This week, we discuss ad tech and how some SSPs are packaging CTV inventory into curated, omnichannel deals, resulting in CTV inventory being attached to less desirable content. While SSP auctions allow buyers to tailor bids to media quality, buyers could bid highly on packages with only some premium inventory. We also detail the report that Disney has been striking deals that call for significant rollbacks in CPM rates, discounting them by as much as 10-15%. With Amazon Prime Video's recent decision to make its basic streaming service ad-supported and Netflix offering ads, there is a significant increase in digital ad inventory available, driving down pricing.We also show that nothing comes close to the TV viewership of NFL games compared to sports viewership numbers from the NHL, MLB, WNBA, NBA, Formula 1, U.S. Open, Indy 500, UFL and Premier League. Ben Gabler is evidence that when you couple a passion for team-building with an entrepreneurial spirit, you can build technologies that simplify daily tasks, improving quality of life. With a proven record growing technology businesses, Gabler has expanded market share for major global Web hosting brands and brought technology startups from initial idea to success. Ben launched the Web hosting company Host Nine in 2006. Four years later, HostGator bought HostNine and appointed Gabler as their Chief Operating Officer. Appointed as the Senior Product Manager of Hosting at GoDaddy in 2013, Ben managed close to $500 million in product revenue, where he implemented a comprehensive redesign and relaunch of all hosting products in just over four months. In 2014, Gabler developed EasyRent.com, the first-ever all-in-one property management platform. By combining product vision with technical acumen, Ben attracted more than 12,000 users in only five months. To expand his efforts, Gabler took on a new role in late-2015: Chief Executive Officer at customer service software company Help.com. At Help.com, Ben’s mission is to build the world’s most robust toolset for online customer support. During 13+ years of business experience, he became increasingly aware that online service tools are essential and customer service is often a key differentiator. Wanting to best meet the needs of growing businesses, Gabler built a world-class customer service toolset so that his customers could provide world-class customer service. Upon completion of the Help.com Platform, Gabler joined Lance Crosby and team at StackPath as Chief Product Officer. Gabler drove the Product & Software Engineering efforts around consolidating all of the StackPath acquisitions and most notably launched the world's first true Edge Computing platform.

It's weekly update time!! As always, we've worked hard to listen to what you'd love to see in Captivate and have put together the latest release as follows... Brand new "system status" area - we'd planned this for Q4 2019 but accelerated its development in light of the StackPath challenge below. We now have a complete and comprehensive system status area for Captivate's entire infrastructure. This has its own page right here at https://status.captivate.fm and system status will also show within the live chat support section at the bottom-right of Captivate's dashboard. Whoop! Extra layer of object storage added - our CDN provider, StackPath, had an issue with its object storage node on the US East Coast. The object storage nodes are used to store your audio files before they get to the CDN when requested by a podcast player, plus they store other items such as podcast cover art - this issue with StackPath meant that uploads were sporadically failing and that audio sometimes couldn't be quickly played back because the CDN couldn't grab the audio file every time from the object storage system. StackPath is mega-reliable but just like any tech company, they do have some issues now and then - luckily, this is very very rare. We added an extra object storage redundancy layer which means that if StackPath ever has issues again, uploads will instantly switch to our secondary storage option seamlessly and automatically with no impact on upload or download speed. Bottom line: the issues that you may have experienced this week won't happen again. Thanks for bearing with us :) Apple Podcasts URL format change in Captivate's marketing section - in some instances, we were spotting that some Apple URLs weren't validating correctly within the marketing section of your Captivate dashboard. As it happens... Apple has a couple of different URL formats so we added extra validation for them. Awww yeah. All relevant help articles have been updated to reflect these changes.
