Today we're joined by a proper legend in Victor Matfield, a man who's represented his country 127 times, won the currie cup 3 times, the super rugby title 3 times, the tri nations twice and the world cup and is widely regarded as one of the greatest forwards in the history of the game. For the first time ever, he reveals his incredible story which started off with him scrapping with Bakkies Botha as teenagers and ended up with them being known as the greatest sporting partnership in the world. Victor doesn't leave anything behind in this incredible interview, taking us through his enjoyment in whipping young Springboks in their initiation and the tragic mistake he made with Mark Andrews before his very own, fighting Bakkies Botha because they hated each other initially, Punching Bizmark Du Plessis, beating the All Blacks with Barbarians and the hilarious stories on the piss that week, relives the physicality of the 2009 lions tour and reminisces on Simon Shaw being one of the most underrate players of all time, shares his memories of winning the world cup in 2007 (where he was man of the match in the final and player of the tournament), reveals the crisis meeting in detail that unfolded after their shock loss to Japan in 2015, constructs his greatest ever Springbok XV from players he played with during his 127 caps, explains his incredible memories from Toulon, why he retired and then decided to reverse that decision, why he hated his Northampton Saints experience due to Dorian West, plus much much more.... This is quite possibly our greatest ever guest, so sit back, relax and enjoy his yarns. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On this week's episode of The MadTech Podcast, Fifty CEO Simon Shaw joins Ciaran O'Kane and Rachel Smith to discuss research suggesting retailers feel unprepared for the challenges of digital retail over the next 12 months, the UK government's decision to "rethink" its proposed GDPR replacement, and the European roll out of Neeva.
Arnab Dhara discusses his paper, "Physics-guided deep autoencoder to overcome the need for a starting model in full-waveform inversion," in the June issue of The Leading Edge. In recent years, physics-driven machine learning applications have been proposed wherein physics is integrated into the data-driven model to improve the ability of the machine learning methods to generalize and potentially overcome gaps in the physical theories. Solving geophysical problems by using hybrid physics-based and data-driven solutions has the potential to address simplifications in the physical models as well as overcome shortcomings with training data sets. Ultimately, they may refine and improve our understanding of the physics underpinning data sets. In this conversation, Arnab proposes employing deep learning as a regularization in full-waveform inversion. He explains why physics-based solutions with machine learning are challenging to develop, how he made it possible to train the network without known answers, and why he tested his approach with the Marmousi and SEAM models. Arnab also shares why this research took over 20 years to build on the initial idea and how he used full-waveform inversion without a starting model. This is a cutting-edge conversation that may represent the future of FWI. RELATED LINKS * Arnab Dhara and Mrinal K. French RUGBY CONNECTIONS with Veronique Landew & Mike Pearce
Kris Chesney recalls his time playing with Philippe Sella, Francois Pienaar, Michael Lynagh as a young Rugby player at Saracens and being mentored by Jason Leonard when he started playing for Barking at 18 years old. When he left Saracens to play for Toulon in 2009, he had played 338 games for Saracens. Life at Toulon was a dream and he lived by the beach and played with people like Bakkies Botha, Simon Shaw and Jonny Wilkinson. Mike and I talk about the latest news about the 6 Nations, Top 14, and as usual, we finish with a French lesson and a rugby joke (this time, even worse than usual). Enjoy French RUGBY CONNECTIONS Podcast! The Rugby podcast with a gallic twist.
Former Toulon, Wasps, England and British & Irish Lions legend Simon Shaw joins us to talk moving to France at the age of 38, the madness of Mourad, the culture on the Cote d'Azur and much more. He tells us some stories about Shaun Edwards, gives his insight into the current France side and throws an interesting name into the mix as a contender to be Lions captain next year as well. Plus, we discuss all the Autumn Nations Cup action and Benji gives a touching tribute to the late, great Christophe Dominici... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This one is special. It's a pleasure for us to have him in our podcast series. Lebedev(RU) - Maxim Lebedev, who was born in the city of Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine in 1992 and now lives in Russia. At the age of 16, the first attempts to write house music appeared. But the first fruits appeared only in 2010. Since then, he began to make house music and with each new release he tried to improve his skills.
