Joe Camilleri is one of the most influential and enduring figures in Australian music, and in this episode he shares the remarkable story behind a career that has spanned more than six decades. From his early life as a migrant child growing up in Melbourne to becoming the driving force behind Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows, Joe's journey is filled with passion, persistence and reinvention. In this conversation, Joe reflects on leaving school at a young age, working tough jobs, and finding his identity through music. He talks about teaching himself to play, learning by ear, and the formative years performing hundreds of gigs with bands like The Kingbees. As his musical interests evolved, Joe embraced the saxophone and began shaping a sound that blended blues, rock, jazz and soul.He opens up about the rise of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, the challenges of recording and finding success, and the intense pressures that came with fame. When the momentum slowed, Joe faced a difficult period that ultimately led him to rethink his path and start again. That reinvention came with The Black Sorrows, a band that would go on to define a new chapter in his career. With the support of Elvis Costello and a creative partnership with Nick Smith, Joe found renewed success and international recognition through a string of hit songs.Today, Joe continues to tour and create, driven by a deep love of music and a desire to keep evolving. This episode offers a candid and inspiring look at the life of an artist who has truly lived through the highs and lows of the industry and emerged with a story worth telling.

On Feb. 23, 2020, 6-year-old Joseph “Jo-Jo” King III was found unresponsive at home with his stepfather. The initial explanation was simple: he had accidentally suffocated inside a toy chest. But the toy chest was not airtight. Parts of the scene were wet. And the autopsy was later amended to include “concern for possible homicidal drowning.” Still, the manner of death remains undetermined. Jo-Jo's stepfather is in prison for abusing him less than a year before his death, but no one has been charged in connection with how he died. So what really happened inside that house? Discograffiti is the deep-dive podcast for music obsessives. Host Dave Gebroe talks with Spirit biographer Ryan Gabrinetti about the classic psych band's entire recorded output, with commentary, stories, and star ratings for every release. Part 4 covers the period that kicks off the most interesting era of the band, as far as Discograffiti sees it. Here are just a few of the many things that Ryan discusses with Discograffiti in this podcast: The chaotic events that led to the band's break up; The formation of Spirit side act Jo Jo Gunne, which eventually seceded from Spirit and enjoyed success of their own; A brief rundown of the Jo Jo Gunne discography; The one-off iteration of Spirit without Randy California in it, which thankfully produced only a single record, whose closest comparison point is The Velvet Underground's Squeeze; The manically inspired beginning of Randy California's solo career, and the underrated masterwork that came out of it; And an in-depth deep dive on every song off Spirit's Feedback and Randy California's Kapt. Kopter And The (Fabulous) Twirly Birds. Laurent and Gerard sit down with Jo-Jo Hubbard, CEO of Electron, to explore why the centre of gravity in the energy transition is shifting decisively toward the distribution grid. Jo-Jo explains why the “last mile” is becoming the true engine of system flexibility, how demand at the edge must become a core resource, and why DSOs aren't confused about flexibility at all — they simply respond to the incentives regulators design. Flexibility, she argues, isn't replacing grid reinforcement but making it smarter, helping utilities target and sequence investments far more efficiently at a time when distribution upgrade costs are rising quickly. We discuss how to escape the sector's obsession with endless pilots, and why real scale only arrives when year-round, rules-based products give suppliers and aggregators the confidence to automate and invest. The conversation then turns to the economics of location — from REMA to zonal pricing — and why congestion at the distribution level is where flexibility competes most effectively with copper. Jo-Jo also lays out what it takes to get millions of households engaged without overwhelming them, making the experience effortless, automated and consistent across retailers. She breaks down the hardest parts of the DER orchestration stack, noting that the real challenge isn't cloud infrastructure but standardising how device capabilities and network constraints are described across a patchwork of utilities. Looking ahead to 2030, Jo-Jo argues that no single asset class “wins”: value depends on time, place and service, with EVs likely providing tens of gigawatts of potential flexibility but orchestration remaining the true hero.We cover the future of interoperability and open data — not via global standards, but through adapters and translation layers similar to those that shaped the internet — and examine the cybersecurity demands of cloud-based orchestration as it becomes critical infrastructure. Jo-Jo also gives a global view of progress, from Australia's rapid adoption to the US's accelerating regulatory push and Europe's mix of strong TSO-level progress but uneven local action. She closes with reflections on whether the centralised grid is dying, who should ultimately control DERs, whether blockchain still has a role, and what a nightmare scenario looks like in a DER-dominated world.A fast, clear, and deeply insightful conversation on the rise of flexibility, the reinvention of the distribution grid, and the technologies and rules needed to orchestrate millions of devices.

Jo Jo Siwa BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Jo Jo Siwa has been making international headlines in the past week for both her high-energy performances and her headline-grabbing interaction with fans. Fresh off her Infinity Heart tour's UK leg, Siwa drew a spirited crowd in Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, London, and most recently Cardiff, where she performed on October ninth. According to The Cardiff Tab, a highlight from the Cardiff show went viral when a couple got engaged near the stage, prompting the 22-year-old singer to react in her trademark candid style, exclaiming, “Who to who?” before offering the happy couple a congratulatory t-shirt. Siwa's tour performances have been a showcase of her evolving artistry, featuring live drum playing and the now-iconic ‘Karma' dance, capitalizing on the streaming success of her singles "Karma" and "Bette Davis Eyes," both presently trending across TikTok and Spotify. The Cardiff Tab reports her follower count now towering above seventy million, cementing her as a powerful Gen Z entertainer and influencer. She's not without controversy. The biggest story this week surrounds her decisive action at an October 1 Glasgow concert, where she asked two fans to leave after they wore hoodies featuring a meme about her hairline. As reported by PinkNews, Out, and a headline-grabbing video clip on TikTok, Siwa told the crowd, “We only got room for infinity hearts in here, right? Not in my house, baby.” The incident exploded online, sparking debates about celebrities' boundaries and bullying. The fans, who later apologized in a TikTok that's racked up millions of views, said they intended the hoodie as a joke and had no idea it referenced an old insecurity of Siwa's. The virality led NBC News, People Magazine, and New York Post to run features on the fallout. Siwa's visible emotional response was widely supported by her fanbase and LGBTQ+ community, with many commenting in solidarity about her addressing childhood bullying head-on.On the business side, AOL and multiple ticketing outlets confirmed booming ticket sales following the tour announcement, with shows selling out quickly across the UK. Her social media this week has been dominated by celebratory clips from packed venues—she's posted audience singalongs and dance routines that are quickly being remixed by fans. Speculation persists about future US dates and potential new music, but as of today, no formal announcements have been made.Overall, Jo Jo Siwa's week has blended major tour milestones, a viral engagement, headline-making concert drama, and a sustained social media presence that keeps fans—and the press—firmly in her orbit.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI
Born in London Canada in 1949, Jim Chapman has been blessed with a life full of challenge and adventure. He was signed to Columbia Records in New York in 1968, played bass in rockabilly legend Ronnie Hawkins' band and toured across the eastern U.S. and Canada for years fronting several groups of his own. By 1973 he was the president of a major recording studio (Springfield Sound) where he honed his skills as a songwriter, studio musician and producer. He was also a partner in a successful artist's management company, the owner of a full-service advertising and promotion company, and the founder of London's first successful musical jingle production company. Health issues forced him to retire from the business world in 1980 and with his new wife Carlyn he went back on the road as an entertainer for much of the decade. The couple later returned to London, built another recording studio, and ran a profitable radio/TV musical jingle company and communications consultancy with clients like Kraft General Foods, Ontario Hydro, ParticipAction, The Ontario Senior Games, The Government of Canada, The Detroit Tigers' London farm team, and many others. From 1992 until 2012 Jim was a prominent London-based public affairs newspaper and magazine columnist and radio/TV broadcaster. Prior to his retirement in 2017, Jim had also been working as a professional writer and business consultant for more than a decade. In 1999 he died of a massive heart attack and had what is often referred to as a Near Death Experience Brought back to life in the ER, after a long recovery he wrote two books about the experience and lectured about it across Ontario and as far afield as New York, Dallas, and Seattle. He also appeared on the ABC, CTV, TVO, and Discovery television networks, on the BBC and CBC radio networks, and on dozens of radio stations and podcasts. In the early 2000s he also returned (from time to time) to his first love, performing as a singer and instrumentalist, headlining a number of concerts as well as performing in several bands. In 2023 he created “The Jim Chapman Show”, a live songs and stories performance geared to Baby Boomers. It was an almost instant success, and Jim has performed it at dozens of venues including concert halls, banquets, churches, private gatherings and Seniors' Homes, with engagements booked into 2025. In 2024 Jim put together a weekly musical show at London's Unity Centre, and it continues to entertain audiences with performances by top London-area musicians every Wednesday evening. He has released three albums of original songs and his ninth and latest published book, “Battle Of the Bands” is a combination history of London's music scene in the 50s and 60s and his own sixty-year musical career. Jim's books and CDs are available through The Bookstore, elsewhere on this website. Jim and Carlyn Chapman have been happily married for 45 years and they share their cosy retirement home with two loveable little dogs, Jo-Jo and Molly, and an elderly gentleman cat named Mr. Punkin. www.jimchapman.caBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.Please note that all XZBN radio and/or television shows are Copyright © REL-MAR McConnell Meda Company, Niagara, Ontario, Canada – www.rel-mar.com. Folksy diner worker Jo Jo remains bummed that his boss won't invite him into the walk-in freezer to make out in a circle with the rest of his coworkers. But the idea that a Sigmund Fraud like Ian Herrin would be able to help him is more absurd than thinking White Lotus season 3 would end any way but darkly and tragically! Get out of there, Jo Jo, before Ian follows you to work and does something regrettable! Ah, you must be a real gentleman, because you've found the best part of the episode description! The part where I tell you all about the tremendously talented actor, improviser, and comedian Levi Friedman. You can follow Levi on Instagram @levi_h_friedman and be sure to check out his teams Mercy Santos and Grinch Debussy with upcoming shows Thursday May 1st 6pm Magnet Theater and Sunday May 11th 8:30pm at BCC!
JoJo and Gran Gran are joining Jared in central London to cheer him on whilst he runs in the London Fun Run. Together, they follow a map of his route and explore the city along the way; from the Tower of London, to the Landseer Lions, Hyde Park and the London Eye. JoJo and Gran Gran have a great time discovering new and exciting landmarks and still manage to reach the finish line just in the nick of time.
A left-wing social media influencer, Jo Jo from Jerz, just freaked out live on Piers Morgan uncensored after he asked a basic question: "What is a woman?" I break it down in this clip from the Brad vs Everyone podcast. Plus, Democratic politicians spew absurd racism allegations, a viral story shows the horrors of DEI gone too far, and more. An old friend of Maino joins the show to talk a bit about her broadcast history. Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor talks about being the first female traffic reporter in Metro Detroit back in the day. She tells the story of the station she worked at that was just over the border in Canada, CKLW. Her stories of being at a powerhouse radio station back in the day were extremely interesting. We actually received requests to have her back on the show, and Todd thinks she should fill in one morning when the guys are off! We found a great website that offers some great background on Jo-Jo. The excitement on the show continues when we welcome Colleen Rortvedt with the Appleton Public Library to the show. After a very large construction project, the library is about to reopen with expanded space and programs. They have the grand opening planned for Saturday, February 15th. Maino is excited to use the new card catalog. Maino and the Mayor is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 6-9 am on WGBW in Green Bay and on WISS in Appleton/Oshkosh.
