Born in London Canada in 1949, Jim Chapman has been blessed with a life full of challenge and adventure. He was signed to Columbia Records in New York in 1968, played bass in rockabilly legend Ronnie Hawkins' band and toured across the eastern U.S. and Canada for years fronting several groups of his own. By 1973 he was the president of a major recording studio (Springfield Sound) where he honed his skills as a songwriter, studio musician and producer. He was also a partner in a successful artist's management company, the owner of a full-service advertising and promotion company, and the founder of London's first successful musical jingle production company. Health issues forced him to retire from the business world in 1980 and with his new wife Carlyn he went back on the road as an entertainer for much of the decade. The couple later returned to London, built another recording studio, and ran a profitable radio/TV musical jingle company and communications consultancy with clients like Kraft General Foods, Ontario Hydro, ParticipAction, The Ontario Senior Games, The Government of Canada, The Detroit Tigers' London farm team, and many others. From 1992 until 2012 Jim was a prominent London-based public affairs newspaper and magazine columnist and radio/TV broadcaster. Prior to his retirement in 2017, Jim had also been working as a professional writer and business consultant for more than a decade. In 1999 he died of a massive heart attack and had what is often referred to as a Near Death Experience Brought back to life in the ER, after a long recovery he wrote two books about the experience and lectured about it across Ontario and as far afield as New York, Dallas, and Seattle. He also appeared on the ABC, CTV, TVO, and Discovery television networks, on the BBC and CBC radio networks, and on dozens of radio stations and podcasts. In the early 2000s he also returned (from time to time) to his first love, performing as a singer and instrumentalist, headlining a number of concerts as well as performing in several bands. In 2023 he created “The Jim Chapman Show”, a live songs and stories performance geared to Baby Boomers. It was an almost instant success, and Jim has performed it at dozens of venues including concert halls, banquets, churches, private gatherings and Seniors' Homes, with engagements booked into 2025. In 2024 Jim put together a weekly musical show at London's Unity Centre, and it continues to entertain audiences with performances by top London-area musicians every Wednesday evening. He has released three albums of original songs and his ninth and latest published book, “Battle Of the Bands” is a combination history of London's music scene in the 50s and 60s and his own sixty-year musical career. Jim's books and CDs are available through The Bookstore, elsewhere on this website. Jim and Carlyn Chapman have been happily married for 45 years and they share their cosy retirement home with two loveable little dogs, Jo-Jo and Molly, and an elderly gentleman cat named Mr. Punkin. www.jimchapman.caBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.
JoJo has her Nature tick book, pencil and magnifying glass at the ready to explore outside with Gran Gran in this song about the world and the creatures that surround us.
A left-wing social media influencer, Jo Jo from Jerz, just freaked out live on Piers Morgan uncensored after he asked a basic question: "What is a woman?" I break it down in this clip from the Brad vs Everyone podcast. Plus, Democratic politicians spew absurd racism allegations, a viral story shows the horrors of DEI gone too far, and more. How can being highly sensitive be a gift rather than a burden, and how do we learn to embrace and navigate that sensitivity in our lives and work?In this episode, we dive into the world of bodywork and healing. Jo is an experienced Osteopath whose journey has taken her beyond physical health and into the realms of emotional and spiritual. We explored how we can create a safe space for ourselves - and our patients - to surrender, trust and come home to our bodies. Jo shared how she navigated and still navigates her path as a highly sensitive being and it can be a gateway for deep transformation. If you're someone who identifies as highly sensitive or if you're curious about how shamanic practices can be integrated into modern therapeutic work, this episode is for you. Tune in to hear Jo's powerful insights and learn how you can navigate your own healing journey with more softness, trust, and confidence - and meet the fear of being “weird” or “witchy”! Read more about Jo: Jo initially earned a degree in Fine Art before retraining as an Osteopath, inspired by her own positive experience with osteopathic treatment for back pain. She has been a practicing Osteopath for over 17 years. In addition to her clinical work, Jo lectures at the European School of Osteopathy and serves as a personal tutor and student mentor.Jo's specialist interest lies in working with the effects of trauma and stress, whether stemming from physical or emotional causes. During her exploration of trauma responses, she encountered the shamanic concept of "soul loss," which sparked her interest in shamanism and indigenous healing practices. Since 2019, Jo has been training in psycho-spiritual and therapeutic shamanism, focusing on integrating shamanic techniques into modern therapeutic settings.Jo is also deeply committed to supporting her fellow osteopathic colleagues in leading happy and fulfilling professional lives. She is currently training to become a supervisor, aiming to guide osteopaths towards a more confident, joyful, and fulfilling practice. In this conversation we talked about: * Jo's journey from Fine Art to Osteopathy: How her personal experience with back pain led her to explore the healing arts — and why understanding that sensitivity doesn't equal shyness has been key. * Exploring sensitivity as a strength: Jo shares her own healing journey as a sensitive person, coming to understand her emotional and physical sensitivity as a powerful tool rather than something to be "fixed."* How Jo meets trauma and stress in her clinical practice: Jo introduces shamanic practices and explains how she integrates these ancient techniques with Osteopathic treatment to address trauma and emotional blockages.- And so much more … :-) Receive my free mini course: From body shame and disconnect to joy and into the fullness of your creative power: - www.flurinathali.com/ ---The Soft Rebellion Podcast is created and hosted by Flurina Dominique Thali. An old friend of Maino joins the show to talk a bit about her broadcast history. Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor talks about being the first female traffic reporter in Metro Detroit back in the day. She tells the story of the station she worked at that was just over the border in Canada, CKLW. Her stories of being at a powerhouse radio station back in the day were extremely interesting. We actually received requests to have her back on the show, and Todd thinks she should fill in one morning when the guys are off! We found a great website that offers some great background on Jo-Jo. The excitement on the show continues when we welcome Colleen Rortvedt with the Appleton Public Library to the show. After a very large construction project, the library is about to reopen with expanded space and programs. They have the grand opening planned for Saturday, February 15th. Maino is excited to use the new card catalog. Maino and the Mayor is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 6-9 am on WGBW in Green Bay and on WISS in Appleton/Oshkosh. Using a knife and sanitized cutting board, cut the butter into 1-ounce cubes. In small batches, pulse the flour mixture and butter in the bowl of a food processor until the mixture resembles a coarse cornmeal. Return mixture to stainless steel bowl. Add roasted sweet potato to the food processor; pulse in the buttermilk. Make a well in the center of the flour & butter mixture; using a stainless steel spoon, fold in sweet potato buttermilk mixture just until the dough comes together. Turn out the biscuit dough onto dry, lightly floured work table; bring together and knead twice. Flatten the mound of dough, with hands or rolling pin, to two inches in height. Cut biscuits using 2” biscuit cutter, and place next to each other on sheet pan. Bake for 9 minutes in full size electric convection oven Remove biscuits from the oven and, working quickly, brush the tops with heavy cream and sprinkle with turbinado sugar. In this this episode, we talk with publishing veteran, raconteur, and all-around Man About Town, Ronald Koltnow. An Akron native, now living in Boston, Ron has long been interested (ie, obsessed) with our area's nationally known delicacy: Barberton Fried Chicken! So much so that he literally wrote the book about it. Exploring its Serbian origins, the immigrant community that popularized it, and yes, just how it's prepared, Koltnow answers the question: What makes this dish so distinctive, and just plain good to eat? (Don't forget the Jo-Jo's and hot sauce!). Along the way, Ron has some hilarious stories and general life wisdom from his career in the book trade. Listen Thursday, 11/14, at 10 pm on The Summit FM, 91.3…. Or wherever you get your podcasts!

Have you ever wondered how a rebellious teenager could transform into a social media virtuoso with a fiercely loyal following? JoJo from Jerz, better known as Joanne Carducci, joins me to unravel this enigma, showcasing her rise from high school nonconformist to internet sensation. Our candid exchange reveals the turning points and life choices that propelled both of our careers, despite our diverse educational backgrounds. JoJo graciously shares her trials, including being left behind as peers graduated and her self-made redemption through community college, before eventually finding her voice and audience online.Jo and I then uncover the profound influence of authenticity in a world that thirsts for genuine connection. I relate my experiences of navigating life's curveballs, learning from missteps, and emerging with a commitment to personal truth. As we wade into the deeper waters of our discussion, the compelling force of vulnerability shines through, proving its capacity to eclipse traditional power structures in forging meaningful bonds. Then, the focus shifts to the weighty mantle of responsibility we bear as influencers. JoJo recounts her evolution from casual content creator to a purposeful voice countering fake news and misinformation. We dissect the legacies left by family politics and the need to craft independent beliefs, with a dash of humor through our characters, Kenneth and Becky Sue, who personify generational political divides. As we draw to a close, the conversation embraces the human longing for connection, highlighted by a personal anecdote with President Joe Biden that epitomizes the power of presence. We emphasize the importance of every individual's voice, equating the value of your personal narrative to the impact of your vote in our democratic tapestry. JoJo's 'Are you F-ing Kidding Me?' Newsletter stands as a testament to the change one can inspire through passion and authenticity. Tune in for an episode brimming with humor, honesty, and a poignant reminder of the power within us to navigate the stormy seas of social discourse.Support the Show.
