Text the Bookcast and say "hi"!Welcome to Chapter 77! For this episode, we're talking about one of, if not the, most iconic Oklahoma story of all - The Outsiders. I got to sit down with Jimmie Trammel from the Tulsa World and Danny Boy O'Connor, founder of the Outsiders House Museum to talk about their new book, Staying Gold: An Oral History of the Outsiders.Jimmie Tramel, who was born in Pryor and raised in Locust Grove, is a lifelong Oklahoman who has worked at the Tulsa World since 1989. He was a sports writer for 25 years and wrote books on (or with) former Oklahoma State football coach Pat Jones and former University of Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer. He switched from sports to entertainment 11 years ago and became the Tulsa World's pop culture writer.Danny Boy O'Connor is the Founder and Executive Director of The Outsiders House Museum in Tulsa and a founding member of the 90s rap group, House of Pain. Tell a happy end, correctly use words that are always confused by German learners & words with the same or similar spelling, but different meanings. Party at Paul's place. Anna says she has almost finished her studies and will soon be a teacher at a primary school. Paul's family is super proud of him and his blog has gained so much traction that he was even able to boost the business of Tim's bicycle repair shop with it. Meili's German has gotten much better. She says she would be living in China now if it wasn't for Paul's help. Tim says he wouldn't have met Meili at the Oktoberfest without Paul inviting everybody. Tim and Meili announce that they are going to get engaged. Paul's friends come out with the uncomfortable truth about his taste: his wallpaper is very ugly. Laura says that Fritz is on trial. He's is no longer a policeman. Fritz's "neighbor" on Sylt, the policeman, told her that the best amateur detective in all of Germany must be Paul. Paul reveals the big news: A small publisher wants to bring out his blog as a book. That means he's now a successful writer with a contract. His book will be called "the betrayal". He's thinking about maybe even doing a podcast... Transcript, lesson and extras: german-stories.com/100-dein-deutsch-ist-jetzt-viel-besser-confusing-german-words 3 Ways to Support Us: 1. For most of the last 2,000 years, the white-tailed eagle — or sea eagle — has been one of the most common birds of prey in Britain. That all ended in horrendous fashion from the late 18th century onwards. Shooting, poisoning, egg collection, a mania for taxidermy and more combined to see this majestic creature — affectionately dubbed the 'flying barn door — hunted to extinction in Britain. The last bird is thought to have been killed in 1918.Fast forward a century and they are now one of the great success stories of nature. Starting with four chicks brought to RAF Kinloss in June 1975, a 50-year effort led by the RSPB but supported by a string of other organisations has seen populations restored from the Highlands to West Sussex. The RSPB have celebrated this milestone with the making of a film, Return, which tells the full story, and we're delighted that two of the — conservationist Dave Sexton and musician Alice Boyd — joined the Country Life Podcast to talk to James Fisher about how it all came together. It's a wonderful, inspiring story which shows just what can be done by committed experts, backed by long-term thinking, and is a must-watch for anyone with even a passing interest in wildlife and nature. As of August 29 it's now available to watch on the RSPB's YouTube channel. You can find out more on the RSPB website — rspb.org.uk — about white-tailed eagles themselves, the making of the film and Alice's hauntingly beautiful music which captures the beauty and majesty of these great creatures.
