Criminelen werken vanuit een villa diep in de bossen bij Willemsoord, op de grens van Friesland, Drenthe en Overijssel. „Zo'n afgelegen plek heb ik zelden gezien”, zegt verslaggever Robert-Erik Lanting in een nieuwe aflevering van onze misdaadpodcast Radio Ramkraak. Een oprijlaan van een halve kilometer, kippen die om je voeten scharrelen, varkens in de modder. Een idyllische plek op het platteland. Enorm aantrekkelijk voor Zuid-Amerikaanse criminelen, maar niet vanwege de schoonheid, vertelt Robert-Erik: „De beruchte Mexicaanse crimineel Pablo Icecobar, zette hier een crystal meth-lab op.” Dronebeelden tonen een verborgen opening in het bos. „In dat gat zie je een man op een stoel, vastgebonden, armen op de rug”, beschrijft Robert-Erik. De beelden zijn gemaakt in mei 2020, als een arrestatieteam de villa binnenvalt. De man op de stoel blijkt Eric R., ooit uitgeroepen tot beste ondernemer van het Noorden. „Hij is in zijn leven van 100 naar 0 gegaan”, zegt Robert-Erik. De zaak past volgens onze verslaggever in een bredere ontwikkeling. Waar drugslabs zich vroeger vooral in Brabant concentreerden, ziet Robert-Erik de productie verschuiven naar het Noorden: „Hier heb je echt nog plekken waar je je ongezien waant, zoals in Willemsoord.” Op meerdere plaatsen in het noorden worden de afgelopen jaren drugslabs ontdekt met duidelijke sporen naar Zuid-Amerika. Een paar maanden na de inval in de villa, wordt in Nijeveen een cocaïnewasserij ontdekt. Het blijkt een van de grootste ooit in Europa. In Hoogeveen worden eind vorig jaar vier Colombianen en een Venezolaanse vrouw opgepakt in een cocaïnelab. Op het moment van de inval staat alles klaar om van start te gaan. Meerdere Mexicaanse verdachten die betrokken waren bij het lab in Willemsoord zijn inmiddels veroordeeld. Hetzelfde geldt voor Eric R., de toenmalig eigenaar van de villa. Pablo Icecobar, die in gehackte chats wordt gezien als het brein achter meerdere labs in Nederland, is ook veroordeeld. Hij is volgens Robert-Erik zelf in Willemsoord geweest. Toch blijft het volgens de verslaggever lastig om de netwerken volledig bloot te leggen: „De echte grote bazen die dit soort netwerken aansturen, blijven buiten schot.” In de luwte van bossen, boerderijen en weilanden blijkt Noord-Nederland voor internationale drugskoks een aantrekkelijke uitvalsbasis. Jeff was my son Dylan's baseball coach at Miles Community College in Miles City, Montana.  Besides being an amazing coach, he was again, like Jason, a good human with so much wisdom and perspective.   One of the main things I loved about Jeff and his coaching style with the BOAC he had with each player. BOAC stands for a "bit of a chat." He'd have a one-on-one chat with each player discussing not just baseball, but ALL things.  Jeff knew that his players had a whole lot of other stuff in life, like school, family, and work. It wasn't just baseball.  He treated the players like humans, like family, and he loved them like his own.  I felt that when I met him, and I saw that when Dylan played for him.   We dive into acknowledging others' contributions to your life and your success. Mise en lumière d'un appel à projets qui remet la solidarité locale au centre de notre attention. Il s'appelle Générations solidaires et cela fait déjà dix ans qu'il soutient celles et ceux qui agissent, concrètement, pour rapprocher les gens et renforcer l'entraide dans nos villages, nos quartiers, nos écoles et nos villes.Chaque année, cet appel est organisé par L'Avenir, en partenariat avec la Fondation Roi Baudouin, qui intervient notamment pour l'attribution des prix. Et le succès est au rendez-vous : plus de 1 130 projets solidaires sont aujourd'hui répertoriés sur la plateforme Générations solidaires. Une véritable mine d'idées qui prouve qu'il n'existe pas de « petite action » lorsqu'elle est porteuse de sens.L'appel s'adresse à un public très large : collectifs citoyens, associations, organisations actives au niveau local ou régional, mais aussi enseignants, directions d'école ou équipes éducatives. Aucun projet n'est jugé trop modeste. Ce qui compte, c'est l'impact humain : créer du lien, aider, connecter, innover dans le champ social.Les candidatures sont ouvertes jusqu'au 6 mars. Pour celles et ceux qui hésitent ou qui ont des questions, deux séances d'information en ligne sont prévues, les 13 et 25 février. À la clé, si le projet retient l'attention du jury, des prix pouvant aller jusqu'à 7 000 euros, afin de permettre aux initiatives de se développer ou de se consolider.Parmi les projets déjà primés, on retrouve par exemple Tout un village, une ASBL du Brabant wallon qui accompagne des familles fragilisées : mamans solos, familles précarisées ou confrontées à un burn-out parental. Une trentaine de bénévoles y consacrent quelques heures par semaine pour offrir écoute, aide pratique ou soutien administratif.Autre initiative marquante : Come to be, un projet né à Liège en 2023. Son objectif est de fournir gratuitement nourriture, vêtements et livres aux personnes exilées, avec une attention particulière portée aux membres de la communauté LGBTQIA+. L'association organise des permanences sociales, facilite l'hébergement chez des citoyens solidaires, met en place des ateliers d'inclusion et répond aux situations d'urgence.Enfin, la Street Law Clinic en droit social, portée par l'ULB, mêle éducation et soutien juridique. Elle s'adresse notamment aux étudiants en difficulté financière, en répondant à des questions très concrètes liées aux aides sociales, au logement ou aux démarches administratives.Générations solidaires, c'est donc un coup de projecteur sur celles et ceux qui font vivre la solidarité au quotidien. Nous sommes au tout début du XIIIe siècle, les ducs de Brabant, qui règnent sur Bruxelles et sa région, sont devenus les propriétaires de la forêt de Soignes. C'est un événement fondateur qui scelle le destin du massif : elle devient domaine de prestige dédié à la chasse. Cette appartenance princière permet à la forêt d'échapper aux grands défrichements médiévaux qui ont transformé le reste de l'Europe. Soignes est, aujourd'hui, une véritable machine à remonter le temps. Ainsi conserve-t-elle, sous ses strates les traces d'un village fortifié vieux de plus de 5000 ans. Elle nous rappelle la chute de l'Empire romain et la naissance de frontières entre pays germaniques et pays latins. La présence des communautés religieuses, comme Rouge-Cloître, qui y géraient les étangs et les ressources dès le XIVe siècle. A la fin du XVIIIe siècle, un jardinier autrichien impose la plantation systématique de hêtres, créant une sorte de cathédrale naturelle. Au XIXe siècle, la forêt subit un dépeçage brutal perdant plus de 60 % de sa surface initiale au profit du capitalisme naissant. Le roi Léopold II contribuera à sa sauvegarde et à son embellissement en léguant à l'État des domaines prestigieux comme l'Arboretum de Tervuren, mais cela n'empêchera pas les amputations provoquées par le développement des transports comme le chemin de fer et, plus tard, la voiture. La forêt n'échappera pas non plus aux conséquences de la régionalisation de sa gestion. Aujourd'hui, la protection de ce poumon vert est renforcée par son classement au réseau Natura 2000. Et en 2017, la reconnaissance internationale lui est acquise par l'inscription d'une partie du territoire au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Un patrimoine unique qui reste fragile. Le 2 février 1997, dans la brume glacée du Brabant wallon, des dizaines de milliers de personnes marchent pour sauver les Forges de Clabecq. Au cœur du mouvement, Roberto d'Orazio, syndicaliste charismatique de la FGTB, devient le symbole d'une Belgique ouvrière en lutte. Face à la mondialisation et à la fermeture du site, il défie le pouvoir politique, les banques et l'Europe entière. La Marche multicolore pour l'emploi devient un cri de résistance, porté par un peuple épuisé mais debout. L'histoire de Clabecq, c'est celle d'une région sacrifiée, où les hauts-fourneaux s'éteignent un à un. Derrière les grilles, 1 800 familles voient leur avenir s'effondrer. Les tensions montent, les affrontements éclatent, et la justice s'en mêle. Quelques années plus tard, les Forges ferment définitivement, scellant la fin d'une ère industrielle. Aujourd'hui encore, les anciens ouvriers se battent pour obtenir justice. Clabecq reste le symbole d'un combat social historique, celui d'hommes et de femmes refusant de plier face à l'injustice économique.
