy Tartakovsky's Samurai Jack stunned audiences with ambitious and beautiful visual storytelling, a mostly stoic hero, and perhaps the world's best (if not most lovable) villain. Samurai Jack ran for four seasons (52 episodes) but was cut down in its prime. This Emmy-winning cartoon, which had a largely episodic structure (save Jack's building frustration), sadly never got to finish the tale of the samurai. Films were teased and planned, but sadly nothing panned out … until recently. Samurai Jack returns as of March 11, 2017, and we at Oldtaku no Radio cannot be more ecstatic. In celebration, we're taking a break from analyzing Japanese cartoons to analyze an American one … that just so happens to draw inspiration from/references, among other things, Japanese film directors, animation, and culture. For the second half of our Samurai Jack episode, special guest Kate (Narutaki) of the Reverse Thieves blog/podcast joins us in squeeing over and wringing the most we possibly can out of a fantastic cartoon from the early aughts. This installment covers our favorites and flubs for Seasons 3 & 4 as well as what we're hoping for in Season 5. As the creators grew in competence throughout the series, so our analysis grew not only in insight but silliness. (Hey, this was a 3+ hour podcast.) Listen and comment. But most importantly, watch Samurai Jack!

We’re back again with the Reverse Thieves‘ Anime Secret Santa! In 2014, I wrote about Hyouka, and in 2015, I wrote about Mawaru Penguindrum. Now, I’ve got Chris (@gokuffy) on the podcast and we’re discussing Gankutsuo and Shimoneta. Opinions are varied on these shows… Thanks, as always, to Kate and Al of the Reverse Thieves for organizing this for however long they’ve been doing it. Always love to be a part of this! Listen Show notes: 0:30 – We start the show and talk about the other shows we could have watched, but didn’t! 7:00 – I talk Gankutsuo! 25:07 – Chris talks Shimoneta! Next time is Ink (@AnimatedInk) and I talking about Ping Pong Girls and Keijo!
The crowd at the Cannon Busters premiere at Otakon. Evan, Clarissa, Gerald, and Daryl are up in front. Evan and David went to Otakon 2016, but David got an early train out of town, so Evan had to settle for a huge supergroup of podcasters and bloggers in this post-Otakon show. Daryl Surat, Gerald Rathkolb, and Clarissa Graffeo from Anime World Order; Alain and Kate from the Reverse Thieves/Speakeasy; and Carl from Ogiue Maniax sit down to discuss their favorite and least favorite parts of Otakon 2016, and the future of the convention as it moves to Washington, DC in 2017. Topics include: accidentally winning eating contests, Koji Morimoto impersonators, and the presumed lowlight of the weekend, the GamerGate panel (“Politics in Video Games”). Direct Download – RSS Feed – iTunes – Send us Feedback! – More episodes Runtime: 1 hour, 25 minutes Show Notes Opening Song: “Blues Machine” by Scott Gratton Some of the guests we discuss include LeSean Thomas (creator of Cannon Busters), Koji Morimoto (producer of Under the Dog, not to be confused with the famous animator of the same name), and Muneki Ogasawara (head of studio Kinema Citrus). Masao Maruyama (founder of Madhouse, head of MAPPA) and Jiro Ishii (writer and creator of Under the Dog) had to cancel at the last minute. Daryl references Erin Finnegan briefly. She’s one half of the now-dormant (and excellent) Ninja Consultant Podcast, but people might not recognize her since they’ve been gone for so long! Twitter: Ani-Gamers, Evan, Gerald, Daryl, Clarissa, Kate, Carl, Alain Daryl, Gerald, and Clarissa host the Anime World Order Podcast. Al and Kate blog at Reverse Thieves and host anime podcast The Speakeasy. Carl blogs at Ogiue Maniax. Evan hosts the Crunchycast podcast on Crunchyroll. Evan, Daryl, Gerald, and Clarissa write for Otaku USA Magazine. Ending Song: “Blues Machine” by Scott Gratton
Vinnie was originally going to release the Castle Point Anime Con discussion first, but with Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact showing up on Crunchyroll last week, this got priority! Thank you to the Reverse Thieves for being a great audience!

Way back in early May, The Reverse Thieves stopped by to chat about different versions of Days of Future Past. We discuss the original comic, the X-men 90s cartoon, and an episode of Superhero Squad
OK no I get it this just an OH LOOK THE OSMCAST JUST JUMPED THE SHARK joke just waiting to happen but I DON’T CARE so THERE. It’s only a couple of days, perhaps even less of 2013, so we decided to send of the year with an extra supplemental episode of the OSMcast, covering the extra DLC case for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, the case Turnabout Reclaimed. Our uh, I guess glorious leader Basil is joined once again by Alain aka Hisui from The Reverse Thieves blog as well as The Speakeasy podcast as well as Mark aka Passion Tentacle from The Oriental Cartoon Show podcast. So come listen on as we talk about killer whales lawyers, and most importantly, penguins. Because penguins are the best. OSMnotes SCREW YOUR SHOW NOTES! HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR, INSTEAD! This, we COMMAND.

In this episode, I’m joined by indie comics writer Rachel Pandich and anime blogger/podcaster Kate (a.k.a. Narutaki) from the Reverse Thieves to discuss Western (i.e. non-manga) comics that appeal to anime and manga fans. We also talk about New York Comic Con and Masaaki Yuasa’s Kick-Heart Kickstarter, which is about to hit its deadline TONIGHT (10/30) after reaching its goal a few days early. For years we have languished under the oppression of our ANNCast overlords, who refuse to even record a podcast at the East Coast’s largest anime convention, Otakon. So, with the help of our fearless captain Ed Sizemore, an intrepid team of Otakon pirate podcasters — including yours truly — have hijacked the Anime News Network‘s popular podcast to talk about Otakon 2012. Unfortunately the audio recording is one iteration away from Alvin Lucier’s “I am sitting in a room,” but I guess it’s in keeping with the pirate theme. Show notes and links after the break. DIRECT DOWNLOAD – RSS Feed – iTunes – Send us Feedback! – More episodes (Runtime: 43 minutes) [0:00:00] Intro: “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” [0:00:16] Everybody introduces themselves. First off is Justin Sevakis (@worldofcrap), our captive ANNCast host and the founder of Anime News Network. Then there’s Michael Camacho (@GNitro) and Scott Spaziani (@ScottSpaziani) from Otaku in Review, The Big N (@TheBigN) from Drastic My Anime Blog, Alain Mendez (@hisuiRT) from the Reverse Thieves, Ani-Gamers’ own Evan Minto (@VamptVo), and Daniel Briscoe (@DanielBriscoe) from Eastern Image. Ed Sizemore (@edsizemore) from the Manga Out Loud podcast forgot to introduce himself, but he’s hosting. [0:18:12] We discuss the city of Baltimore and the weather (seriously). [0:21:33] Otakon culture! The infamous Ice Cold Water guy! Memes! [0:30:32] How safe is Baltimore? It has a reputation as a pretty dangerous city. [0:34:44] We talk about nearby restaurants, the huge number of attendees at Otakon, and their effect on the Baltimore economy. [0:41:05] Justin drops some final comments about the con before we close out the show. [0:43:25] Outro: “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)”
REPOSTED FROM THE REVERSE THIEVES: In this edition of Crime Scene Investigations, we talk about our experiences on Sunday at AnimeNEXT 2012. The podcast contains the opinion of Hisui from this very blog (but no Narutaki who is too cool for you anyway), VamptVo and Ink from the AniGamers, and The Digital Bug from Reisen Goes to School by Bus all in one roundtable discussion. There are Bronies, Bluebirds, Interrupting Cows, and Rudolf von Stroheim. As always we have lots of good things to say as well as some constructive criticism. Also seriously: What was up with people at panels this year? Is courtesy no longer common? This is a bonus segment of the Speakeasy Podcast we like to call Crime Scene Investigations. These are random bonus podcasts that we record live from various events. There is no regular schedule for these. We will put them up as quickly as we can when the opportunity for one occurs. We suspect they will mostly be from conventions but we might work in some interviews and conversation from NY events as fate allows. REPOSTED FROM THE REVERSE THIEVES: For a long time now, a seemingly unusual relationship has existed between the anime and manga fans and the industry that brings anime and manga to us. Fans just as often foster a healthy relationship with these companies as they go out of their way to maliciously hurt them. The anime and manga industry have the same beautiful but painful courtship with their fanbase. In this episode, we muse on how both sides treat each other. Phillip (http://twitter.com/eeeperschoice) from the Eeeper's Choice Podcast (http://eeeperschoice.com) came on the help us talk about this complicated issue. Can the industry and fans be friends? Should they be? RSS Feed http://reversethieves.libsyn.com/rss iTunes Feed: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/reverse-thieves/id471589713 Visit the Blog: http://www.reversethieves.com
This is the most desu podcast on the Citadel We did a podcast for the beginning. We did a podcast for middle. It is now time to release our podcast for the end. Of Mass Effect 3, anyway! Basil and Twitterless Kevin is joined up with Hisui from the Reverse Thieves to cover the highs, the lows, and everything in between on defeating the Reapers once and for all. And yes, we even cover the ending. OSMnotes Protip: And despite recording before the DLC was announced, we even called it! Special super duper awesome thanks goes to Hisui for not only chatting with us, but also editing it as well! The man deserves a medal. So hit up their website and check out all their SWAT reviews for all the new anime of the season! Next time we will FINALLY release the long lost episode on a certain Ghost Rider film that was in theaters for like, a week. It will be the most timely thing ever!
It's like Chris Cason is going, "Here. have a podcast. On me." Back in the ye olden days of June 2011, we got to talk to one Chris Cason at HAMACON 2. Who is this mysterious Chris Cason, you ask? Why he’s a voice actor and ADR Director for Funimation Entertainment. He’s done several roles for Funimation, such as Gluttony in Full Metal Alchemist, Mr. Popo in Dragon Ball Kai, and Holy Roman Empire in Hetalia: Axis Powers, among others. He’s also done ADR work on such series as School Rumble, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, and YuYu Hakusho. It’s good times. But don’t take our word for it! Have a listen. OSMnotes Hope you all enjoy the interview, and once again thanks to Chris Cason for talking to us. But that’s not all! Next Monday we’ll be linking to the Reverse Thieves‘ Crime Scene Investigations podcast segment all about the Friday at Otakon, as sort of the precursor to when we’ll be talking about Otakon on Saturday night on the OSMcast proper with guest podcast buddy and No. 1 Saber fan, Hisui. But wait you say? You want to hear that NOW?! Well you can! For you see, the Reverse Thieves have already posted it! We’ll just be re-posting on Monday as a crazy double dip scheme.
We didn't record anything at Genericon 2011 ourselves, but we did sit down for an interview with the Reverse Thieves for their podcast, The Speakeasy. We basically disrupted whatever was planned. Visit www.animeworldorder.com for full show notes and supplemental links.
According to Lee: "The blue lines aren't because I drew it on notebook paper. They are in fact the enemy robot's barrier shield that the OSMrobo is ripping through." As we all know, the first thing you do in a new year is to look back at the previous year, unless you have a decade to deal with. So to ring in 2011 we have got the first half of the 2010 OSMawards! In this just-shy-of-two-hours BEHEMOTH of a podcast we tackle the “passive” media of 2010. TV shows, movies, anime, novels, stuff you consume but don’t interact with… pretty much everything expect video games. So strap in, get some nice hot cocoa a warmin’, and listen to us yammer for a while! Bonus: And gaze up the MAJESTY that is OSMrobo that Lee drew while recording. His fists are fists of JUSTICE. And awesomeness. OSMnotes Bonus props to Narutaki of Reverse Thieves for rising to the challenge letting us know her picks via Twitter to help us fill in the gaps! If you’s also like to your thoughts in on a particular subject before we record, just keep an eye out for Basil’s twitter feed. Usually the day of recording or so, he’ll be asking for input. Speaking of asking for input, Basil was invited onto the Chainsaw Buffet podcast to further talk about the year 2010, which he did with gusto. Keep an eye for it!

So I asked a question, no one answered. So i said, why bother waiting for the answer? As of now I'm keeping track of episodes the normal way. Sure it was cooler to have seasons, but it was more or less just a harder way to count things. So, now on episode 43, I tackle Vampire Hunter D, the first film, second book, and then Bloodlust. Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Hisui and Narutaki Topic: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (both Season 1 and R2) (2006) In part two of the Reverse Thieves' podcasting extravaganza, I chat with them for a lengthy hour-plus podcast about the 2006 TV anime Code Geass, from studio Sunrise. The show, a modern take on the classic 50-episode Sunrise mecha formula, follows the events of a political and military revolution, masterminded by the exiled prince Lelouch Vi Brittania. We get pretty in-depth regarding the series, so a massive SPOILER ALERT is in effect throughout the episode. Let us know what you think of the episode, and please feel free to chime in with your own thoughts on Code Geass in an e-mail or the comments thread. Show notes and links are after the break.
Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Hisui and Narutaki Topic: What'cha Been Doing? The Reverse Thieves are back for a podcast double header in episodes #029 and #030. In this episode, I talk with them about the latest anime, manga, and video games we've checked out, and in episode #030, we'll be discussing the anime series Code Geass. Oh yes, and this episode's intro announces the winners of our Black Jack giveaway. Check it out to find out if you've won! Anyway, check out the show notes after the break.
Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Hisui (Alain) and Narutaki (Kate) Topic: Shjo anime that appeals to guys This episode is also called "The Answer is ALWAYS Golgo 13!" Today I am joined by the Reverse Thieves, a blogging duo that has probably been on this show more than recommended by most physicians, to discuss shojo anime specifically the kind that can appeal to boys as well as its traditional target audience of girls. The four series up for discussion are Ouran High School Host Club, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Rose of Versailles, and They Were Eleven. I have no idea what's going on for next episode, but I can say that Mitchy has been playing Assassin's Creed 2 and I plan to do the same very soon, and we are both itching to talk about Sword of the Stranger. We'll see what happens... next time on Dragonball Z the Ani-Gamers Podcast!

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Erin and Noah Topic: New York Anime Festival 2009 Recorded live from the 2009 New York Anime Festival, this episode features none other than the fearsome anime podcasting couple, Erin and Noah of the Ninja Consultant Podcast! We talk about what we did at the convention and delve into some totally off-topic conversations that may or may not be completely enthralling. You decide! Next episode will feature Al and Kate from the Reverse Thieves blog as we tackle shjo anime that appeal to male viewers. It's already recorded, and I can guarantee that it's going to be a pretty fun show.

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Brigid Alverson, Alain a.k.a. "Hisui," Kate a.k.a. "Narutaki," Scott VonSchilling, Greg Topics: New York Comic Con 2009 Recorded on the last day of the New York Comic Con, this episode has four other bloggers and Evan talking about our experience at the con, our favorite announcements and events, and our opinions on the state of the anime and manga industries. This was literally a blogger roundtable, as we were bloggers sitting around a round table in the press room. The guests include the folks from Anime Almanac, MangaBlog, and Reverse Thieves. You might notice that Evan forgets to introduce himself at the beginning. For those who are new to the podcast and can't figure it out on their own, he's the EIC of the blog and the host of the podcast.

Hosts: Evan "Vampt Vo" Minto, Alain a.k.a. "Hisui," Kate a.k.a. "Narutaki" Topics: Fate Tiger Colosseum Upper (Game-PSP), The Daughter of Twenty Faces [or Chiko, Heiress of the Phantom Thief] (Anime-Sub) We've got a really short one this time, as the Ani-Gamers Podcast is invaded by Hisui and Narutaki (real names Alain and Kate) from the Reverse Thieves anime blog. These two are here to talk about some overlooked gems from 2008 - including the Capcom game (featuring Type Moon characters) Fate Tiger Colosseum Upper and the BONES anime The Daughter of Twenty Faces. Oh, and see that litle "part 2" in the title? That means that you should listen to podcast #011a, since this episode is sort of a continuation of that one. Sort of. And before anybody asks: yes, Alain and Kate are talking about things that were not released in America, even though our Best of 2008 write-ups had that as a requirement. It's fine - it's not like we're giving out any official awards here.
